Mathematics is the underlying software of the universe. Physics is the underlying hardware of the universe.
The only reason we have other sciences at all, Everything, from chemistry and biology to psychology and economics, is because those aspects of the first two are closest to our ability to perceive the scale of the universe. Seriously, start with a human sized idea and whichever direction you go on the scale, sooner or later you end up with one or the other.
