Bridge Four in Oathbringer ch. 55
Me Too
Me too, I guess, Me too, and you too, And every woman I’ve ever loved, ever looked up to. Then there are the ones I haven’t, too. Them too. And me too, and you too, And my sisters too, My mother too, My grandmothers too, And fucking everyone.
Is saying "me too" drowning our stories out? Is it normalizing it? Oh, shock horror—you too? Why is it so common? We know this not just because of "Me Too," But because we see, we hear, we feel. I know the touch. I see you flinch when your husband touches you, Even worse, when your uncle’s eyes follow you.
So yeah, you too, hey?
I’m not taking away from "Me Too," I just want everyone to know Me too. Them too. They are so precious— That little girl too. And I scowl at certain men, Some who don’t deserve it,
I question if they should be allowed Around my friends, My family, Their own too. So yes, me too. I’ve never counted how many times— It was just part of the life I learned to live, To survive.
Me too. But so many others too. A chorus of silences, A wave of knowing nods. Me too, You too, And all the ones who never said a word— Them too.
The stormlight archive fandom is so fucking strange. It’ll look down on dalinar for his alcoholism even though he himself saw the things they hold against him and worked to correct his mistakes. ‘He started hating his kids!’ Yeah, he sees himself becoming that bitter person who would harm those he cared about and made an effort to be better. (This ignoring the war crimes one could actually hold against dalinar and that one of the main themes of the series is growing past one’s mistakes) while it’ll bend over backwards to justify moash in everything he does without a hint of irony. And I’m not even talking about him killing the king, I disagree with most people when they say he deserved to die (going back to the central theme of ‘people can do better’) but I see where the arguments come from even if I don’t agree with them. I mean he killed teft, and I never see it brought up. It’s always either moash did nothing wrong by killing a corrupt king or he’s a bastard for cutting the kings redemption arc down early. No brings up the fact he murdered his friend that was by his side throughout the bridge runs. ‘He’s under Odium’s influence’ something we see one has to accept in the first place so it’s no different from dalinar turning to the bottle: it’s an external source that dulls and numbs the pain and guilt so they can avoid dealing with it directly. At the end of the day I think the fandom’s attitude towards dalinar and silence on teft indicates the fandom’s feelings on addicts in general, which is depressing considering it’s at odds with the whole message of the series
get 🥺 men 🥺 flowers 🥺
I've been imagining chasmfiends and chuls as giant pill bugs instead of crab like creatures, I think it fits better
