Word Count: 2k

Friday afternoon, 12:25pm

"Did you see what Jeonghan is wearing today?" "Girl, how could I not notice? My attention was all over his slacks." "The front or the back?"

Oh god. Give me a fucking break.

If there was one thing you hated, it was gossip around the office. Especially when it came in the form of girls basically drooling over one of your colleagues, Yoon Jeonghan. And of all places, they decided to take their little thirst fest into the break room.

"You know, there is something that I noticed," you said, popping into the conversation.

Immediately, heads snapped towards your direction. You were a bit taken back by the abrupt movement, fearing that their own heads would fall off. Either because they didn't realize you were in the room or they were interested in what you out of all people had to say. You were one of the few survivors of the trance Jeonghan seemed to place over your female colleagues. And if you had something to say regarding the matter, they surely were interested.

You couldn't help but smile slightly as you set down your silverware. The element of surprise had to be on your side here. You just had come in to enjoy your salad, but why not enjoy a show?

All the women leaned in, anticipating for what you might have to say. Your eyes glanced from side to side, as if you were scooping the scene to make sure there were no unwanted listeners. Getting the hint, the women leaned further in to hear the secret you were about to spill.

Time to go in the for the kill. In the loudest voice you could possible muster, you said the following:

"The way you talk about Jeonghan is quite disgusting. You hate when the men in the office talk about your skirts or how tight your blouses, but here you are drooling over Jeonghan in just a pair of pants? Pathetic. Close your mouths, ladies, or you might flood the office."

The small group gasped at you, eyes glaring at you but also glancing around to make sure nobody had looked in their direction. Their faces red in embarrassment as you smirked triumphantly.

Being the polite person you are, you bowed your head gently to pardon yourself. Gathering all the trash from your lunch, you threw it away and was about to make your exit.

"You're just upset that you're not Jeonghan's type," one of the woman muttered.

You couldn't help but laugh at their claim. You turned towards the group who seemed to be mustering all the courage they could to stand up to you. At the same time, you raised an eyebrow and had your hands on your hips. Do they really think their words will hurt you?

"Oh no! What will I ever do?" You said dramatically. "At least I don't live in some delusion where me and my friends are all after the same guy? I mean, he can only pick one of you. Or worse, he picks none of you."

Their eyes widened and mouths dropped at your words. Don't mess with the bull or you might get the horns. They seemed to be trying to come up with another comeback, but all you could do was walk away. Not worth wasting your breath on them.

You began to make your way back to your cubicle. You still had a few reports you needed to get done with before you could close out for the weekend. It wasn't that you hated your job. If anything, you kind of liked the routine it put you in. You even were beginning to be handed more responsibilities like leading presentations and joining brainstorming sessions for different marketing campaigns.

You definitely didn't have the time to be oogling over the looks of Yoon Jeonghan.

As you settled back at your dress, you let out a sigh. As invested as you were in the work you were doing, you couldn't help but feel as if time was dragging now that it was towards the later part of the day. Just 3 more hours.

"Well look who it is," a voice called out.

The hairs on the back of your neck rose a bit. You recognized that voice anywhere. Your attention was locked on the computer monitor in front of you, thinking that if you ignore the interruption it would just go away naturally. That was until you felt like something was looming over.

With a narrow gaze, you looked up to see the devil himself - Yoon Jeonghan. His arms rested against the top of your cubicle wall. You realy thought you had been silent enough to get back to work without alerting the beast. But by judging by the smirk curled on his lips, you knew he had been waiting for you. The black tie was loose around his neck with the sleeves of his white button up were rolled up to his forearms.

"Missed you, darling." "What can I do to help you, Mr. Yoon?" You did your best to keep a montone voice.

You didn't want to give any sort of impression you could be into what is happening.

"Mr. Yoon? What is with the formalies, y/n?" He gasped. "Well, I'm here to do my job and not entertain whatever this is," you explained.

"Is it actually that harmful for a man to be friendly?" "But what's the catch?" "Go out with me."

Your eyes widened and you nearly laughed. He frowned at your reaction but still stood his ground. There was no need to give any indicator that his ego had deflated a bit. He was not used to someone being so upfront with their rejection, normally accustomed to a shy "I don't know." But you were different. There was a reason he did this little waltz with you.

You and Jeonghan have been working together since you joined the company last year. He was technically someone in your department that could have been a mentor, but you were quickly swayed away by his flirtatious manner. Seeing that you were not dropping on your knees, begging for his attention, Jeonghan saw the challenge and knew he could beat it. There was a way to get into your heart, no matter how icy and impenetrable you wanted to come across.

He would crack the code, one way or another.

"I don't think it's a joke, doll. We're two attractive people. Come on. One meal couldn't hurt you." "Jeonghan, being in the same room as you is sometimes insufferable. How do I even know you don't want to go out with me because someone else was busy, hmm? I mean, weren't you just coupled up with the receptionist?" "Couldn't be fit into her Google Calendar."

You rolled your eyes at his response before dropping your gaze back down to your computer. You pretended to be typing away at one of the numerous documents you had pulled open, hoping it was enough for Jeonghan to get the hint.

However, he could tell you weren't budging quite yet. He also picked up on your little act as your screen was completely black. The brightness from the screen wasn't reflecting onto your face whatsoever. Still, he found you absolutely adorable.

"Okay, okay, I'm sorry. This is unprofessional of me, y/n. I'll leave you be."

Fucking finally.

Monday morning, 8:59am

Ding

Your heels clicked along the tile flooring of your office. It poured during your commute into work, which caused you to be stuck behind more traffic than usual. You didn't always mind, but it just put you in a foul mood. Especially since you had to sacrifice your Monday morning coffee run. It was ritual for you, and now the whole week felt like it was just off balance.

"Woah y/n. Your bad mood seems to have brought the bad weather," a voice called out to you.

Your gaze narrowed in the direction the voice came from. Your hair was slightly damped as you had to run into the front of the building from your parking spot because of course you didn't think it was going to run and didn't bring an umbrella with you.

Looking over, you noticed it was one of the girls from the break room on Friday. You rolled your eyes to refrain yourself from sticking up your middle finger. You just offered a polite smile before marching to your desk. As you moved, you heard her and her friends giggling at you. This is why you despised any sort of office relationship.

"Hey, y/n. You okay?" Jeonghan called out.

You were about to enter your cubicle when you saw Jeonghan overlooking your cubicle again. Your jacket rested on the back of your chair. it would be a miracle if it dried at all before the end of the day. You were also grateful you had a pair of flats you could change into in attempt to save your soaked shoes too. Plus, it as a good excuse to slip out of heels. You didn't mind wearing them but always valued comfort over appearance.

"Yeah," you murmured.

Usually, you would expect a snide comment from Jeonghan. Or a flirty attempt in righting the situation. But there was nothing. It cause you to freeze and look up to see what was going on. Jeonghan was only staring at you with almost a friendly smile on his face. Not a smirk but a smile.

You wanted to question it, but as you were calming down from your hectic morning, something else caught your attention. An iced coffee was sitting on your desk with a winky face on it. What the fuck?

You opened your mouth to question it but looked at Jeonghan instead. In response, he winked at you before slipping behind the wall that divided the two of you.

Standing there, you felt something unusual throughout your body. You felt warm and tingly, especially in your stomach. Your heart was doing somersaults. It was comparable to in cartoons when the heart leaps out of the character's chest. You stared at the coffee, specifically at the marker drawn winky face staring back at you.

Jeonghan did this? For me?

Your eyes couldn't help but wonder to see if this was a prank or if there was a hidden camera. Jeonghan still wasn't lurking in his usual spot. You also noticed that nobody else had an iced coffee on their desk awaiting for them. A blush overtook your cheeks, but you quickly sat down before anyone noticed.

Reaching forward, you moved the plastic container towards you to see it was from the local coffee shop you frequent. It was the place you went every Monday morning, the place you had to skip out on today or else you would be late. But what struck you was that he got your exact order.

Your blush intensified. You kept your head ducked as you took a sip out of the delicious drink. There was no denying the smile on your face wasn't just because of the coffee but because of Yoon Jeonghan.

And on the other side of the wall, Jeonghan was smirking to himself. He got his computer turned on before going to make himself a cup of coffee from the break room. He didn't often frequent coffee shops as they often didn't have decaf coffee. When he walked into the place around the corner from your office building, he asked the woman behind the corner if you had been in yet. Saying no and noting how odd it was, Jeonghan seized the opportuntiy. He asked for your usual order and requested a winky face drawn on it.

"Are you her boyfriend? She's mentioned there's a guy she's interested in at her place of work."

That's all the encouragement Jeonghan needed to go through with his plan. He shook his head but smiled at the barista. "No, not yet. I'm hoping this catches her attention."

And by the looks of your blushing face, he was close to winning you over. He always gets what he wants, and he certainly had his eyes locked on you.

Fall With Me - The Wild Reeds

SVT

Enemies to lovers

Ahhhhhh omg ok. Since no member was specified im gonna just choose one :) Warnings: a bad kiss is discussed, also they do make out, lawyer!jeonghan and he's a menace as per usual

The annual best friends’ trip would be going much better if it weren’t for the presence of a certain attorney.

The first time you’d met Yoon Jeonghan had been during a dizzying cross-examination of your expert information in a high-profile criminal case. As a forensic speech-pattern analyst, you had taken your job as an expert witness to testify against an almost-certainly guilty extortionist very seriously, but Jeonghan had managed to twist every one of your facts to the advantage of the man, creating just enough reasonable doubt to get the man off with a slap on the wrist.

You had sworn to hate the handsome, smooth-talking defense attorney for as long as you lived -- so imagine your shock when your friend had brought him along with the group as her plus-one because her boyfriend couldn’t make it. As her cousin, and the closest male relative she had, he was more than happy to tag along, he’d said.

And now you watch him across the room, schmoozing over your friends, unable to break it to them that he was the evil attorney that you’d complained about for weeks after the trial.

What was even worse about it was that he kept catching your eye from where he sat playing cards with your childhood friends, framed in the big windows like an angel wreathed in light, his fine features sly and knowing, more and more aggravating with every glance. You knew he remembered you by the way his eyes lit with recognition as they’d taken in all the faces in the spacious cabin. You groan internally -- this man must be your own personal demon, sent to torture you for some long-forgotten sin. And he just has to look good while doing it, doesn’t he?

“Hey, are you even listening to me?” your friend Seokmin says, suddenly.

“Oh!” you exclaim, turning back toward him with a sheepish look, but he’s grinning at you.

“You aren’t the only one staring at him,” he says. “Look at Juliette.”

Sure enough, your old college roommate is eyeing Jeonghan in interest. You know that look -- she’s going to do something she’ll probably regret later if she doesn’t get distracted soon. A part of you wonders why it always seems to be down to you to prevent disaster as you excuse yourself from Seokmin with a hurried excuse, making your way over to Juliette with a request for some snowshoeing in the newly-fallen snow outside.

But of course, the odds are not in your favor today. Jeonghan stands up, tossing in his cards after what you clock as his third poker win today. “I’d better quit while I’m ahead,” he says, and then looks up at you. “Did you say something about snowshoeing?”

Well, you can’t exactly lie to his face while all your friends are looking at you expectantly, so you give him a curt nod. “Can I come?” he asks, and there is an amused undertone to his voice that brings your already-hot temper to a boiling point.

Juliette answers first. “Of course!” she chirps, and you have no choice but to trudge into the mud room with them, your jaw set in a hard line and your eyes flashing. You suit up wordlessly while the other two make flirty conversation, somehow growing even more peeved as you listen to them.

Finally, you’re walking out into the calm, quiet forest, the snowshoes keeping your boots from sinking into the deep layer of snow frosted over the ground. You find yourself trailing behind Jeonghan and Juliette, listening to them chatter happily together, for the entirety of the hike, only finding a brief moment of relief from the anger when you pause at an overlook. Here, white-dusted fir trees spill by the thousands down a steep incline that leads to a small valley, and the sun slowly sinking seems to light everything in a pinkish glow. It’s breathtaking. You can’t help but smile.

Except for when you turn and catch a glimpse of Jeonghan staring at you.

His expression is mirroring your own: complete awe, a dumbfounded smile, eyes wide as though afraid he won’t be able to take it all in. Except he’s not looking at the view — he’s looking at you.

Juliette notices and makes a lame excuse for why she needs to head back to the cabin, ignoring your protests and leaving you alone with Jeonghan. “You remember me, don’t you?” he asks instantly when she’s out of earshot.

“Of course I do,” you say, bristling. “Liar.”

He chuckles, and you hate how cute he is when he’s laughing at you. “It’s actually ‘lawyer’, but that’s an easy mistake,” he says, unbothered by your venom.

“Look,” you say, trying to keep a moderate tone, “in case it wasn’t already clear, I really don’t like you.”

“Why not?” he asks innocently. “Because I’m good at my job?”

“Because you helped a guilty person escape justice!” you say loudly. A raven in a nearby tree takes off in fear.

His face seems to harden a little. “Tell me what you know about the defendant.”

This request takes you aback. “I don’t know anything about him,” you tell Jeonghan. “Other than his speech patterns and what they indicate.”

He looks at your face — seeming to debate with himself for a moment. Then he speaks. “He is the only caretaker for both his elderly mother, who is blind, and a young daughter still undergoing treatments for an aggressive cancer. The company he worked for was scamming its employees out of money, so he pulled a clever scam back and was able to make enough off of it to pay for his daughter to be treated at a top hospital and for his mother to have a seeing-eye dog. If he went to jail, where would they be?”

The information you’re receiving weighs on you heavily as you listen to him, and you feel your face burn with a guilty flush. “I had no idea.”

He nods shortly. “Not everything is as black-and-white as you think.”

