Idk how Edward could tell Bella that he doesn't want her and that he won't come back and she'll never see him again and she isn't good for him even if he didn't mean it.
He's talking to a girl who he knows had to be an adult way too soon because her mom wouldn't. She has been cast away and made to feel like she never fit in. She's struggled with being alone her whole life.

Head cannoning Edwards fashion sense as band t shirts, flannels and oversized hoodies. Once he gets over the impracticality of holes in jeans they’re all he wears. Alice introduces him to guyliner. Against his will of having no human friends, the emos end up adopting him into their friend circle. He introduces them to dark classics, like the original fairy tails, as well as tells stories about how the rise of rock music really happened. Nobody questions how he knows it. They don’t question him in general, they just think he’s a super weird guy who’s super into vampires, and likes to pretend to be one. Edward actually feels accepted, even if he feels silly at the same time.
