Even though you knew it was coming, you still couldn’t have prepared yourself for the reality.

You were losing the love of your life. The number one menace that stole your heart with a single smile. All those nights of whispered promises and bare affection would soon be a memory.

“No.” Your broken cry of the single syllables made Jeonghan huff a small laugh.

“Sweetheart, it’s not forever.” His voice soft as he tried to get you to calm down. You were sitting on the couch scrolling on socials when you saw Hybe’s official announcement.

“But everything is going to change.” You whined meekly, tears brimming.

“Nothing is going to change.” Your fiancé insisted as he took a seat right beside you. “I’m still Hannie and you’re still going to be wife.”

“But you wont be here when I get all round and want cravings at 3am. Or when I cant fall asleep because I’m too hot or too cold, who’s going to be here to adjust the temperature or add or reduce our clothing. Or what about when I forget to lock the door before I leave? Hm? Who's going to remind me to lock up? Who am I going to prank even worse, who’s going to prank me? And what-”

“Baby,” Jeonghan gently but curtly cut off your rant of concerns. Taking your hands into his and gazing into your teary eyes. “I will take care of you from wherever I am. You will always be my main priority... Next to staying alive.” He added in jokingly.

“I’m kidding, I’m kidding. They’ll probably put me in a sector that’s not as active. Maybe I'll be in the kitchen or the offices. I will be absolutely fine, sweetheart.”

You let go over one hand to stroke his colourful locks. Feeling the strands slip between your fingers, as it felt as though they were slipping through instead. And with a saddened pout you utter, “You’re getting a buzz cut”

Your fiancé chuckles with a grin, “It’s only hair, baby. It’ll grow back.” He takes your hand and kisses the back before tugging you into his lap to hold both his babies. “As for when you get round and cravings and such,” he caresses your still small belly. “I’ll have Cheol buy you whatever you want cause you’re carrying his niece or nephew” you giggle at that while he wipes away your tear tracks. “and I’m sure Joshuji will probably prank you when he’s here to check up on you.”

“Mhm.. he does love to prank me.” You agree.

“And you’ll take pictures and videos of your beautiful body and send them to me, right?” He raises his brow as he dips his chin to meet your eyes.

“Of course, Hannie.” You look up at him with assurance.

“Then we’ll be just fine, sweetheart.” You both settle into the couch and take in the first of the last moments before he leaves in a few weeks. They it hits you and you sit up, staring at him.

“What?” He asks confused.

“What about the birth?” You ask quietly.

“Oh, I'll be dammed if I miss that, baby. No one, not even the sergeants, can stop me from being with you when our baby is debuting into this world. I promise you that.” He speaks with such finality that you feel back at ease and settle down into his arms again. “Plus, the members would have a field day if I missed it.” He adds later on, and you giggle.

One thing was certain, Jeonghan would love and care for you endlessly no matter the circumstances. And you would all the same.