He begins to walk away, back toward the cabin, and you have no choice but to follow him. As you enter the mud room again, stripping off your snow clothed and hanging them to dry, Jeonghan gives a soft chuckle. “Were you really that mad?”

“Yeah,” you admit, allowing him a small smile although your ego is still a bit bruised. “You made me sound like an idiot in court. I’m quite good at my job, you know.” You internally cringe at self. Why do you feel the need to justify yourself to him?

He nods in understanding. “I know you are. And you’re cute, too.”

This boldness shocks you into silence, and he gives a small giggle that almost undoes you.  “I wanted to talk to you after trial, but the look on your face was…”

“Radiant?” you say, recovering quickly with a raised eyebrow.

“Well, you were certainly radiating something,” he allows. “I was scared you’d bite me.”

You laugh. Time to play his game, you think. “I still haven’t ruled it out.”

You saunter past him as his jaw drops, taking a seat beside Seokmin and letting out a deep sigh. There’s still a nagging tension in the air though, especially when Jeonghan stations himself across the room from you with his cousin and some other friends, only to meet eyes with you every few minutes with a sparkle of curiosity in his wide eyes.

As night falls, the lights dim. One by one, people start excusing themselves to go to bed, until it’s just a gaggle of you left, you and Jeonghan included. You keep expecting Jeonghan to get up and go to bed -- you noticed on the first night of the trip that he tires easily and usually is in bed earlier than the rest of your friends -- but he never does. Instead, the air gets thicker as Jeonghan moves next to you on the couch, as nonchalant as anything, and you feel your cheeks heating up. Eventually he turns to you as the others become engrossed in their own conversation.

“So, if you knew that today was the last day of your life —“

“Are you serious?” you groan. “I’m disappointed in you.”

He looks indignant and taken aback. “Well, I’m trying to get to know you,” he says defensively.

“Yeah, but you’re asking the manic-pixie-dreamboy questions,” you tell him. “Start with something normal, and then maybe I’ll tell you my hamartia or whatever.”

He bites his bottom lip. “Uh, okay. What made you want to be a speech pathologist?”

“That’s much better,” you commend him. “And I actually have a little brother who grew up with a speech impediment that made him difficult to understand, and I spent my whole childhood translating him for others. So I guess it was something I knew I could do. Plus it was interesting to know how to help similar kids.”

Jeonghan nods. “I guess that makes sense.”

“What made you want to be a lawyer?” you shoot back.

His response is immediate. “I’m a master manipulator, and I wanted to make a lot of money. It seemed like the logical choice.”

You can’t help but laugh. “That’s the reddest red flag I’ve ever heard,” you say. “I should be running for the hills.”

“So why aren’t you?” he asks with a sly smile.

“Must be colorblind,” you say dryly. “But it’s actually because master manipulators usually aren’t so upfront with their gifts.”

He grins. “Well, I really am good at … influencing people, to a degree. But I guess I became a criminal defense attorney to broaden my view on humanity. There are people I’ve represented in court that I would hate to be alone with, and yet somehow I’ve learned that they all have a level of humanity that would surprise most people. They weren’t all good people, but they were all still people. And I think that’s made me a better person overall.”

You grin to hide how impressed you are. “And the money is good too.”

He nods. “Well, obviously.”

This earns a giggle from you, and Jeonghan turns his body to face yours. For the next three hours, you talk about everything, even as the last of the stragglers disappear with tired farewells into their bedroom. Finally, it’s just you and Yoon Jeonghan, sitting at opposite ends of a broad brown couch, laughing about one of your awkward dating stories.

“And after all that,” you say, wiping a tear of derision and amusement from your eye, “he has the nerve to kiss me!”

Jeonghan’s eyes go wide. “Did he ask first?” he asks.

“Well, yeah,” you say.

“Why did you say yes?!” he groans through laughter.

“I was so taken aback! And also, he was pretty hot,” you admit.

He looks at you skeptically. “If I asked you a question, would you answer honestly?”

“Depends on the question.”

“Give me just this one,” he pleads.

“Okay,” you say, giving in easily at the sight of his puppy eyes.

“Was he hotter than me?” he asks.

Your jaw drops. “Yoon Jeonghan.”

“You said you’d answer the question honestly,” he reminds you.

You begrudgingly consider him. “You’re hotter,” you finally answer, glad he probably can’t see you blush in this low light.

He nods, satisfied. “Okay, go on. What happened next?”

You laugh at the nonchalant way he’s handled this news. “Oh, he was a terrible kisser. All of those looks just for him to have no sensitivity at all. Jammed his tongue down my throat and everything.”

“You should’ve told him no,” he says quietly, moving almost imperceptibly closer.

“I really should’ve. Anyway, that was actually the most recent kiss I’ve had, so my experiences with kissing are all being viewed through that lens, and it’s kind of ruined for me now.” You make a face as you remember the date, and the associated kiss. By the time your shudder brings you back down to earth, Jeonghan has moved just one inch closer on the couch. You pretend not to notice.

He pins you with his gaze, though. “Are you being coy on purpose?” he asks through narrowed eyes, making another small move in your direction.

“What do you mean?” you ask him, suddenly nervous.

“We’re alone, and you openly admitted I’m hotter than the last guy you kissed --”

“After you coerced me into telling you,” you interject, amused.

“And now you’re talking about how bad he was at kissing,” Jeonghan finishes, undeterred. “Tell me what kind of conclusion I’m supposed to draw from that.” And with that, he closes the gap between you, moving so close that your thighs are touching.

You look into his eyes. This was a plot twist you didn’t see coming -- you hadn’t been able to figure out why he’d stuck around when everyone started going to bed, but his reasons for doing so were becoming more and more clear, and although you woke up this morning as his sworn enemy, you have a feeling that everything has changed.

So you stare, wanting to fall, but also wanting to stay in this moment, right here, contemplating the risk. Maybe you’ve got it wrong -- it’s certainly possible. But maybe, just maybe, you’ve run out of options for things to say, leaving just the one thought you had when he’d moved closer and asked you to tell him what to think.

“Well, you’re the lawyer,” you finally answer, barely above a soft whisper. “Figure it out.”

You catch a hint of a smile before Jeonghan’s hands are reaching up to cradle your face, bringing your lips gently, but ever so insistently, to his own.

His lips are soft and light on your own, a massive upgrade from the clumsy kisses of whoever had come before. You can’t remember that man, nor anyone else, for that matter. You barely register the feeling of the coarse couch cushions beneath you, sinking under your combined weight as Jeonghan pulls you onto his lap to continue the kiss. The light brush of his tongue over your bottom lip has you reaching for him hungrily, pulling him closer to you so you can feel his heart beating against your own.

It takes a particularly loud squeak from the couch for the both of you to realize how loud you were being. You both freeze and look at the stairs, terrified that one of your friends has caught you, before you both realize and explode into quiet giggles, pressing your foreheads together.

“Do you want to sleep in my room tonight?” you ask him breathlessly.

“I could never fall asleep with you in the same room as me,” he replies with a wicked grin.

You knew that he is gonna come home with a surprise - he send a message. And of course, you expected some kind of food, maybe just your favorite drink but no. This was completely different.

"What do you think, hm?" Jeonghan gave you a small shy smile. "Seungkwan doesn't really like it," he added with a chuckle. He also shook his head which made his hair bounce a little.

"Oh my..." you squeak slightly at that sight and immediately went closer to your boyfriend to touch his new hair. But you stopped your hand from moving and looked at him. "Can I?" you asked.

Jeonghan laughed at your cute behavior and nodded. "Of course, you can." he smiled at you and you slowly, like it would be dangerous, placed your hand on his hair.

Your eyes widened and your face showed a very beautiful smile. His hair was actually very soft and.. fluffy. "This is amazing," you said in awe and went through his hair with your hand. "I love it."

"I'm glad you like it." he gave you a small kiss on the nose. "I was very nervous about how you would react," he admitted with a small smile. "But you like it so that's amazing."

You laughed and looked at his hair once again. It was true that you like it and it was just hypnotizing you; in a good way. Jeonghan on the other hand used this situation to wrap his arms around your waist and just admire you, his beautiful loved one.

"Oh, I forgot to mention!" Lili suddenly said, grabbing your attention again after a few minutes of silence. The only thing that could be heard in the room was a TV show playing. "A new person is joining us." she gave you a small smile.

"Really?" you raised your eyebrows in surprise. It was quite rare to hear that they have a new worker that goes out; usually, it's someone who does all the paperwork and stuff like that, staying inside the building with not so much work. "But we both know how it will end." your lips shook slightly and your eyes once again focused on the phone you were holding.

"Hmm, yeah." she nodded. "But maybe he won't chicken out like the others. He will definitely come in handy with his strength," she said with hope, and now it was your turn to nod. But then you realized what she said...

"It's a boy?" you asked her a little anxiously. It's not common for boys to do this type of job and you weren't mad about it. You were glad, but... Allowing the boys to see you in this vulnerable state is terrifying and, let's face it, you were ashamed. You were ashamed of yourself, of your state, and everything that had to do with you and taking care of you.

"Yes," she said the word you didn't want to hear. "He's very nice, so there's no need to worry about anything." she tried to make it sound positive for you but this is something that just won't vanish with nice sweet words; it's a genuine fear that you'll have to face soon.

You faked a smile (maybe a little frightened) to her and then let out a small sigh. "Do you perhaps know when I'll meet him?" you asked her with not much desire to do anything anymore and took a glance at your phone in case you missed something in the game you were playing.

"I'm not sure, but I'll check if it's already there." she grabbed her phone and searched in the worker's schedule plan to see, firstly, if there is a schedule for the next week and secondly, when I'll be meeting this boy. "Haha, you'll be very happy." I knew it was bad when she looked at me.

"Just say it." you shook your head and waited for her reply. It was obvious now what her answer would be, and you had no choice but to accept it.

"Jennie will accompany him tomorrow to show him how things are going here." she put her phone back on the table and gave you a small smile. "Don't worry. I can tell him how you have it, Okay?" she raised one eyebrow in question.

"I guess." you shrugged your shoulders which probably wasn't noticeable for Lili. "I don't know... Just..." You were unable to come up with any words to express yourself. Yeah, Lili would tell him about your fear but it won't change anything.

"I will prepare him." you thanked her after receiving a small smile from her. From Lili, it's a really nice gesture, but it won't do anything, this is something that's inside you and all you can do is, suck it up and just pretend everything is fine. "Shall we go?" she suddenly asked with blue gloves in her hand.

"Of course." after you nodded and locked your phone, she grabbed it and placed it on the table to prevent it from falling and breaking. And after that, she did her job.

-🫧-

"Good morning, Y/N." you heard Jennie's voice, which means that he is here too. You didn't say anything or do anything. Jennie understands that this is normal and started preparing things for your morning hygiene while also talking to the boy.

On the other hand, it was the same as every morning (except for the weekends). One of the caregivers would come around 8.30, say good morning like you would be already awake, and then start to prepare warm water and some gel for your face to clean you up. When that is all done, they will properly wake you up.

"Wakey, wakey." Jennie gently shook your shoulder and removed a blanket from your face. "Well hello there, sleepy girl." she smiled at you when you finally opened your eyes. She laughed at your quiet greeting when you returned the smile; she always found it adorable. "How are you today?"

"Good." simple answer but you just woke up and you really don't have the energy to talk. That's the reason why you closed your eyes again for a few seconds. "How are you?" you asked in return. You always do that, so the girls who are taking care of you won't think you are rude or something. You have a rule, don't be rude to them because they are taking care of you! Your goal is to make them feel comfortable around you.

"Great." she laughed and that made you chuckle 'cause you know that it is not that great so far. "But now I am here, which is always a joy," she added and started to clean your face. "And we have some help here today. He is our new co-worker." and there goes the topic you didn't want to come, but couldn't run away from.

You opened your eyes and looked behind Jennie where you saw the boy, the new co-worker. "Hello." you smiled a little, just a tiny bit, at him. You were anxious and it was getting worse 'cause your time to go to the toilet was near.

"Hi," he answered and that was all. But you didn't mind that, you tried to trick yourself that he isn't here, so if he is not gonna talk, it will be better to imagine that.

Jennie proceeded to work without waiting any more minutes. For you, it's the same every day, so you shut your eyes again and let it all up to her. She removed the blanket completely from you and put it aside because it won't be needed for a while. She removed the long pillow from under your legs and began to take your panties off. You sucked a deep breath through your nose and tried not to think about the boy who was watching and learning how to deal with you.

Jennie dropped your panties and carefully placed your legs on the bed, so she could remove the bedpan from under your adjustable bed. She put the bedpan next to your legs, took away the lid, and moved you to your side, then back to your original position. The difference now was that you were on your toilet. Jennie placed the long pillow beside the left side of your legs and another, a small pillow, between your knees and also didn't forget to place a blanket over your legs to give you some privacy.

Although it was for your comfort, it wasn't about privacy since they had already seen everything on you, but it felt right to do it.

Everything went smoothly until the boy spoke. "Oh, now you'll brush her teeth?" he obviously asked Jennie but you were present too, and it made you feel embarrassed and you just wanted to dig yourself a hole. However, you maintain your composure to prevent this annoying feeling from arising.

"Not really, Y/N can brush it herself. You need to do the rest, which is normal," she answered him and gave you your toothbrush. You then started brushing your teeth. Although it took some time (and more head movement than hand movement), you still couldn't do it faster.

Once you've finished brushing your teeth and removing the bedpan from underneath you, it's time to wash yourself. This is followed by a terrible question. "Do you want to do it yourself?" the question came from Jennie and was meant for the boy who was now supposed to wash you. Awesome!

