the voice of my 11th grade journalism/12th grade creative writing teacher who rly did know everything: if you stop writing for a while the words will build up and stagnate. to clear the water, you will have to open the dam completely, and accept the fact that what initially comes out will not be palatable

Being a writer means being an artist. Yes, you’re not only writing stuff, you’re actually creating art. So let go of your inner critic, and realize how perfect your art is. Yes, you can always improve it, but that doesn’t mean it’s not good enough in its raw form.

1. What’s something you read recently and enjoyed?

most recently i read yellowface by r.f. kuang and it really got me thinking about a bunch of things!! i loved the way she wrote about the publishing industry and how social media plays a big role in hype but also how deeply temporary and superficial it all is. also the entire debate on ownership — i find it all so interesting!

4. What are your top 3 comfort reads?

ooooh this is a good one.

six of crows duology by leigh bardugo. i mean do i even have to explain 🙇🏽‍♀️💗 just absolutely in love with the characters and plot i would reread it a billion times honestly.

all my rage by sabaa tahir. comforting in the sense that it’s everything i adore in a book and made me feel so seen.
