He knew he hadn’t healed – not really. He couldn’t imagine ever recovering from the loss of his one and only best friend, but in that moment he was being reminded of just how big the wound was. It hadn’t scabbed over at all, only congealed; still sticky and moist to the touch. Now though, it was raw, bleeding out into the hole left behind, pressing around his lungs, smothering his breath.

Amidst the loss and confusion of recent events, Mark Owens falls into a crisis of faith like never before.