You inhaled deeply and waited for his reply. It was clear what the answer would be, but there was still a slight hope that he would say that it was okay and he would do it next time.

"Sure."

BAM! You have no luck. You nodded to yourself and mentally prepared yourself, or you tried. Were you being too exaggerated about this whole situation? Maybe... But you couldn't help feeling ashamed, embarrassed, and even scared. You're a girl and were taken care of your whole life by your mother, a girl. Yes, now it's your stepdad in that position, instead of your mother, but with him, it is a whole different story than with a random boy who you are seeing for the first time and so does he.

Your stepdad has essentially known you all of your life. You were eight years old when he and your mother started dating; today, you are nineteen. The only difference between him and a random boy who will likely only see you once before quitting this job is, that he went through everything with you in the same way that your mother did. Yes, it wasn't very comfortable at first when it was just your stepdad and you without your mother, but it was still better than this. Now that everything is fully normal, you two joke around with each other about this stuff.

"Okay." Jennie nodded her head and moved to the side so the boy could take her place. "Firstly, you'll wash her legs and butt and you'll put on her new clean socks and panties, which you can find right here." she pointed with her hand to a toilet chair which was most of the time used as your wardrobe.

The boy probably shook his head in agreement because you couldn't hear him talk. In a second, you heard how he dipped your sponge in the soap water and not long after that, he started to wash your right leg. It was fine until he had to open your leg to wash the inner side of it. You bit your cheeks and slightly scrunched your eyebrows. Oh, how embarrassing!

"You can scrub her with the harder side. It's better for her, right Y/N?" even with your eyes closed, you could tell Jennie was smiling while asking you.

You let your eyes open a little just to look at her. "Yeah, that's true." you nodded and closed your eyes once again. The boy just hummed and switched to the harder side of the sponge.

Soon, your legs and private parts of you were nice and clean and he started to put your panties on. Jennie of course told him how to do it (and that you can't be moved to your right side because it makes you nauseous) and he did as he was told. You had to admit, that he did a really good job. Socks were very easy to put on and he was done with your bottom.

"So, now for the top half," Jennie spoke once again. "You need to find your system of how to take her shirt on and then also put it back. But it works almost the same way as her panties, moving her on the side and back!" she said somehow with enthusiasm in her voice which surprised you but you didn't ask - maybe if you two were alone...

You enjoyed the little time you were clothed as much as you could but it still wasn't enough. He was now taking your shirt off and you could tell it was tricky for him but he managed to do so without causing you much trouble. He then washed your front and back and put the new shirt back on you. And of course, he did not forget to dry you with a towel before that.

Oh how much you tried not to think that he is washing your body and that you are naked in front of him. But the harder you tried not to think about it the more your mind was thinking exactly about that and it was annoying and you hated it. Still, you were glad he did not talk much and just did his job in silence. This way, it didn't feel that much real.

"Perfect," said Jennie. "Now it's time to brush her hair." she went from her spot and took your comb from your special corner of things that involve your hygiene. "Here." she handed it to him. "You will move her to her side and brush it. You don’t need to worry about knots, she can handle that." her lips let out a small chuckle, and that made you smile a little too.

Once again the boy did as he was told and brushed your hair. After that it was just a small things; your glasses, putting back the long pillow under your legs and slightly moving your butt into a more comfortable position. That, luckily, had to do Jennie to show him what you mean by that. The last thing was a blanket and a small adjustment of your left hand and ta-da! You were done.

"Now it's time to bring her something small to eat from the fridge." Jennie continued with the "education" of what to do with you in the morning. They both were back in just a second, Jennie placed a plate with your very small breakfast on your chest and you ate. When you were done, Jennie exchanged the plate for a bottle of coke and you took a few sips. "The last thing is to give her a phone and you can rest for the rest of the time. Another toilet time is before we have to leave," she told him and gave him a small smile while handing him her phone. "Everything good?" she asked you.

"Yes, everything is perfect. Thank you, Jennie." you smiled at her and started to do your things on your phone - that means, you will check up on your game cats and look on social media.

"Oh, I need to take that... But you two should talk more," said Jennie with a smile, and before you could say anything, she went to the next room to deal with her phone call.

You took a deep silent breath threw your nose and bit your lip. You didn't want to start first but at the same time, you thought you should. "Ehm.. hi, again." you laughed awkwardly and mentally slapped yourself. You moved your head so you could look at him sitting on a couch. On the very end of a couch far from your bed.

"Hey." he smiled at you. "My name is Jeonghan. Jennie and Lisa told me about you a lot. Actually, all the workers in the company told me about you." he chuckled. "You are their sweetheart, I heard only praises," he told you and you had to shake your head in disbelief.

"Oh god..." you mumbled. "It's... I think they overpraise me. I don't do anything at all, to be honest." you laughed. "But I am very happy, that the girls like to come here even tho, they need to deal with me." small smile crept on your lips.

You hear similar words to his a lot from new co-workers (who, in the end, didn't stay for more than a week at this job) and also from the others who are still working there. Apparently, by their words, you are nice, sweet, and polite. They always are happy when they have you that day and you make them happy too just by your presence. But you were never able to handle such nice words, so you just laughed and said, that it can't be true. The conversation about that ended with that.

"They say all of these nice things just because they need to deal with grumpy old people," you told him with a kind smile. Yes, you still did not fully accept him as your new caregiver but you are not a bad person to be angry with him just because of that - because he is a man. "That's it." you chuckled and looked at your phone to see your cats in the game you play more like a routine now.

"Hm, I don't think so," he said after a while. "I don't know you that much but just by the small talk a gestures you had with Jennie, I can tell that it's true." he gave you a big smile and you weren't sure how to react. You never were. The kind words towards you said by some other people never felt right in your brain.

"Well... I thank you?" you just smiled. "And how old are you, Jeonghan? You seem very young to be doing this job," you remarked and it was true. Usually, it's not that boys don't do this job but young people in general, so you were curious.

Jeonghan laughed. "You are welcome, Y/N. But you didn't have to thank me in the first place." he was still smiling at you. "I am almost thirty. Not that young anymore." he laughed once again.

"Okay okay." you laughed too. "But why this job? Boys don't do this and I know that. I can truly say I am lucky with my stepdad." now, you got away from the game and locked your phone, so you could give Jeonghan your full attention.

"I took care of others all the time, that's why." he simply answered. "I know, boring answer but there isn't anything special behind this." he nodded his head. "But I promise, I don't bite."

"Oh... Lisa talked to you?" you nervously laughed while he nodded his head in answer. "It’s nothing against you, Okay? It’s just..." you struggled with your words. There wasn't really a nice way to describe it, you just don't feel comfortable to be seen naked by a boy.. a man. But you can't do anything about it in your situation and that makes you angry about yourself even more.

"Hey, don't worry." he moved on the couch a little closer to you. "I get why you are feeling this way. I would too. And I promise to make you feel comfortable around me. If you don’t like anything, tell me and I figure something else." he gave you a reassuring smile.

"Thanks." you send a small sad smile to him and move your gaze to the TV that is playing some show you have probably seen dozens of times already.

It was nice of him that he understood what you were feeling but those words just won't make the weird feeling about him disappear; it will take time and knowing yourself, it will take a long way for you and your mind.

"I'm back." Jennie came back and sat on the couch next to Jeonghan. "And with some news," she added and you immediately looked at her with raised eyebrows. "Jeonghan will have just some of our clients and you're one of them, Y/N!" she smiled.

"Guess we will see each other often then." he looked at you with concern. He could sense that you don’t want him to be taking care of you, hence, you basically told him that, and now this. Life really is just a bad joke to you...

"Yeah..." you nodded and then smiled to not seem disappointed by this news. Once again, you took a deep breath and tried to find something positive about it - maybe you won't have the one girl anymore who is just complaining about everything and does her job poorly.

Luckily, the next day was already the weekend, which meant that your stepdad was free from work and was now taking care of you. And that also means that you have two days to convince yourself, that you'll be alright with Jeonghan. What a hard task...

-🫧-

Monday has come and with that also comes Jeonghan - of course, he had to come on the first day of the week, it's just how your life is. And thanks to Lisa, who writes you every Sunday and will come in the week to take care of you, you know that Jeonghan will come two more times, great.

Today, Jeonghan was already on his own which scared you more than you thought but you were quite good at not letting it show. And because it was only his second time (first time alone) here, you had to still help him. That also made things a little bit better, 'cause there was no time for stupid overthinking that Jeonghan is, in fact, a boy.

"Is it alright like this?" he asked you and looked at you when he put the bedpan under you. "I'm not sure if it sits right?" he let out an awkward laugh.

"It's perfect." you nodded your head and smiled a little. It was true, he placed it perfectly under you, and for his first time, it was impressive. Not everyone can master it on their first try; not even after many many other tries...

You have to say, Jeonghan does such a good job and he remembers most of the stuff he was told on Friday. He also uses his brain and does think logically, which you would think that everyone does, but no. Some caregivers just don't think during this job and make simple things somehow hard. Jeonghan also tried to conversate with you while he was washing you up.

"How was your weekend? Did you do something fun?" he asked while he put new and clean socks on you. Your bottom was already nicely washed, which you didn't even realize he was done with.

"It was good." simple answer. "If you consider listening to songs and watching YouTube videos to be fun, then yes, I did something fun," you said while a small chuckle escaped your lips. "You know, I'm always at home. I don't like going out."

"Well, it was fun for you. That's all that matters." he gave you a small smile and you smiled back. "Can I move to the top?" with this question, he hinted if he could take off your shirt and continue his job.

"Of course." you nodded. "And how was your weekend?" because you don’t want to be impolite, you asked him too, to keep the conversation going. And also because you didn't want to think about the washing up.

"I was just at home and relaxing. There wasn't much going on," he answered you while taking your shirt off. "Oh, sorry. Hope I didn't pull your hair?" he apologized almost immediately when his hand touched your head. He needed to lift you, just a little bit, and he was scared he grabbed you in the wrong spot.

"No, it's Okay. You did not pull my hair, don't worry," you assured him even with a small smile. "If you did pull my hair, I think I would scream," you said while laughing.

"Okay, I'll believe you." he nodded and threw your shirt on the ground to the rest of your laundry. "But please, if I ever grab you badly and it will hurt, tell me."

"I will."

Jeonghan once again nodded his head and without another word started to wash your top half. Everything went smoothly and soon enough you were lying comfortably in your bed nice and clean with new clothes. When you were done, Jeonghan cleaned up after himself.

"Now... Now you will have breakfast, right?" he asked you and when you gave him a green that he was right, he went to the kitchen to look inside the fridge. "What would you like to have?"

"There should be a plate with brownies, so if I can have that, please," you answered him. "Oh, and don't give me everything. I want just a small piece," you added kinda important information because you're not a breakfast person. You're not hungry in the morning but still take something small, just because.

You could hear how Jeonghan is looking for a plate and knife, perhaps a fork too. You also heard how is cutting a piece for you and then you realized he can have some too. "You can have a piece too if you want to."

"Thank you, it's nice of you but I have to decline," he said while putting the rest of the brownies back in the fridge. You just nodded to yourself and thanked him, when he gave you your plate with a fork, which you forgo to mention that you want. "Do you need help?" he looked at you.

"No, I should be able to do this by myself. Thank you." you smiled and started to eat the breakfast that was given to you by one of your stepdad's relatives.

Jeonghan sat on the couch next to you and grabbed papers that he needed to fill. The papers are from the company that you are under and all the caregivers need to fill them up with information about what they did that day with you. You know, wash you up, give you food, and so on. After he was done, you were done too, so he took your plate and went with it to the kitchen where he washed it and put it back in its place. Jeonghan also returned to his place and you were both silent. Luckily, there was a TV playing so it was not a complete silence.

"Can I.. ask what happened to you?" Jeonghan suddenly asked a question you expected him to ask. "You don’t need to answer if it’s uncomfortable for you."

"No no, I am fine. I never had a problem talking about this." you smiled at him. You weren't lying, you were absolutely okay with answering it. This has been part of you for some years now, of course, people will ask, they are curious. Everyone is. "Well... I have something that is called muscular dystrophy. In easy words, it means that muscles in my whole body are getting weaker and weaker with each day passing by. I was unfortunate enough that it started this quickly." you told him.

"When did it start?"

"I must had it already when I was born but it started around four. I wasn't walking well and physically I was horrible." you let out a small laugh. "I ended up in a wheelchair when I was nine and since that day, it went downhill."

"I'm sorry to hear that. It must have been hard." he gave you a small sad smile. "I can't imagine how hard everything was, and still is." he exhaled quite sharply.

"Yeah." you shrugged your shoulders. "But there is nothing I can do and pitying myself isn't an option for sure. That won't change anything." you chuckled.

"I heard there was a donation that our company made for you because of your story." he slightly changed the topic but you can't blame him. It is still awkward to hear something like this when you did not experience it yourself and you don’t know what to say to that or react.

"Oh, yeah." you laughed and looked away. "Something was going on... You can read about it. It's on that table, they wanted me to write my story so they can have it for the people who would want to donate." you moved your head to the table where was your story on a piece of paper.

"Can I?" slowly, he started to get up so he could take the paper. You gave him a positive answer and he grabbed the paper and started to read to himself.

'Hi, everyone,

My name is Y/N, I am 19 years old and today I will tell you about my life. I was born as a healthy girl, who wasn't really gifted in doing good in sports. Me and my mom didn't really think much about it because not everyone is a sporty person but later it turned out to be something much worse than me just being clumsy. I used to trip on air and fall and that was happening many times in a day. When I was seven, the doctor sent me to some surgery, where they had to take a small piece of my leg muscle to do tests on it. They found out I have something called muscular dystrophy, which makes the muscles in my whole body weaker and weaker. You can probably guess where is this going...

