MY WHOLE CHRISTMAS WAS TERRIBLE. A typhoon came and wrecked all the electricity posts and I had to spend my whole new year and Christmas with candles and insanity but I got to live through it and I kinda enjoyed my Christmas. As soon as the electricity came back I immediately went to drawing this. Hope you like it :))

Brief explanation about the stolen art

As some of you may know a couple of weeks ago one of my drawings was used without permission in a recent youtube review of Monkie Kid.

I want to start this explanation by saying that I didn’t know who the YouTuber who used my art was up until this point so I reacted the way I thought was right.

Looking in the video description I found the owner of the channel’s link to her Tumblr and contacted her via the ask box, this was the only link to something in the video description where I could contact someone and I believed that contacting the channel owner directly was the best option, I obviously didn’t save any of my messages because at the time I didn’t think it was necessary, all I asked was for my art to either be removed from the video or to at least properly credit me in the video’s description.

While I awaited a response from the creator of the video a friend of mine tried to write in the comment section of said video saying that the art was mine and it was being used with no permission. Not even two minutes later their comment got deleted.

Seeing that the Youtuber wasn’t answering my messages and was actively deleting any attempts to make others aware and tell her to at least credit me, I did the next logical thing: report the video via Youtube’s report system.

To do so I had to share a lot of personal information I was not comfortable with, but I did it anyway as it was necessary to at least stop the owner of the channel from using my art without permission.

Time one week and I received an email from Youtube saying that the creator of the video claimed that she didn’t do anything illegal and was ready to turn this into a lawsuit.

And while making something like a lawsuit over stolen art is more than just an overreaction, I didn’t have the patience nor the financial sustenance to deal with.

So, after circa 10 days, the YouTuber was free to reupload the video, and that’s what she did.

Before the video went back up we were made aware of a community post on the channel announcing I had removed the video and a few comments to it that responded to no one, which presumably could have had the same information as my friend’s comments on the original video.

I haven’t watched the video since it went back up, but obviously my art is still in it uncredited since people have told me. I have not checked the comments either to see if any have been made about this and deleted, I do not want to do that.

Now, I want to declare this situation over as I, frankly, don’t want to lose even a single day more over this. I just want to keep enjoying making dumb AUs with my friends and wait for Season 3 of Monkie Kid to come out.

I will not answer asks about this whole event unless there is important information I have missed, I also ask people not to message the YouTuber in any capacity, and I won’t stand behind any messages given to them that aren’t polite.
