Ok these aren’t in any particular order, but are just some Joniss fanfics that I enjoy! Some might not be completed, but still worth reading in my opinion!

Your Skin and Bones: A joniss classic! Mostly drabbles.

There’s nowhere I’d rather be: An older story, and quite long! Definitely a fave of mine when I first got into joniss. 

You’re Mine: A sickeningly sweet and wonderfully smutty fic, that is pretty long!

Back to You: This one I can’t even properly describe how much I love it oh gosh! It’s super long, and has some really interesting twists at the end, especially with Johanna’s character.

Husking:  A short and smutty classic! A must-read!

The Fire Within : This one is very well written, and very long! A must read, for sure.

Lifeblood:  This is probably my favorite fic atm, and JMI is such a fantastic author, seriously, if you haven’t read this yet, please do so!

There’s No One Left I Love: This is one I read way back when I first started shipping Joniss, so I honestly don’t remember much, but I know I liked it!

Solace in You: Short fic in which Johanna just shows up at Katniss’ house, cute things and smut happens

Hunger Games: Sirens of the Wood : A lengthy and smutty fic. Never completed, however.

Regrets And Mistakes They Are Memories Made: A lengthy emotional roller coaster

Kindling: Ok this one is honestly a bit ridiculous, but sex in the arena is just kinda fun to read

All the Little Things: This one focuses on specific details in their established relationship and is super fluffy

She Doesn’t Say I Love You: This one just gives me so many feelings, just read it, you won’t be disappointed!

This Year’s Girl: Joniss switching bodies! What more could you want?

My Soul to Keep: Never completed, but I really wish it were. Pregnant Johanna shows up at Katniss’ house and they think about what to do. Worth reading just for obtaining headcanons.

Plain Sailing Weather:  A huge fave of mine. Johanna and Katniss in rehab, really great ending. 

To Kill a Mockingjay: A super awesome Harry Potter AU That desperately needs to be updated.

Burn It Down: In which Gale and Johanna are reaped for the 74th hunger games; incomplete.

I Promise, it Won’t Hurt:  Nice, long, and good!

Help: Really good smut, read it, I dare you.

Everyday: Super cute Joniss as a family unit

Loyalty:  Peacekeeper Johanna in district 12

Making a Family:  As the name implies, a short story of Joniss talking about pregnancy

Conversations With Blight:  Mostly just a look into Johanna’s thoughts as she discusses with “Blight” (who is deceased as she talks to him), with some joniss in there.

They Can’t Hurt Me:  Not specifically Joniss, but I enjoy their interaction in it, and the take on Jo’s time in the capital is interesting. Lots of TWs, incomplete. 

The Whipping Post:  Johanna gets whipped and Katniss takes care of her, and it’s sad and sweet

Thanks For the Memories:  Super sad character death. Will rip your heart out.

Running Red: Cold War AU in which Katniss tracks Johanna down and falls in love. Seriously needs to be updated!

We’ve Not Yet Lost All Our Graces:  Really lengthy and well written fic! Definitely read it,

An Evergreen Forest: Takes place a while after Mockingjay, Johanna’s mellower, really cute!

After the Storm: Dealing with some PTSD things, sad and fluffy, and little bit smutty!

In the Arms of the Ocean:  Johanna shows up at Katniss’ house after many years, and they start to reconnect. Incomplete. 

Interlude: Masturbation leads to sexy times (shh I like this)

But You Love Me, Right?:  Super fluff made of sugar

Finding Solace: More mutual masturbation and friendly sex! I really love this one!

The Air’s So Heavy, It Could Drown a Butterfly:  Sad fic involving cancer. Will break your heart.

Lullabies:  Joniss trying to start a family (will break your heart)

Hush:  Katniss visits Johanna in the hospital. Features interesting insight into the characters.

Contains many drug refs.Waiting it Out: Katniss and Johanna deal with a power outage during a storm! Super cute! Emetophobia warningPost-It Notes: Johanna thinks up ways that her and Katniss need to improve before they have children (I am weak for joniss babies and this fic is cute as HECK)Lost in My Mind: This is a bit different from all the other stories here, as this is an interactive fic! You input commands to play, and it is really neat!

I would like to read about the 74th hunger games, haymitch and effie make lots of noise during sex and the designers of the district, peeta and katniss listen and the next day talk to them about it, I think it would be hot and funny!!! Effie was burrowing into the source of warmthat her back before she even properly woke up, letting out a hum of contentment.Haymitch, for all his claims that he disliked sharing a bed, had a tendency totake up all the space and while that was a little annoying, there wereadvantages to this new habit of his to crash in her room: he tended to wraparound her like an octopus in his sleep. His leg was tossed over hers, herpillow was an arm that was curled around her head and there was a strong handholding her breast.