In third grade, I fell on stairs in school and broke my arm. The same year I broke my other arm. In sixth grade, I had to have back surgery because of scoliosis that was caused by sitting in a wheelchair. You would have thought that this surgery was a good idea but because of that, I stopped walking completely and I had to start using an electric wheelchair. After that, you could say my life was okay. I was visiting my grandma, and friends but... Then came another harsh part of my life.

Two years ago, they found out my mom had cancer. She had surgery and many chemo. Doctors told us she was doing great, that she was basically cancer-free and everyone was so happy. A few months later, she had another surgery which was a big mistake. Her condition got so much worse, that doctors let her go home with words, she didn't have much time. Because my mom was taking care of me 24/7, there was now no one. Her husband, my stepdad, had to go to work (he was the only one making money), and he found me a company that was, and still is, sending caregivers to our house.

We also were thinking, who will take care of me after my mom is gone? Everyone for sure things, that family would take care of me and we did too. Mom asked her sister who agreed but a few days later she said, she won't do it.

There comes my dad to the scene.

He still lives with his parents and he used to visit me once in two weeks when I was at my grandma's because he did not want to drive around twenty minutes to a different town. At first, he said that I was his daughter and he would never put me somewhere in the hospital or anything like that and Mom even told him that I might come to him very soon. When the time came, he turned his back on us, on me.

That is not all! In one of our family gatherings, they started to talk about mom's condition and stepdad said, to see how they would react, that I might have to be put in some place for disabled people. Everyone agreed without asking ME about MY opinion about it. They just decided on what was best for them, which was to get rid of me so they didn't have to take responsibility.

Not even my father talked about it with me, he just told me that he has his girlfriend, his life and he doesn't want to ruin this said life. He even dared to call social services on me that I lived in a household that was not suitable for me, even dangerous. What a lie... Three social workers came to visit me and asked me about my opinion on all of that and I told them, that I didn't wanna go away to some of those places and they agreed with me. They told me, that it's crazy to put someone who can think by themselves in those places and my stepdad told them, he would be keeping me. He just wanted to know, what my family would do.

Sadly, some days later, my mom passed away...

With that said, I live with my stepdad who is basically a stranger to me now. I also have a younger brother who is still too young to understand some of those adult things.

Thank you for your time ♡'

"I... I have no words. That is... That is absolutely horrible. How can a family treat you like this?" his voice got a little louder at the end with anger.

"I don't have an answer for that." you shook your head. "Or maybe I do." you looked at him. "They don't want to ruin their lives. They don't want to lose their freedom. That is the reason." you had a sad smile on your face. "I stopped talking to them after all of that."

"So they ruined yours instead." he scoffed. "Family shouldn't think like that. I think you did the right thing that you stopped talking to them."

"Yeah... At least I found out what they were as people and what they thought about me. They never liked me or my mom, we were some dirt to them." you took a deep breath and rolled your eyes.

"I'm very sorry for what happened and also for your loss," he told you after a few minutes of complete silence that started after you stopped talking.

"It's Okay, you did nothing wrong. You didn't do any of that." you shook your head and gave him a small smile.

-🫧-

The past few weeks went without anything interesting. In that time you had Jeonghan a few times, it still didn't feel really good but it was getting better which made you happy. You and Jeonghan always had something to talk about and he even showed interest in the stuff you like, so you were happy when he was with you. You became friends.

Today was Jeonghan supposed to come which he did and you were happy that it was him that day because you weren't feeling good in both ways, mentally and physically. You were sick and even tho today you were doing better, yesterday was absolutely horrible for you.

"Good morning, Y/N." Jeonghan smiled at you when you finally opened your eyes and looked at him. "How are you today?"

"Morning," you mumbled and looked away after he asked his question about, how you are doing. "I... I am sick, so it is not that great." you tried to chuckle a little bit.

"Oh, I'm sorry. Do you still want to wash up? I don't want you to be cold so you won't feel worse." he asked you and placed a hand on yours.

"No, that's.. that's..." you wanted to continue but your emotions overflowed inside you and you started to cry.

"Y/N? Hey, it's Okay." he moved his hand on yours up and down a few times. "What's wrong? You can tell me, I'm here for you."

You felt so many things at once but there was also embarrassment. You didn't want to cry in front of him, you never liked to cry when people were around. Usually, you could keep everything to yourself till you went to sleep and were alone, then you let it all out and still tried to be quiet about it.

"I a-am sorry..." you tried to take a deep breath but the crying was stranger than you. "My s-stepdad, he... H-he was so an-ngry with me for being s-sick. He..." you had to pause.

Yesterday, when you became sick, it was harsh. There was coming so much fluids from both of your ends and you couldn't stop it just by a whip of a finger. You were already feeling like shit but your stepdad made it much worse. Not that he was angry, but he told you, he won't take care of you anymore if you're sick and that you should tell the social worker that you need to go away.

"He t-told me, he can't d-do this an-nymore and I need-d to write a social w-worker to find me so-ome place." you once again tried to take a deep breath. "I get he is t-tired from w-work but it's not m-my fault for bei-ing sick. Like... I can't con-ntrol it."

"I am sure, he did not mean it." his face showed concern. "He was probably just stressed from work." he stroked your hair with a sad look on his face.

"If he didn't me-eant it, he wouldn't sa-ay it." you shook your head. There has been so much going on in your head since yesterday and so many negative thoughts.

"It's true that you are not the one to blame for being sick. It just happened. And let's be honest, it was probably one of us who brought something with us. We may not be sick but we still can make others sick." he told you and went away from you. He came back with a tissue and started to wipe your face.

You just nodded your head. You wanted to talk, you had so much to say but at the same time, you just wanted to be silent. Talking bad about your stepdad feels wrong because he took you under his roof but you're not the wrong here. You are sick, it's not the end of the fucking world so why he makes it seem like it?

Jeonghan could sense that you wanted to be silent for now, so he started doing his job without saying a word. He already knew what to do and didn't need your guidance anymore, which was perfect for a time like this. Soon enough, you were already done with hygiene; Jeonghan was such a great caregiver.

"Can I have my phone first?" you asked him when you saw him bringing you a plate with breakfast. "I... I want to deal with that situation first."

"Of course." he put the plate on a table and gave you your phone. Jeonghan then sat on the couch and was waiting for you to tell him, that you wanted your breakfast.

You took a shaky breath and opened a chat with your stepdad. You knew you were not strong enough to message the social worker so you asked your stepdad if he could do that for you. You even apologized for being sick, which is ridiculous. Why would you have to apologize for this normal thing that can happen to anyone? But you felt like it. He made you feel like it's your fault like everything is your fault.

A new wave of tears burned your eyes but you took a couple of small deep breaths to stop you from crying again; you need to be strong. After sending the message, you placed your phone on the bottom of your stomach and looked at Jeonghan. "Can I have it now, please?"

Jeonghan gave it to you. "Thank you," you told him and started slowly eating. You're not a breakfast person but this time you weren't hungry at all.

Somehow you managed to eat it all and after you were done, Jeonghan gave you your bottle of Coca-Cola; you are only living on that. It's not healthy but you told yourself you won't care about this.

A big problem (and not the only one, probably the least horrible one) with your condition is, that if you live only on water and apples, you would still gain weight very quickly so what is the point of not eating and drinking whatever you want when it will have the same result? With that said, that sometimes doesn't stop you thinking about yourself like a fat pig that should lose some weight.

Sometimes you think your mind is making big jokes on you with all of those thoughts that are one time nice and the other time bad.

"It will end up okay," said Jeonghan suddenly. You looked at him not very sure about that; he doesn't know your stepdad. "I know it will. He wouldn't keep you just to put you away because of something small like this." he sounded so sure about it.

"I hope so." you swallowed hard. Anxiety was building up in you and you were scared, really scared. The thoughts of what is going to possibly happen were still running and fresh in your mind. It was exhausting. "But it seemed like it isn't that small to him," you added and looked away from him.

After you were done talking, your phone vibrated which meant you received a message back from your stepdad. You grabbed your phone and with another deep breath opened the chat to read it.

"I'm staying here," you said out loud to inform Jeonghan. "But I can't get sick again," you said slightly annoyed. Easier said than done but for him everything is easy because he thinks like that.

"That is good news. Not the one about not being sick but that will change over time." he smiled at you. "It's gonna be good for some time again, don't worry." he tried so hard to be positive about it but you knew yours. Still, you just nodded and thanked him.

When Jeonghan left, you broke down crying again. You just needed to let everything out and clear your mind a little bit. It may have not helped your sickness but you couldn't hold your tears anymore and you also needed calm before your stepdad got back from work. Crying in front of him is forbidden, that is one of your rules (because he would just mock you a tell you, you have no reason to cry).

Luckily, your sickness went away throughout the day and you were calm enough to deal with any outburst your stepdad has prepared for you, which you wish he did not but you won't know until he returns home.

-🫧-

Jeonghan earned your trust very quickly. It might have helped the fact, that you cried in front of him but you'll never admit that. You were finally comfortable around him but there were times when you still felt a little awkward. Both of you shared stories from your life and talked about nothing and anything. It was more like a friend is helping a friend type of relationship than a caregiver to a patient. It was nice.

But everything good in your life must have an early end...

"Lisa?" Jeonghan sat down next to you on the couch. "I.. I don't know what to do so I called you," he told her.

"Jeonghan, what are you talking about?" Lisa was obviously confused about why is Jeonghan calling her and what even is he talking about.

"It's, Y/N, she..."

Saying that everything good in your life must have an early end was not the right thing, no. It should be, that you finally found your piece for once. And last...

"She is not breathing. She... She is dead."

"Let's go back inside, hm?" you heard your boyfriend's voice as he stood up from the small bench in the backyard.

"Just a little longer, please?" you looked up at him from your spot, giving him a small pout that you knew he couldn't resist.

Jeonghan, despite feeling the chill and knowing you did too, nodded in agreement with a faint smile. "Fine." he breathed out. "Just a little longer," he repeated your request.

Though he agreed with you, he still headed back inside the house. Truthfully, you were asking him if you could stay a little longer because you knew how easily he got cold, and you didn't want him to suffer out here with you. Yeah, you're no different from him, but you simply wanted to enjoy watching the rain fall a little while longer.

Today was actually supposed to be much different. You and Jeonghan had planned to go for a small walk around your quiet neighborhood and maybe get some ice cream because the lady on TV said the sun would be proudly shining in the sky; well... it was the complete opposite. Yet, you didn't mind. In reality, you loved rainy days, and your wish was always to be out in the rain, getting soaked and just enjoying the beautiful moment, with your boyfriend of course (who would simply call you a romantic fool, with a fond smile on his face, if he knew about this small wish of yours).

"Hm?" you looked around yourself, a little confused about what was happening. You soon found out it was only Jeonghan who had put a blanket around you to keep you nice and warm. "Thank you." you gave him a small smile filled with appreciation and snuggled more into the fluffy blanket.

"Anytime, my Y/N." he gave you a warm and loving kiss that felt nice on your cold cheek. "Guess I came just in time." he laughed a little with you.

Of course, Jeonghan didn't forget about himself and brought a blanket for himself too, so he could stay outside with you and watch the rain fall down on your garden. Slowly, he moved his arms around you to be much closer to you, which you both appreciated and loved.

Planning Your SVT Wedding: Part 2

Part 2 in this series features groom Jeonghan, and the choices I would make aesthetically if I were to marry him. Yes I know I’m delusional.

It’s giving princess. It’s giving feminine and flirty. It’s giving…pink. We’re calling this “royal coquette”. Or something. Anyway let’s get into it!!

For the ring! For some reason I see Jeonghan pulling out something extravagant when he pops the question. It’s still elegant and classy, but it’s definitely glamorous.

Planning Your SVT Wedding: Part 2

For the dress: something that says whimsical and princessy and feminine just feels right. A ball gown or a-line silhouette with puffy sleeves? Or maybe even a COLORFUL FLORAL MOMENT? Or no sleeves if we’re going more old-Hollywood, Grace Kelly vibes.

Planning Your SVT Wedding: Part 2

For the accessories: something simple — we’re letting the dress do the talking.

Planning Your SVT Wedding: Part 2

And for hair, HAVING A BOW (instead of the traditional veil) COULD BE SO CUTE AND MATCH THE VIBES???

Planning Your SVT Wedding: Part 2
Planning Your SVT Wedding: Part 2

Jeonghan would OF COURSE be matching the vibes perfectly… why do I desperately need to see him in a pink velvet suit jacket? Like this:

Planning Your SVT Wedding: Part 2

I mean come on. He’d eat this up.

For the decor:

Planning Your SVT Wedding: Part 2

Absolutely beautiful and with extraordinary attention to detail. Elegant and feminine and lovely. The venue could look something like this:

Planning Your SVT Wedding: Part 2

Ugh so dreamy.

And that’s what I’d do if I were marrying Jeonghan!! What do you think?

Pretty Boy | Jeonghan

I can't help myself from writing enemies to lovers Jeonghan, because he provides the source material himself. Also big thanks to Hani @vanillacheol for letting me use her name and likeness to a) provide our MC with a bestie and b) provide Seungcheol with a girlfriend. Anyway, here are the details: Word count: 8.3k Summary: After a complicated first date, you swear to hate Jeonghan forever, but fate has other plans >:) Genre: E2L, academic rivals to lovers, royalty au kind of, college au kind of Warnings: reader is referred to using feminine pronouns and other identifiers, reader is mentioned to be wearing a skirt and a gown on separate instances, Jeonghan calls reader "princess" a lot (because she is), there are pranks mentioned, pressure to choose someone to marry is mentioned, lots of name-calling, a couple of arguments, lots of kissing, some suggestive language, some brief actual bullying (not between Jeonghan and MC), long-hair Jeonghan (def needs a warning), and Jeonghan is an absolute menace as per usual.

