It is 3-D, built-up mixture of many layers of thick gesso, paint, sand and other materials.  I'm inspired by the structure of #Saturn 's Moons. This one was inspired by the surface of the satellite called Atlas. In 1983 it was officially named after #Atlas of Greek #mythology , because it "holds the rings on its shoulders" like the Titan Atlas held the sky up above the Earth. Atlas is the closest #satellite to the sharp outer edge of the A ring, and was long thought to be a shepherd satellite for this ring. This piece is part of a tetraptych, with each canvas measuring 121.9 H x 101.6 W x 3.8 cm, 48" x 40" x 1.5". The process of creating this painting was a true test of our artistic skills and teamwork. With such a large painting to work with, we had to be mindful of our movements and make sure we were always in sync with each other.
