dear everyone, i'm sorry for spamming your dash with posts about hurricane helene. one of my friends is severely affected and talked about how their part of a state is greatly affected yet not reported as much. so i'm doing my part in raising the awareness of it.

several towns were devastated, building structures fell off, flooding everywhere, water and electricity outages...

i hope you don't mind me sharing posts about them.

My heart is breaking for so much of the south east right now, especially some of rural Appalachia. 🫶

This isn’t going to be like my usual posts, but I feel the need to say this.

I myself am in Western North Carolina, we are a huddled collection of small towns outside of Asheville and Boone and we aren’t getting the news coverage necessary to help us. We depend heavily on local farms that have had pastures and livestock wash away, elderly people have had trees fall on their houses and many can’t get their medical machines to work due to no power. We are flooded, blocked in by fallen trees, and desperate for help.

The state has focused heavily on the bigger cities, but last night the lake Lure dam almost failed and the Hickory people nearby had to evacuate with nowhere to go and little notice. For those who live in this area, we have more rain expected to come, prepare accordingly. For those outside of here, please donate to the Red Cross and Storm shelters to help our people.

North Carolina is in a state of emergency, hundreds of thousands are without power and without food, an entire town in Asheville has been flooded off the map, Boone is under water. Do what you can.

if you see my mutual aid posts pertaining to hurricane helene, please, and i mean PLEASE help them in any way you can. even as simple as sharing or reblogging them is helping them a bunch. people couldn't eat stuff because their fridges are turned off and some people's houses were destroyed.