“Are you listening to me?” your friend Hani asks, bringing you back down to earth.

The truth is, you hadn’t been listening to her at all. You’d been miles away in your mind, daydreaming of home. “I’m sorry,” you say sheepishly. “Would you mind repeating?”

Hani rolls her eyes. “I was asking,” she says pointedly, “if you’ve got a flight for my birthday ball yet.”

“Of course,” you reply. “Why?”

She fidgets nervously — a telltale sign she’s hiding something. “Oh, no reason,” she says, trying to sound casual and failing miserably.

Your grin drops. “He’s coming,” you realize. “Jeonghan is coming to your birthday ball after all.”

“I know what you’re going to say, and I need you to be rational about it. Jeonghan is Seungcheol’s best friend, and I couldn’t just not invite him.” Hani plays with her pearl bracelet, a gift from her boyfriend, and avoids eye contact with you. She’s gotten more assertive since she started her relationship with Seungcheol, the prince of a nearby country, who’d fallen in love with your friend at freshman orientation at your posh private college. They’d been together for a year and a half, and six months ago she never would’ve said any of that to you, carefully concealing her real feelings behind a placid smile.

It’s for this reason you’re grateful for Seungcheol. He’s helped your friend feel confident and strong, and you can tell how much he loves her. He’s also kind and thoughtful and genuine and funny, very down-to-earth despite being a prince, and full of good advice when you need it. Becoming his friend has been a huge perk of the relationship he has with Hani.

The one major downside? Yoon Jeonghan. He’s Seungcheol’s best friend from home, the son of a high-ranking military leader in Seungcheol’s home country, and apparently they were raised like brothers. Unlike sweet and harmless Seungcheol, though, Jeonghan is a devil in disguise. Blessed with the face of a fairy prince, with intellect to match, he was confident to the point of arrogance and seemed to always get exactly what he wanted. He could sweet-talk even the strictest professors into extending deadlines just for him, and had a penchant for connecting especially accommodating students and teachers to job opportunities and networking events and even really nice favors — once he paid for one of the school secretaries to fly to a tropical island with her new husband just because she straightened out an attendance issue for him.

You had butt heads with Jeonghan almost upon first sight, which had coincidentally been on a date that Hani insisted you go on. “You’ll love him,” she had oozed.

“Are you sure you’re not just trying to fulfill your lifelong dream of us dating brothers?” you’d grumbled, trying to avoid showing how nervous you’d been.

“They’re not really brothers,” Hani had reminded you, “but of course I would love it if you dated Jeonghan for real. He’s perfect for you, trust me.”

She’d had to eat her words when you came home from the date soaked to the bone, a murderous glare in your eyes. “He is without a doubt the most bull-headed, self-important, cocky, absolutely despicable human being I’ve ever met. I never want to see him again,” you’d fumed.

“What happened?” Hani had exclaimed, rushing to grab you a towel. She listened sympathetically as you recounted how it had all gone down.

It had actually started off well. Jeonghan struck you as the kind of person who could make a brick wall feel clever and important, and he was a perfect gentleman at first. He’d even addressed you as “my lady”, a reference to your position as eldest princess of a small island country, until you begged him to relax, but the level of decorum he’d approached you with had bolstered your confidence a bit.

“So...princess,” he’d said cautiously after you’d insisted he call you by your name, and you’d rolled your eyes at this. “How’s the island these days?”

“Are you asking me about foreign policy on our date?” you had asked with a raised eyebrow.

“No, I’m asking you about your home,” he’d countered. “What’s it like there? It’s one of the few places I’ve never been.”

“Oh, really?” Your eyes lit up. “Well, it’s much warmer than it is here.”

“Naturally,” Jeonghan had said. “Do you miss that?”

“More than anything,” you’d said, frowning at the snow falling in soft piles outside. “Near the palace is this one stretch of beach -- you sort of have to hike through a small jungle to get there, but nothing too bad, you know -- and when it snows like this I have to remind myself that it still exists and I can go back there one day.”

Jeonghan grinned. “What does it look like?”

“Well, there’s a thick treeline since it’s just past the woods, but that means it’s very private. It’s got the most beautiful sand -- it’s pink!”

“Pink sand?” Jeonghan had repeated, his head propped up by one hand as he gazed at you, rambling on excitedly.

“Yeah, it’s from a micro-organism that lives in the coral reefs that grow around the island. There are a few different pink beaches on our island, but this one is special. Hardly anyone knows about it. Seokmin -- my cousin, you know, the theater major -- found it first, and I’ve been going there ever since.” You caught sight of him watching you and felt your face heat up. “Uh, sorry. I got carried away.”

“No, no, it was cute,” he reassured you, which made you feel even more embarrassed.

“What about you?” you had asked, and you’d listened with rapt attention as Jeonghan had described the mountainous region he hailed from, with so many clever little asides that made you laugh. You were generally more of a “black cat” type personality, but Jeonghan was bringing out an eager, girlish side of you that almost no one got to see. He made you feel like your blood had become carbonated -- like little tiny bubbles were flowing all over your body, all tingly and excited.

The conversation had lasted hours, covering everything from your families (yours was close, his was rather distant) to your favorite foods (seafood for you, fried chicken for him) to the most unusual kinds of music you liked (film scores for you, musical theater songs for him). Finally, with all your food eaten and the drinks all but drained from their fancy bottles, it had come time to talk about education. “If you weren’t a princess, what would you be studying?” Jeonghan had asked.

“I think I would still want to learn about public policy, especially as it relates to nonprofits,” you had replied. “At my core, I want to use what I know to help others, and there’s almost no easier way to do that than improve the legal conditions for charity work.”

Jeonghan nodded thoughtfully. “You might be the biggest nerd I’ve ever met,” he finally said with a grin.

You had gasped, pretending to be scandalized. “Even bigger than you, Mr. Political Science?”

He shook his head. “Imagine how cool I’d have to actually be to be studying poli-sci and still be considered cool.”

“Oh, are you considered cool?” you’d teased. “I hadn’t heard that.” (Which was a lie. When a girl in your dorm had found out who you were going on the date with, she’d almost keyed your car out of jealousy. Jeonghan was notoriously cool.)

He clapped a hand over his chest. “Please don’t wound me like this. My reputation is all I have.”

You looked him up and down in the way that tabloid articles had called your “man-eater move.” “Just your reputation, pretty boy?” you questioned lightly. “How disappointing.”

Jeonghan’s eyes got wide, but he recovered quickly. “I actually have one more thing. Way more important than my reputation.” He said it so seriously that you leaned forward in interest.

“What is it?” you asked, looking up at him through your eyelashes.

He leaned forward to match you and whispered in your ear softly, “A fully completed Death Star Lego set.”

And you had burst into laughter. People were generally easy for you to read, but Jeonghan took you by surprise every time. The rest of the meal was full of giggles and simmering tension. More than once you caught yourself staring at him and wondering what it’d be like to kiss the smirk right off his gorgeous face.

Which is how you found yourself in the custodian closet at that very restaurant twenty minutes later doing exactly that.

He had begun it -- suggesting a quick bathroom break that you somehow understood with your eyes, and on your way in he’d pulled you right into that tiny closet and pressed his mouth to yours like it might be the last thing he ever did. You were surprised at how strong this lithe boy was as his arms wrapped around your waist, his hands tightening into fists around the fabric of your skirt at your hips as he pressed you up against one of the shelves, knocking several bottles of cleaning wipes onto the floor. You had gasped and pulled away, just enough that you could look at him. “Careful, pretty boy,” you’d hummed breathlessly as you pulled him back for more, and he’d groaned.

“Call me that one more time, princess, I dare you,” he’d murmured against your lips.

“Is that a threat?” you’d whispered back, knotting your fingers into his long hair, perfectly content to let him do whatever it was he’d had in mind.

But then his cellphone, which had somehow slipped out of his pocket onto the floor, rang. Loudly. You both dived for it, worried that someone would hear, and you reached it first. After silencing it, you saw a familiar notification pop up on Jeonghan’s phone.

“No way!” you’d exclaimed quietly. “Are you in Exploration of Debate?” It was an online class you were taking as a general, where you posted anonymously on an online debate forum. The person with the highest number of won debates was the person with the highest grade, and to your chagrin, you were in second place after a devastating loss to “TwinkleToes17”. In fact, so ruthless was TwinkleToes that they’d gained a reputation outside the class as someone who was a pure psychopath, willing and ready to twist every word to their advantage. It seemed like everyone on campus had heard of this person.

Which is why you’d burst out of the closet two minutes after. “I can’t believe this,” you’d yelled, not caring that the other restaurant patrons and the wait staff were staring at you. You’d ripped your coat off your chair, grabbed your bag, and ran out into the wet, snowy evening, Jeonghan hot on your trail.

“I don’t understand why you’re so upset. It’s a class,” he’d insisted, jogging to keep up with your dramatic pace, a laugh in his voice that only made your anger more overwhelming.

“Okay, firstly, even outside the class everyone knows you’re a monster,” you’d said. “And secondly, you manipulated me and twisted every word that I said to win that debate.” The third thing, which you hadn’t said, is that you couldn’t bear looking stupid in front of anyone, even if no one knew it was you. Mistaken, fine. Naive, sure. But never stupid.

And Jeonghan had made you look really stupid.

So you’d ignored his repeated calls after you, until he’d finally got frustrated and stopped following you. You’d walked the entire five kilometers home in the snow, arriving soaked and cold and grumpier than you’d possibly ever been. Worse was when you shared classes with Jeonghan for the next two semesters, unraveling your plan to never see him again.

When recounting this story to Hani, you left out the part about the short-lived makeout session in the closet and the undeniable chemistry between the two of you. You, instead, focused on the massive betrayal of learning about his online activities, Hani had scolded you for being too stubborn, prideful, and competitive, and that had been the end of it.

But the true rivalry had begun six months ago. You had had to go over to Seungcheol’s apartment to take care of Hani while he was away. Hani usually stayed at his place when she was sick, mainly because Seungcheol was the world’s biggest worrywart and called her constantly when he couldn’t be there while she wasn’t feeling her best.

So you had driven to his place, to hopefully ease some of her suffering (and Seungcheol’s), completely forgetting who he lived with. To your shock, it was Jeonghan who answered the door. “Ah, princess,” he’d exclaimed. “Welcome.”

The way he’d beamed when he saw you was infuriating. Peeking around his shoulder, you made venomous eye contact with Hani, who was sitting in a heap on the couch, her eyes red and watery with her illness. “How are you?” you asked, pointedly stepping around Jeonghan to go to her.

“I’m suffering,” she said. “But Jeonghan has been taking really good care of me.”

“Has he, now,” you’d said in a deadpan voice.

“Well, now that you’re here, I need to run some errands,” Jeonghan had said, quickly excusing himself to go to the grocery store. You had tended to Hani while he left, not turning when he’d called a goodbye over his shoulder as he stepped out into the night.

Watching Hani was mostly uneventful. You brought her water when she finished her glass and watched TV together until Seungcheol came back. As you’d stood up to leave Hani and Seungcheol, who were snuggled together on the couch, Hani asked if you would grab the ibuprofen out of Jeonghan’s bathroom.

You had been surprised (and a little annoyed) at how clean it was inside, but he had left his toothbrush out on the counter, which immediately made you think of the fluorescent blue dye you had in your bag that you had needed for a recent experiment in your geology class. The dye, coincidentally, was colorless until it reacted to saliva, and stained everything around it a shocking shade of blue for several hours before fading completely. You had tried to be good, you really had -- you’d almost left the bathroom without doing anything to the toothbrush -- but there was a petty streak in you that desperately wanted Jeonghan to feel even one bit as foolish as he’d made you feel. Plus, when were you ever going to get an opportunity like this again?

This had been the beginning of the prank war between you and Jeonghan. The following week, you’d come home to a flock of confused pigeons trapped in your apartment. “Where did he even get a flock of pigeons?” you had muttered as you mopped your hardwood floors free of all the lingering gifts that the birds had left for you.

“Beats me,” Hani said, spraying your tabletop with cleanser. “But I think this is a good learning experience for you. Jeonghan is really sweet, but he’s competitive, and he’ll do anything to win.”

“Oh, but I’m the exact same way,” you’d told her with a grim determination.

And so, it had continued. One week you were swapping out Jeonghan’s bar of soap for one that was almost identical but had a particularly itchy ingredient, the next week Jeonghan rearranged the letters on your keyboard and made it nearly impossible for you to finish your assignments in time, the week following you stole his textbooks and replaced them with poorly written erotic novels.

The pranks had only escalated the academic rivalry you’d had, especially as the two of you had striven to derail the other. When the exam results came out, you were elated to learn that despite Jeonghan’s efforts, you had come out of the semester at the top of the class — with Jeonghan just below you at number 2, by .02 points. Now, as you were about to fly to Hani’s birthday ball during spring break, your elation has been crushed. “Are you still going to come?” Hani asks, giving you her big sad eyes that you can’t say no to.

And because this is Hani, who knows you better than anyone and has always been there for you, you already know what you have to say. “Of course I’m going to come,” you reassure her. “It’s your birthday. I suppose I knew he’d probably end up deciding to come. But I’ll be darned if I let a man get between us.” You can’t suppress an eye roll. “Especially not that man.”

“You’re the best!” Hani exclaims. “Do you have a dress yet?”

“I have a few options,” you say. “I’ll take them with me so we can try things on together and you can help me choose.” You grin at her squeal of delight and try not to think about all the strategizing you’re going to have to do to avoid Jeonghan at the ball.

******

“You’ve got to be kidding,” you groan.

