I read this a while back and have not been able to stop thinking about it since!! This is such a well-written story, with a unique twist on the arranged marriage hybrid-esque trope (the author does not identify the story as such). Thank you for writing and sharing your beautiful writing with us, @skswriting!! Spoilers are below~ 

I really felt empathetic to Y/N and the choices she made. There were times I was like, ‘yeah I totally would’ve done the same thing’. Especially in the beginning when she pointed out how manipulative Elder Choi was being. She logically thought it through and used the situation to her advantage. I love how realistic and raw her emotions were portrayed throughout the story. 

I squealed so fucking loud at how CUTE they were being when they were finding salve material for Y/N’s blisters. Like, the interaction seemed so subtle, but I found it to be so perfect. What a cute ice breaker moment for them. It really helped set the tone for the smut on the second day. 

The built-up sexual tension made the copulation ceremony that much more special. It was perfect!! I love how they were saving the penetration for the ceremony. The scene was writing as if there was so much euphoria happening. It was like a perfect ending to their story. I’m a complete sucker for happy endings and this was so perfect.

When one of the Elders asks for you to meet in their cabin after dinner, your heart sinks to your feet.  The Elders, and most of your tribe for that matter, don’t go out of their way to speak to you, so for one of them to call upon you can’t be good news.

You don’t eat much, stomach twisting violently as you sit in a secluded corner, immune to the chattering around you.  Maybe today is the day they kick you out.  It’s no secret your tribe doesn’t like you, your orphanism a major hurdle they’re unable to overcome, considering the scarce resources your tribe are reluctant to share with someone who’s unable to provide.

“Elder Choi,” you knock politely, bowing your head as you pop your head in, “You wished to see me?”

“Ah, yes, Y/N, come in child,” his voice is soft, giving no hint as to what’s to come, “Please, sit.”

You kneel on a pillow at his tea table, accepting the cup from him.  It’s silent as you both drink, your mind whirling as you try to think what’s about to happen.

“It will be your first Lottery tomorrow, yes?” he asks.

“Yes, Elder Choi,” you answer.

this was SUCH a great read. the world-building is amazing! i was able to visualize what was happening and feel like i was really there witnessing everything unfold. i cant believe this story is free to read??? the characterization! amazing. i must say bast is my favorite character lol i’ve read this so many times and each read gets better and better. thank you, @junghelioseok​ for sharing your beautiful writing with us. below are some of my fave scenes~ 

i love the funeral scene. it showcased oc and hoseok’s relationship. although it was taboo, hoseok still wanted oc there, which leads me to assume how deeply he needs her. it really set the tone.

my heart really broke for oc when hoseok told her about the arranged marriage. despite being hurt, she still kept her cool. 

omg but the way oc was still so nice to nayeon in the shop even though she was high-key annoying wow but bast’s comments!! hahahaha they were literally perfect! it made me laugh so hard

the double date scene was written so well. i felt the awkwardness of dinner, but seokjin’s character was so perfect. the way he made oc comfortable during dinner with his calm demeanor and light conversation made my heart melt to pieces 

I was screaming!!! at the part where hoseok mentioned seokjin and oc being together. it was an honest mistake to assume they were together. you can hear hoseok’s hesitation to mention that they made sense. the amount of times my heart hurt for them :( 

nayeon sickly sweet tone to hoseok’s father..... omg ok girl we get it 

but a part of me felt like all was right in the world when hoseok told her to leave when oc came to his rescue. yes hoseok!! you tell her!!! the smut was so hot ahhh. the desperation and neediness was soo hot omg we love dom hoseok in this house 

the ending was so sweet. i really enjoyed reading this fic. again, thank you for writing such a great piece, lia!!

Dark clouds gather overhead, looming like an omen, and you silently reach into your purse to check that the umbrella you’d stowed this morning is still there. Vaguely, you wonder if it’s big enough for two.