She was sticky in unpleasant places and soreall over. Her thighs, her right arm… She sighed softly and glanced at theclock, not surprised to find it was later than planned. Haymitch had a nastytendency to tinker with her alarm behind her back. She liked to be up and readyearly, so that she could keep an eye on everyone and have everything undercontrol. The Tour was bad enough without anything going amiss. But Haymitch –and Cinna and Portia – insisted she was pushing herself too hard and she wouldcollapse well before they reached the Capitol if she went on like this,reviewing schedules and working on speeches until the early hours of morning. Theywere conspiring behind her back to force her to get more rest.

6 Favourite Things About Katniss Everdeen

I was tagged by @papofglencoe for this, and I’m very much on board with the idea of a Katniss Saturday and an overall Everlark weekend. 

1. She’s an archer. I know that’s kind of an odd reason to like a character, but I’ve always loved the bow and arrow (took archery classes myself once) and my first movie star crush was Orlando Bloom as Legolas, so I’ve always had a soft spot for archers. She uses it to feed her family and protect the people she loves and it’s such a wonderfully practical weapon to know how to use. The way she associates it with her father and with providing for her family, I dunno, it’s nice to have a female character associate with a weapon or a tool in a positive manner. 

2. Her weird/dark/awkward/witty sense of humour. Peeta’s funny, but I underestimated the number of times Katniss made me chuckle with her blunt thoughts. She speaks her mind sometimes without a filter and her words aren’t always the most charming, but they are certainly entertaining to read.

3. She’s resourceful. I respect the hell out of that. For someone who lives near the forests and the mountains, I wouldn’t have a clue on how to survive or manage without 50 different things on hand. She knows all the tricks to stay alive in the wild and provide for herself (and others) and she does it with enough struggle for her to not be perfect, but with enough skill for you to really admire her. 

4. She has a deep, unflinching sense of love. She doesn’t limit family to blood first off, and the love she has for them is almost unconditional; she’ll do anything to keep them safe. She can bring herself to love even someone who mocks her, butts heads with her, and is a self-loathing, self-destructive wreck like Haymitch. The way she’ll do anything for Prim, deny her nothing. Speaking as both an older and younger sibling, it is nice to see positive examples in popular media of siblings not being dysfunctional, but just taking care of each other. Even the other Victors, people who would be her enemies in the Quarter Quell, Katniss sees some of them as people she would be naturally protective over, that they are people she would just want to help. For someone who tries to keep people away, who claims to not have any faith in the world or humanity, she loves and takes care of people in a sense that is really under-appreciated by many fans. 

5. She’s flawed. Being a blank slate is bad enough for a character, but to be perfect is even worse. Perfection is boring. No one is perfect and I don’t want to read the thoughts of someone who is. Katniss has flaws just like the rest of us. She can be judgemental, mean, quick to withdraw, cynical. She isn’t a great public speaker most of the time, she can be standoffish, and awkward. And that’s fine. I love those things about her. A character feels so much richer when you know they can be just like you in a lot of ways, that they have negative qualities. Katniss has much more good in her than bad, but I love that so many of her thoughts are so unapologetic and flawed in so many ways. It divides people on her, it makes her  target for hatred amongst this fandom to a degree that shocks me (and angers me), but I love it. I think if you can love a character at their worst, then you know that this character is a very well written one. 

6. Her bond with Peeta. It isn’t easy between them in the least and for at least half a book one of them views the other as an enemy, but they always find their way back to each other. And I think Katniss deserves as much credit for that as Peeta does. She fights for him in a different sort of way, but she tries to do her best by him. She intends to sacrifice herself at the Quell to save him. She risks her life by kissing him in the Capitol streets, doing so to try and bring him back from the brink, to keep the hope that he can be him again. Half of her revenge on Snow is almost based around what he did to Peeta. She can be so much more selfless than people realize when it comes to him (as he can be for her). In addition to that, I love that Katniss appreciates so many of the gentler qualities Peeta has. So many people in the mainstream media or casual fans mock Peeta for his interests and skills. I love that Katniss doesn’t look down on him for those qualities, but instead sees beauty and hope in them. She admires that side of Peeta as much as he admires the Hunter side of her.