Jeonghan grins from the seat beside yours. “What? Did you want the window seat?” he asks, pointing out the small window of the airplane. It’s one of those huge jets with two stories, built for a seventeen-hour flight across the world, and yet, of all the seats you could be sitting in, of course Jeonghan is sitting in the next one over.

You huff as you sit down. “Why didn’t you fly with Cheol?”

“He flew with Hani,” Jeonghan replies. “I didn’t want to third-wheel for that many hours in a row.”

That’s honestly pretty fair, but you can’t let him see you agree, so you roll your eyes. “Well, this is actually good. I needed to talk to you.”

“About?”

“The ball. We have to call a truce on our war.”

“Our war?” Jeonghan repeats with a raised eyebrow.

You clear your throat. “Our...rivalry.”

“I would call it a ‘friendly competition’,” he tells you.

“It’s really not that friendly,” you snap, and rifle in your bag for your headphones. “And it doesn’t matter what you call it, we just need to be well-behaved and civil during the ball because I will not have you or anyone else ruining Hani’s birthday party.”

“Well, I can’t promise to be well-behaved, but I promise I won’t ruin Hani’s party,” he comforts.

You shake your head. “I guess that’s the best I could really hope for,” you grumble. Unable to locate your headphones, you toss your bag under your seat in frustration.

“What did that poor bag ever do to you?” Jeonghan asks.

“I can’t find my headphones,” you hiss.

“I brought an extra pair.”

You stare at him. “You did not.”

“I truly, truly did,” he says. “Would you like to use them?”

“What will it cost me?”

“Nothing,” he says, grinning. “Let’s call it a mark of our truce.” He pulls them out of his bag and hands them to you, and you accept them, eyeing him suspiciously.

“Do they zap your ears when you put them in?” you ask nervously.

“No,” he says, taking one bud and putting it in his own ear. “Just regular old headphones.”

So you put one of them in, bracing yourself. Nothing happens, but the way Jeonghan is watching you is making you worried. “Forgive me if I’m a little wary after the pen incident.” (You were, of course, referring to a prank Jeonghan had pulled where he had replaced your pen with one that shocked you at random intervals.)

Jeonghan rolls his eyes. “I’m not trying to make your life miserable, princess. Actually, right now, I’m trying to make your life easier.” He leans back against his seat’s headrest and closes his eyes. “It’s not going to kill you to trust me a little.”

You shoot him a dubious look before acquiescing, slipping the other bud into your ear. No shock. You decide he’s probably telling the truth, and you listen to an audiobook while you wait for the plane to take off.

Hours later, after you’ve watched the sunset fade to black outside Jeonghan’s window, and after watching two movies and dozing off during a third, you jolt awake to a sudden dip of the plane. Blinking rapidly, you try to make sense of your surroundings, and the first thing you register is a hand clasping your own.

You look over, mortified, to see Jeonghan staring at you. But instead of the sneer you expected, his expression is serious and kind. “Are you okay?” he asks, squeezing your hand comfortingly.

“I’m fine,” you say, although your voice is shaking and you can’t bring yourself to let go of his hand even though it’s embarrassing.

“You’re scared of flying?” he asks you quietly.

“Not enough to not do it,” you reply. Maybe it’s the look in his eyes that makes you think that you’ve stepped outside the incessant teasing that has been the hallmark of your relationship with this man, but you find yourself saying, “I feel like I should be used to it already.” Immediately you begin to worry about how Jeonghan might use this weakness against you, but he just looks at you.

“Well, if it makes any difference,” he finally says, “you’re handling it pretty well.” He gives your hand a squeeze.

This is just too weird. The weirdest part is, it doesn’t feel weird at all -- not talking with him, not holding his hand, not even the way he looks at you. For a second, you remember how intently Jeonghan had listened to you speak at that dinner all those months ago. This seems much more like the person you thought he was before you’d found out he’d destroyed you in an anonymous online debate. And, terrifyingly, this was a person you could see yourself falling deeply into, with no hope of escape.

The plane lurches again, and you close your eyes and breathe deeply through your nose. A low chuckle from Jeonghan makes you shoot him an annoyed look.

He shrugs. “Sorry,” he says. “I don’t mean to laugh at you, I’m just surprised.”

“Why?” you ask through gritted teeth.

“Because,” he says, as though choosing his words very carefully. “You don’t strike me as the kind of person who’s scared of anything.”

His tone is -- dare you say it? -- respectful, almost awed, full of admiration.

“Well, there’s a lot you don’t know about me,” you remind him, swallowing nervously.

He purses his lips. “Sad, but true.”

“What do you mean?” you ask.

He leans back in his seat again, closing his eyes. “Figure it out, princess,” he whispers, before falling asleep with your hand clenched around his.

******

The night before the ball, you’re on a video chat with your little sister when your dad enters the frame.

“How’s my girl doing?” the king asks, and you have to smile. Your dad is really an amazing leader, and an even better dad.

“I’m good,” you say. “Just three more days before I’m home!”

“We’re so excited to have you back,” your sister chimes in, and your dad nods enthusiastically.

“Can I have a word with your sister?” your dad asks her, and she skips away with a quick “bye!”

“What’s up?” you ask.

“There’s been a little bit of tension on the mainland lately,” your dad confesses. “Nothing too concerning, but we want to nip it in the bud. I think it’s time for you to think about your future.”

You know when he says “future” he means “marriage”, and your heart sinks. As the eldest child, you will inherit the crown once your father retires. His hair and beard are grayer every time you see him, and you’ve known for awhile that he’s feeling a bit exhausted. “I am thinking about it,” you admit. “I’ve been going on dates.”

“Anything promising?” your dad asks hopefully.

You fiddle with your shirt hem, hesitating before you answer. The truth is, only one date you’ve been on since college is memorable at all. You try not to think about Jeonghan’s smirk and the way he’d made you laugh and holding his hand on basically the entire seventeen-hour flight over and most importantly his lips against yours in that dusty custodian’s closet before shaking your head. “Not really,” you confess. “Most politicians are really boring.”

Your dad scoffs. “Tell me about it.” He sighs. “Well, I’m not trying to force you into anything, but maybe the ball can be a good networking event for you. I heard that Prince Chan will be there.”

Prince Chan was internationally famous for being a real-life “Prince Charming” -- the perfect gentleman, always smiling, handsome as a fairytale prince. Your country was off his country’s southern coast, so his home was close to yours. “That might be a good political move.”

“And Prince Seungcheol will be there, and the general’s son, I forget his name...” Your dad trails off, but you know who he means, and you rush to put an end to those thoughts.

“Seungcheol is dating Hani,” you remind your dad quickly. “And Jeonghan -- the general’s son -- is...not an option either.”

“Okay,” your dad says, not catching the unspoken information in your tone. “Well, you’ll have boots on the ground, so just try, okay? And we can talk about it when you get back.”

You finish your talk and hang up, looking up at the vaulted ceiling of your guest bedroom in Hani’s parents’ palace. It was a curse to be the heir to the throne sometimes. The weight of your mantle was often so heavy it felt crushing. Your country was a small one, inhabited by gentle people. Military power, the nuances of war, conquest — none of these things were built into your culture. You weren’t sure what you’d do if things went south.

Sighing, you head to the bathroom to start getting ready for bed. When you emerge from your shower and as you’re brushing your hair, the wind starts to pick up from outside. By the time you get into bed, a storm is raging outside. This, coupled with the thoughts swirling relentlessly around you head, has you thoroughly wound up and incapable of sleeping.

So you wrap yourself in a dressing gown and head up the corridor toward the spiral staircase that leads to the library. One thing that always helps you sleep is a familiar book. You wander between the dim shelves, only lit by a few strategically placed lamps, as the thunder gets louder and louder. Finally, you’re able to locate a copy of Frances Hodgson Burnett’s Secret Garden, which you take from the shelf, cozying up in a large armchair to read by one of the lamps.

A few pages in, you’re nearly startled to death by a voice from behind you. “What are you doing awake?”

You jump out of the chair and whirl around. “Jeonghan!” you whisper-shout. “For the love of all that is holy, you scared me.”

He gives a small smile. “Sorry, princess.” He’s also in his PJs, his shoulder-length hair still wet from a shower, and there are dark circles under his eyes that make him look more gaunt and melancholy than usual — a vampire rather than his standard fairy. It’s especially pronounced in the low lamplight.

“What are you doing here?” you ask.

“Couldn’t sleep,” he says simply.

“Why not?”

“‘Cause you couldn’t sleep. I sensed you coming in here.”

You scoff. “What nonsense,” you say.

“I’m serious. We’re soulmates.” Jeonghan’s grin has turned sly.

“Don’t be difficult,” you snap. “Was there a real reason you wanted to share, or — ?”

But then a bolt of lightning briefly illuminates the library in bright white light. The following clap of thunder is so loud it seems to shake the library. Jeonghan cringes and claps his hands to his ears before eyeing you warily.

You point a finger at him. “You’re scared of thunderstorms?” you guess.

He blushes. “Scared is a strong word.”

He cowers as the lightning flashes again, plugging his ears preemptively to avoid the massive clap of thunder. “You’re totally terrified,” you say when he finally takes his fingers out of his ears. “Well, this is just perfect.”

“That seems like a strong word, too,” he grumbles, coming to sit in the chair next to yours. “Perfect, how?”

“Now I know your weakness, and you know mine,” you explain, turning your attention back to your book. “We’re even.”

You couldn’t be more shocked when Jeonghan snakes a cold hand onto your wrist. When you gape at him, he looks at you with wide, innocent eyes. “I held your hand during the turbulence,” he reminds you. “So this is actually how you get even.”

This is hard to argue with, so you just keep reading with his fingers wrapped around your hand. “Do what you need to do, pretty boy,” you sigh.

His sharp intake of air makes you look up from your book. “What?”

“You need to stop calling me that,” Jeonghan says quietly.

“Or what?” you say, shutting your book with a snap.

“Or I’ll lose my mind,” he says in a strained tone. His jaw is clenched, his cheeks are flushed, and his palm on your wrist has become clammy with sweat. “I thought it would be easier to be close to you, but you insist on making my life harder, don’t you?”

This hits you like a punch in the gut. Glaring, you wrench your hand from Jeonghan’s grasp. “You don’t have to talk to me, Jeonghan. It’s perfectly alright for you to ignore me if it’s that hard for you to stand interacting with me.” Suddenly the library doesn’t feel big enough for you and Jeonghan to occupy the space at the same time -- as if all the air has been sucked out of the room. You jump from the armchair and turn on your heel, your robe blowing out behind you.

But Jeonghan is following you again -- and it’s so reminiscent of that first night that you almost laugh. “I don’t understand how you’re not as tortured as I am,” he calls after you. “That’s part of what makes me so insane.”

“Who says I’m not? You’re absolutely agonizing to be around,” you shoot back over your shoulder.

“No, you don’t understand,” he says, and he catches you by the arm, whirling you around so that you face him. You try to shake free, but his grip is iron-strong. “It’s like you’re barely affected by my presence. You don’t feel this constant draw -- this constant need to --

“To what, Jeonghan?” you ask, taking a step forward. “Finish the sentence. To what?”

Your faces are inches apart, the tension between you so thick you could cut it with a knife, and Jeonghan flexes his jaw and swallows hard before his gaze flicks down to your lips. You’re breathing too hard, your pulse too quick, your face hot. He inches closer -- the tips of your noses nearly touching, and when he whispers, it’s in a husky tone that sends chills down your spine. “It’s impossible for me to understand how you don’t seem to think about what happened between us. For you, it’s like it never happened. For me...I think about it every day.”

He’s so close you can smell the peppermint toothpaste on his breath. So close that if you even slightly moved forward, your lips would meet.

And then lightning strikes again. Jeonghan lets go of your arm, takes a step back, nods to you like he would an acquaintance from class, and leaves you alone in the library, where you lean, trembling, against a bookshelf just as the more distant clap of thunder rings out. You have to place a hand over your chest to soothe the frantic beating of your heart. The rest of the night is sleepless -- you toss and turn, wondering what on earth has just happened between you and Jeonghan.

******

“Is Hani ready?” Seungcheol asks, meeting you halfway up the stairs.

“Almost,” you say, adjusting your pearl necklace so the clasp is in the back. “And she gave me explicit instructions that you are to stay at the bottom of the stairs. She wants that movie moment. And you are going to give it to her, because it’s her birthday.”

Seungcheol follows you back down the stairs. “So, Jeonghan’s been weird today,” he says, a question in his tone.

“He’s always weird,” you say shortly.

“Weirder than usual. You look great, by the way,” he tells you, gesturing at the glittering white dress you’re wearing. It hugs your frame with a corseted top, cascading like sea foam down your hips and ending in a train. Hani had picked it out, saying that it matched your small pearl-encrusted crown the best, but you also suspected that she knew it was your most devastating look.

“Thanks,” you say to Seungcheol. “Wait until you see Hani.”

He’s so down bad he even smiles just at the sound of her name. “I can’t wait.”

“And about Jeonghan,” you continue. “Did he tell you -- anything?”

Seungcheol gives you a stern look. “Should he have? Did anything happen last night?”

“There was a thunderstorm,” you say quickly.

“Ah,” Seungcheol says, his gaze a little too understanding. “Jeonghan is scared of thunderstorms.”

You nod, refusing to answer the question he isn’t asking. Luckily, you’re saved by the arrival of Hani at the top of the stairs, looking absolutely stunning in the prettiest blue dress. Seungcheol’s whole face transforms into a picture of joy. “Wow,” he breathes.

You can see her beaming from here. You decide to let them have their moment by themselves, and instead push through the magnificent double doors into the ballroom. As your eyes scan the crowd, you try to believe that you’re not looking for Jeonghan, but there has been a knot in your chest since last night, and you somehow sense he is the only person who can do anything about it. Before landing on Jeonghan, though, your eyes land on Prince Chan. You remember your dad’s request and plaster on your most winning smile as you approach him.

