Still watching the Emmys. The speeches given during the Governor’s award were very moving but I can’t help but feel the cringe. Chris Abrego gave a speech about why it’s important to have more representation both in front of and behind the camera. He also went on to say that such projects and the actors involved need to have the budgets and the support of the studios in order to be successful. I’m sorry but I couldn’t help but be aware of the hypocrisy. The Emmy’s air on ABC and ABC is owned by Disney and Disney just canceled a show that was everything Chris Abrego said studios should be getting behind. I found it very hard to get behind the message of inclusivity when the cancellation of the Acolyte and the way Disney threw Amandala Stenberg to the wolves proves otherwise and blatantly so.
