if either naruto or sasuke were a girl narusasu would’ve been canon but it would also have much less impact than it has, and i don’t mean in a woke way, i mean in the writing. it wouldn’t have nuance, it wouldn’t have struggling to define their relationship, it wouldn’t have not being satisfied with each definition until it gets to “i hurt when you hurt”, it wouldn’t have double suicide between lovers proposal because they aren’t accepted and can’t be together, it wouldn’t have struggling with internalised homophobia and comphet, it wouldn’t have “you still haven’t figured it out?”, it wouldn’t have censored holding hands in a pool of blood with a shape of a heart, it wouldn’t have subtlety, even if some of the writing is far from subtle. obvious yes, but less beautiful

live. live messy and vibrant and warm and wholeheartedly. dare to embrace the parts of yourself that are confusing and complex and don’t come in pretty packages. let yourself accept the love and light you engulf others in. live and live unapologetically as yourself, the battered, bruised and muddled parts included.