“Hello, Prince Chan,” you say, curtsying low to him. “Are you enjoying yourself?”

He’s just as handsome as everyone has said, and he’s smiling just as kindly as you’d expect. “It’s a beautiful party,” he says. “The hostess is your best friend, right?”

“She is,” you confirm. “Princess Hani is wonderful. Have you ever met her?”

“Only a handful of times. We were kids,” he explains. “But everyone speaks highly of her.”

You nod. “So, how are things on the mainland?” you ask, changing the subject.

You pass a few pleasant minutes discussing his interests, the state of his country’s affairs, and you. After awhile, a very territorial woman comes to stand between you and Prince Chan, interrupting your conversation. He shoots you an apologetic look over her shoulder, and you wave him off with a small smile and a bow, backing away.

“Already causing problems, I see,” says a familiar voice.

You turn to see him -- Jeonghan, in his decorated military uniform, looking far more handsome and ethereal than he had any right to. You stick up your chin. “Well, it wasn’t my intention,” you say. “He was standing alone.”

“What a kind soul you are,” Jeonghan says drily as Hani makes her grand entrance.

You pause in your bickering to applaud her, beaming and embracing her as she comes to greet you. “Do you feel beautiful?” you ask her.

“Yes, I do,” she tells you. “Thank you for always being here.”

After she walks away to greet her other guests, you turn back to Jeonghan. “So, do you have anything else to say to me? Or do you have more pigeons to sedate and put in my bedroom?”

He grins. “As tempting as that is, I have plenty more to say to you.”

Just then, the music starts, and before Jeonghan can offer you his arm to escort you onto the floor, you are turning to the nearest passing gentleman and asking him to dance. Jeonghan follows suit, escorting a pretty redhead in a yellow dress into the space right beside you. As you begin the steps of the dance, you make polite conversation with your partner, whose name you have already forgotten. Jeonghan seems to be vaguely paying attention to his own partner as she rambles on good-naturedly, but his eyes never leave you. His scorching looks from across the dance column have heat rising in your cheeks and the back of your neck, and a funny swooping feeling in your stomach, almost like you’ve done a massive drop on a roller coaster.

At the end of the dance, you politely bow to your partner and are just about to scurry away when Jeonghan catches your hand. “One dance,” he begs. “Please.”

And his eyes are searing with some barely-concealed passion, his skin unnecessarily flushed and his jaw set in a hard line, and you open your mouth — to refuse him, you remind yourself — but nothing comes out, leaving Jeonghan free to pull you back into the dance floor and into his arms for the waltz.

You have done a simple waltz a thousand times — maybe hundreds of thousands at this point. Your feet are familiar with the steps and the turns. It’s simple enough to do. But waltzing with Jeonghan is like trying to speak a language you’ve never heard before. Pressed against his body, his hand burning into the small of your back through your dress, you find yourself unable to meet his eyes as he leads you through the steps. Something about him holding you like this is reminding you forcefully of that distant janitor’s closet, and this is making it impossible for you to look at him for fear of what it might do to you. So, with your heart pounding in your ears, you fixate on the top button of Jeonghan’s uniform and let him whirl you around, until it feels like everything else has faded away but the music and his arms around you. You can feel the weight of his gaze, but you don’t look up until the very last strains of the song are fading away.

And as you do, Jeonghan’s angelic face breaks into a smile that could make the devil repent. He’s so unbearably beautiful that you actually feel your breath hiss out of you, stolen by his smile. You realize that it doesn’t matter how much you pranked him or ignored him or rejected him or lied to yourself — there was absolutely nothing that could have kept you from falling in love with him.

Just at this moment of revelation, someone taps Jeonghan’s shoulder. “Sorry to interrupt,” Prince Chan says.

“It’s no trouble,” Jeonghan says. He’s still partially holding you in his arms, and you are still struggling to remember how to breathe, but Prince Chan seems not to notice or care.

“Would you mind if I had the next dance?” he asks, looking between the two of you.

You find it impossible to speak, so you just nod in assent. Jeonghan gives your hand to Chan, looking mildly crestfallen, and you try to get your crap together before the music starts.

You successfully collect yourself enough to look Prince Chan in the face. He’s smiling at you, but his eyes are a little too understanding. “Jeonghan’s great, huh?” he asks.

You try to laugh, but it comes out choked and awkward. “He’s a bit too charming for his own good,” is all you’re willing to admit.

Chan nods in agreement. “He’s interesting. Most people like to show their very best selves to others, and you find out the bad stuff the more you get to know them. But Jeonghan kind of does the opposite.”

“What do you mean?”

“Well, he’ll be crafty and cunning up front, but he’s actually very kind. And you only get to see that if you get close to him.”

“How do you know?” you ask.

Chan glances over at Jeonghan. “I actually stayed with his family for a month while my mother was sick,” he explains. “Jeonghan had gone through something similar, and he was a big help to me. Of course he still drove me crazy sometimes,” he adds with a laugh, “but he’s solid gold all the way through. You just have to crack him open a bit to see it.”

You’re silent, chewing on this information, when all of a sudden, someone tosses the contents of their wine glass at you, coating your gown in a deep red stain. You gasp and look over to see Jeonghan with his current dance partner -- who is holding her empty wine glass and grinning wickedly at you. You recognize her as the one who interrupted your earlier conversation with Chan. “Oops,” she says.

Your eyes bounce between Jeonghan and the girl. “I need to go change,” you say to Chan. “Please excuse me.”

Chan’s glaring at the girl, and he nods to acknowledge he heard you. You immediately turn away from Jeonghan’s wide-eyed stare, hugging your arms to your chest and heading straight for Hani and Seungcheol. “Some psycho threw her wine on me,” you whisper to her. “I’m sorry, I have to go.”

“Do you want me to come with you?” she asks with concern.

You muster a weak smile. “No, you stay and enjoy your party.”

“I’m going to go escort the psycho out of here,” Seungcheol says, his eyes focused behind you on where you’ve left Chan and the girl and Jeonghan. You look over your shoulder to see Jeonghan leaning in close to the girl and whispering something in her ear, and this is the final straw. A part of you wonders if he planned it himself -- even after you asked him not to ruin things. So you turn on your heel and flee from the ballroom, running up the stairs and heading toward the library.

The tears start the minute you cross the threshold. You hate crying, and hate being a cliche damsel in distress, but the lack of sleep, the confusion about your own feelings, and the blatant bullying you’ve experienced have overwhelmed you, and it’s hard to stop yourself from collapsing into full-blown sobs. You only have a few seconds to cry by yourself between the bookshelves, however, before you hear someone’s footsteps sprinting into the library.

“Princess?”

Oh, no.

You try not to make any noise so that he won’t find you, but Jeonghan still rounds the corner and finds you. You immediately turn your back to him, wiping your eyes as you face the bookshelf. You can hear him approaching you slowly. “Princess?” he repeats.

You slowly turn over your shoulder to face him, looking him in the eye. You know you probably look ridiculous, but you still have to ask. “Was that your idea of a prank?” you say in a hard voice.

“Not at all,” he replies, his voice equally sharp. “Seungcheol and I threw her out ourselves.”

“You did?” you squeak.

He gives you a sad smile. “Of course. She’s never going to be within fifty miles of you ever again if I can help it.”

You nod, looking at your feet. “Well, that’s good. Thank you.”

“My pleasure.” Jeonghan hesitates, then takes another step forward. “I need to talk to you,” he says.

You avoid his gaze and back up a little, right into the bookshelf. “I don’t see what we have left to talk about,” you hedge.

“Are we back to the bickering?” he asks, sounding frustrated. He steps forward again, nearly toe-to-toe with you, and brings a hand up to your chin, tugging on it gently. “Need you to look at me, princess.”

You lift your eyes to him and are once again overwhelmed by his closeness. You can’t help the deep breath you take at the sight of him. “Why do you keep pretending you hate me?” Jeonghan asks you quietly.

“What do you mean?” you reply.

“I know you don’t really hate me,” he explains. “I’ve known it for months. But I just don’t know why you can’t admit it to yourself. I wish you’d just let it go.” When you don’t reply, he sighs. “I’ve never met anyone as stubborn as you. You truly have no equal.”

Your emotions are so overwhelming and close to the surface that this light barb stings a lot more than Jeonghan probably intended. And this sends you over the edge. You bat his hand away and whisper-yell, “Well, you’re selfish, and conceited, and self-important, and conniving, and I don’t know why I --”

But you stop yourself before you give yourself away. Jeonghan impulsively brings his hands to both sides of your face, trapping you in. “Finish the sentence,” he demands. “You don’t know why you...what?”

But the answer won’t come, stuck between your heart and your voicebox, your stubborn mind trying fruitlessly to bar Jeonghan from knowing the truth. But, as is always the case in all the love stories you’ve ever read, the heart is too strong for the mind, and for a moment, it overcomes all rational thought and takes control over your hands. You grab Jeonghan by the collar and pull his lips to yours.

No amount of shock could keep Jeonghan from responding to your kiss. Ever quick on his feet, he brings a hand to the back of your neck so that he can move you in just the way he wants to, and you, for the first time in forever, let go of your need to sort through all your feelings and make them make sense, and give in to your heart entirely. You don't have to think with Jeonghan -- he takes charge in a way that makes your knees feel weak, and you cling to him desperately to avoid toppling over. Jeonghan kisses with even more passion than he had in that closet, with enough fire that you think you both might combust. His lips are searing and insistent, and you melt into his arms. Instinctively, you tangle your fingers in his hair, and he gives a throaty chuckle. “Careful, princess,” he whispers between kisses, and you hum against his lips in bliss.

Eventually, his kisses turn soft and sweet, slowing down to a pace where you can both catch your breath. And then he pulls away. The sight of him with his hair ruffled from your hands and his cheeks flushed and his eyes bright makes you giggle, and he beams at you, his gaze flicking to your lips again. “Wait,” you say before he can kiss you again. “I like you.”

“Duh,” he says with a laugh in his voice.

You swat his arm. “I mean it. I don’t understand how, or why, but I haven’t been able to stop thinking about the night we met. And compared to you, everyone seems so...dull.” He’s smirking now, and you swat at him again. “Stop it! I’m trying to be sincere.”

“I can’t help it,” he complains, and he’s looking at you so fondly that it’s dangerous. “You’re so cute. And I love to listen to you speak, but when you speak you move your mouth, and suddenly that’s just become so incredibly distracting for me.”

“My lips are distracting?” you repeat, wrinkling your nose in disgust at how corny it is.

“Well, they always were,” Jeonghan admits. “But right now...” He leans in, gives you a peck, and then runs a hand through his disheveled hair and groans. “Oh, it’s nearly too much.”

You giggle again. “You’re truly obsessed with me, aren’t you?”

“Embarrassingly so,” he says proudly. “Why else do you think I bribed the person who would’ve sat next to you on the plane to take my seat on Seungcheol and Hani’s flight?”

“You switched flights to travel with me?” Yesterday, this would’ve been annoying to learn -- but now, it’s a little endearing.

He nods. “And I switched classes so that I could take them with you. I’m still going to do that until we graduate, mind you, so if you could please avoid the eight o’clock classes, I would appreciate that so much.”

You tsk in fond exasperation at him. “And all of this time, you didn’t think to tell me that you’re --”

“Head over heels for you? Well, I sort of felt like it probably wouldn’t have gone over well. So I bided my time. And it was worth the wait,” he says, clasping one of your hands to his chest. “There’s absolutely no one like you, princess. You’re the best person I’ve ever met.”

You shake your head, although on the inside you feel like angels are singing. “What an end to our war,” you say, snaking your arms around Jeonghan’s shoulders.

“War is such a strong word,” Jeonghan complains. “It was barely a scuffle.”

“You filled my room with pigeons.”

“And that was low-hanging fruit for me.”

“You’re shameless.”

“Entirely,” he agrees. “Which is why I have no plans to return to that ball anytime soon.” He gives you a mischievous smile and once again looks at your lips.

“I can’t miss my best friend’s entire birthday party,” you remind him, playing with a lock of his hair shyly.

“Hmm,” he says thoughtfully. “That is a predicament. Might I suggest a compromise?”

“Indubitably,” you say, playing along with his posh tone.

He scoffs. “We go back in an hour. We stay to watch her open her gifts. And then we meet back here.”

“To do what?” you ask him, giving him your own dangerous grin.

“What an excellent question, princess,” he says, leaning in and kissing you deeply and slowly before pulling away just slightly and brushing a stray hair from your face. “I guess we’ll have to play it by ear,” he finally tells you in a low voice. “How does that sound?”

“It sounds perfect,” you sigh, and then you smirk at him. “Pretty boy,” you add as an afterthought.

His eyes darken. “I’m going to make you regret that,” he threatens. And as he kisses you into oblivion once again, you seriously doubt it.

The Selfish Dilemma || Jeonghan - Part 2

It's been a week since you started working from home.

Walking out of Jeonghan's cabin had lead you to knocking on your manager's. Mr. Choi, the old man was so worried on seeing your bloodshot eyes and deemed demeanor that as soon as you requested for a week's work from home, he approved it immediately, no questions asked.

It's boring, you'd admit but it's also helpful when you don't have to see Jeonghan's face everyday and sliding over the reject button doesn't really need any effort whenever he calls. His messages are stacking up in your inbox, unread.

Your heart is still hurting, mind is still clouded with the thoughts of that one man whom you love. However, staying at home, away from that ambience, gave you a lot of time to think.

And for the sake of your own peace, you're justifying him. Truth said, you were never lead on Jeonghan. Just brief eye contacts only when talking work. The guy known for having manner hands obviously had no touchy business with anyone except for the times when your clumsy legs slipped, he was somehow there to hold you, everytime. That's it.

Your mind is slowly taking over with rationality and the progress is good enough for you to pretend that you're unbothered when you go back to office next Monday.

Key word: Pretend. And maybe because you're a master in it, thanks to that, you aren't miserable.

Jeonghan is miserable. Because the moment he realises he's with love with you is the moment you're walking out.

He doesn't see you at office for a whole week. You always reject his calls, never respond back to the enormous amount of text he has been sending.

He looks so grief-stricken and he is. Aloofness is something in his nature that he can't do anything about. Always being used to scare people away with one sharp look, he was flabbergasted at your boldness and determination to win him over, which honestly had pissed him at first.

But as the days passed, the itchiness on hearing your voice faded, the furrow in his brows stopped appearing and his heart vacuumed out in his chest whenever he sensed your presence.

He ignored it, all of it because he was sure office romances, well any of sort romantics wasn't for him, proof his last relationship, which had undoubtedly left him scarred and cautious. He has moved on long back and getting adjusted to loneliness shouldn't be a big deal when it always returns to him.

He has been afraid because as you said no one would take his shit, people would leave him one day and he'd just be a spectator at the sidelines holding himself, only having him as his own to pick up the scattered pieces.

When you had joined first, in official terms you were Yoora's replacement. When you started courting him, Jeonghan's mind squared back, afraid of history repeating itself. But he soon realised he was wrong, you weren't Yoora's replacement, you were you and so much more that. You were filling in the cracks formed on his heart with patience, persistency and love. So to save himself from dipping deeper, to save another heartbreak he rooted to his indifference agenda towards you. He chose to ignore his own feelings, chose not to seek answers until it to came down to this.

Turns out by turning you down he wasn't avoiding the inevitable, his heart did break afterall. He wonders how did you handle so many rejections when his gut is withering just from lack of your attention.

Mondays are always blue, but for you it's bluer. Because you know Jeonghan's gonna not let you have it your way.

Till now it's all good, you haven't seen Jeonghan yet. He has already been cooped up in his cabin when you arrived at your desk, he hasn't yet come out of that room once and it's lunchtime.

Chaein doesn't allow anyone else to sit beside you, that's her seat as she claims, "Gosh, I've missed you so much Y/N. It's so difficult to deal with these dumbos without you."

Joshua and Soonyoung gasp in unison.

Seokmin just smiles, he's happy to have you back. But that smile doesn't reach his eyes and you notice that he's unusually quiet. Taking a mental note you corner him later you resume eating. Amidst the chatting and teasing, your eyes stray away searching for that one person.

"He doesn't come here for lunch since last week.", Seokmin says dryly, eyes on the plate, hand which is holding the fork stabbing that poor broccoli. There's no hiding away, you know that Seokmin can read you like an open book.

It's evening and you're mentally preparing yourself because you've to get your design document of a product to be reviewed by Jeonghan. Taking a deep breath you knock on the cabin door. A faint 'come in' reaches your ears and you're suddenly panicking. However, another deep breathe calms you a bit.

Upon entering, the first thing you notice is obviously Jeonghan but what concerns you is his unkempt apperance. The man who falls under the dapper category looked so lost, so deemed. You wonder how could a week do so many changes to a man. Large bags under his eyes, hairs dishevelled, potential weight loss and the list continues.

Jeonghan had been walking on eggshells, even when not around you. He arrived early to office on purpose, avoided crossing the threshold of his cabin and had his curtain blinds rolled over just to not cause you any inconveniences.

He does this because he's scared. What if you see his face and decide to extend your work from home or press on the transfer application. What if he gets to see you lesser and lesser until to the point he doesn't see you at all.

Yes, he's a overthinker.

But he's often taking a peak at you from the gaps of those blinds. You, sitting at your desk, pivoting your full concentration at whatever is there on the screen has Jeonghan admitting that this is the most gratifying sight for him, recently.

"H-How are you?", he avoids eye contact and asks so quietly that you that almost miss it.

The concern for him within you never receded so before you could comprehend the question slips out from your mouth, "Did you have lunch yet?"

Jeonghan's gaze whips at you in shock. Shocked because inspite of everything you're still looking out for him, he's also relieved because of same.

"I'll grab something later--"

"It's almost evening Jeonghan, you shouldn't be needing anyone to fill you about your health and eating habits.", you say sternly, "Anyways it's upto you. I just came to get the document reviewed."

You take the seat opposite to him and just as you were about to speak, he beats you.

"Will you go out with me?"

You are choking on air, eyes round as saucers, almost jabbing your ears in case you're hearing everything wrong.

Jeonghan thinks his heart could burst in chest any moment, it wasn't the plan to ask you so abruptly, then again when has Jeonghan did the right thing at the right time.

"Yes.", you say nonchalantly, out of anger, out of spite and out of hurt. You're in disbelief of his audacity to mock your feelings again, that he's the same selfish prick you've known.

Jeonghan thinks this time he's hearing you wrong, so he gapes at you.

"I can go out of this cabin with or without you.", you continue, lips curled up in mockery, "For all other places, it's a no."

Jeonghan slumps back a little, what did he expect.

He nods and you resume to brief him on the design model. Once done, you're walking out. As your hands hover over the handle of the door, he calls your name.

"Do you hate me?", you hear him ask.

You don't turn back when you say, "Yes.", and walk out.

Jeonghan wonders if the first one hurts like hell, how will he handles the others and he hasn't even started.

The Selfish Dilemma || Jeonghan - Part 2

The whole office is murmuring. But what all can be prominently heard are gasps and breath hitches.

The reason, Yoon Jeonghan. The man who's always wearing staple colours and long coats is donning a scarlet satin shirt paired with a high waist tailored pant today.

A chic office attire to suffice it subtly. And people are finding it impossible to take eyes off him.

"Woah, what's the occasion?", Jihoon asks Soonyoung, the two standing by the entrance on hearing the mild commotion.

Soonyoung scoffs, "Isn't it pretty obvious? Y/N's the occasion.", he is utterly pissed because all he could think about is his dear friend Seokmin and the zero progress made on his end.

You have just settled on your chair, almost exhausted even before the day started because of the scorching heat draining your the energy.

Taking your phone out, you are putting your work playlist on when you sense something vibrant from the periphery of your vision.

Head up, your eyes go wide, mouth agape on seeing Jeonghan walking through the door. Your favourite colour on him makes no sense at all when you could think that it has been all wrong, no one had ever did the minimum justice to that colour.

Jeonghan's gaze perks up at you, lips curled up in a triumphant smile. He watches as you legit choke on air, eyes locked on him. He saunters to your desk and says, "I've never worn something like this to office before, does it look okay?"

Your mind squares to zero as it produces absolutely nothing. Blinking owlishly at him, you somehow manage to give him a nod. When Jeonghan enters his cabin you slump on the chair, pinching the bridge of your nose because you're sure that you're gonna get a nosebleed today.

And then the torment starts. You are getting called by Jeonghan frequently and everytime he demands your attention you're finding it difficult to maintain an eye contact with him.

"So which model are we going to approach, Y/N?", Jeonghan knowingly puts you to test.

"We are going with A.", you say uncertainly as you look up at him.

Jeonghan bites back the smile, "I thought we decided to go with B?"

Your eyes widen and you're mumbling an apology, "Sorry, yes. I'll setup a meet with my team and come up with possible queries pertaining to it."

Jeonghan nods and you take it as a que to leave.

"Will you go out with me?", your hear him ask.

"No.", you're amazed how it naturally slips out of your mouth and wonder if someday you'd actually mean it for real, not out of hurt or spite.

"Do you hate me?"

You sigh and look away before muttering a 'yes'.

You are aware very well that Jeonghan's attire for the day is of your likes. While you wonder how he knows about your favourite colour, Jeonghan reminiscence why whenever he sees anything in the shades of red, you cross his mind.

"Oh my god! Taylor is re-recording my favourite album of hers.", you squeal out scrolling through your tumblr feeds and look at Jeonghan, "Red will always be superior because those tracks build me in a way and it's my favourite colour as well."

You fill in Jeonghan at the lunch knowing he won't lend an ear to your words. But you've developed this habit and you like to do it anyways.

Jeonghan misses your monologues so he avoids going to canteen for lunch because it hits him how lonely he'll always be and the image of the empty seat in front confirms it. He never responded, never heard but he always listened.

Also, that wasn't the only evidence, the colour of your car, to the frame of the family photo on your desk to your earpods, to the souvenirs you've bought or showed him, to the nail paints you'd put on, they're all something in the shades of red.

It did leave Jeonghan amused as well when he realized he remembers all of this. Like his heart, his brain too by hearts anything and everything related to you and he doesn't need to be genius anymore to know the reason.

He watches you leave but a small smile sets on his lips because today he realised he still has that effect on you so he wishes he can make the thwarting from your end to cease soon.

You wanna make him wear his heart on sleeves and he's willing do it just for you.

The Selfish Dilemma || Jeonghan - Part 2

Seokmin is done for the day and he plans to drop by the grocery store since he's running out of stock. Just as he enters the parking lot, he finds you leant against his car door.

You wave hands at him and he gives you a small smile.

"I thought you left.", he comments casually, hands searching inside the bag for the car keys.

"I was waiting for you, we need to talk.", you sound so serious that Seokmin halts his actions and looks at you alarmingly.

And his eyes urges you to speak further.

"Not here definitely.", your eyes scan around as you speak, "Do you have other plans tonight?"

Seokmin nods, "I have a friend to meet.", he lies and then proceeds to tell his actual plan, "also have to do some grocery shopping."

You nod dejected, "Okay, then. Let me know when you're ready to talk, I feel there's a shift in our dynamics and I'm afraid that I might have done something wrong unintentionally."

You don't wait for this response as you walk out of the lane leaving Seokmin frozen. He didn't think you'd have time from thinking over Jeonghan to focus on something that's related to him. He never thought you'd notice.

Now, he feels sorry when he sees your slouched demeanor, how did he end up adding more to your plate when you're already brimming.

So he decides to do both of you a favour.

Next day at lunch, you are eating quietly with Chaein gushing in about the hot and also smart guy she went on a date with when someone unpleasant suddenly crosses your mind.

"Where's Seonji? I haven't seen her since I started working from office again."

Joshua's bambi eyes widened more when he realises he had missed to spill this tea to you, "About that...", he takes the weightage when your undivided attention pivots on him, "Remember that day at the cafeteria when she intended to claim that she would be dating Jeonghan? So after you left, Jeonghan warned her about reporting to HR and when she failed some submissions by EOD, he immediately reported to her manager and had her removed from the team."

"Not gonna lie, he's damn scary. Remember how he berated me that day, what a meanie, I could still cry thinking about it.", Chaein claims and shrugs as she throws you a knowing look, "I've heard that he has had over three women reported to the HR department because they over stepped the boundaries they should never as a colleague."

"Since he's behaving out of character for the past days, I realised that apart from the indifference, I've never seen him being a scrooge to you actually.", Joshua almost talks over Chaein, "Rather he always seems to casual, if I might add, comfortable whenever around you. I don't know how it was at the beginning, this is what it has been since I've joined."

"That's what. Jeonghan is scary to everyone. And since he started pulling whatever shit nowadays, he is only doing it for Y/N and he has done it for no one else ever.", Chaein claims.

You gape at the two faces mutely before asking, "Is Jeonghan paying you both for saying this?"

Chaein rolls her eyes. Joshua snorts.

You turned to your last resort, the man whose sole focus is whatever on his plate, calmly eating which makes you doubt if he is even aware of any the conversation that's taking place around him.

"Jihoon", you try to gain his attention and when the said man looks at you with the most neutral expression, you know it's useless but still you tell him anyways, "These two", you point at Joshua and Chaein, "are potentially fraternising with my enemy. But I can trust you right?"

"We're not Y/N.", Chaein chimes in, "and after witnessing everything, we'd never support Jeonghan. It's just... we spoke out our minds."

Jihoon stares at Chaein, at Joshua and then at you, mutely, making the three of you anxious.

"Honestly I'm not at all amused at Jeonghan.", he says and before anyone of you could intercept he continues, "Because you were the one I was amused at, it was beyond my comprehension how persistent you were when he didn't even bat an eyelash at you. If you could show persistence, I believe Jeonghan could also show.... what I'm guessing is redemption. We all have different mechanism. We all work differently."

You gulp nervously at his words but an assuring pat from Jihoon washes the weariness away.

"But at the end of the day, it's you and your validations. If you think he's gimmicking slap him accross. If you think he's sincere, give him a chance at explaining. If you think he had made you suffer enough, either don't waste another ink of thought on him or return all those sufferings to him before allowing him to do anything else.", he wiping the corners of his lips with the tissue and getting up, "That's what. At the end, it should be you. How you treat Jeonghan should come from within you, not me, not anyone else, no third party opinion should matter unless you want to adhere onto some."

And when Jihoon walks out leaving you speechless, Chaein squeals, "And what if I develop a crush on Jihoon because of the damn clear headed man he is?"

"Then you'll have me as your competition.", Joshua quips back instantly and though you don't react, you relate to both of them. His words ring in your head and suddenly you're feeling dizzy.

When you return to your desk, as always a red rose awaits you in the vase and as always you never have the heart to throw it away, so it stays because you know Jeonghan's gonna replace it the next day.

He is always waiting for you at the entrance nowadays and even all you do is wryly greet him out of courtesy he follows you like a puppy.

"Good morning Y/N. Did you sleep well yesterday? There's going to be fest, do you wanna go, I can try to get the tickets even though there's a huge demand...."

While the security gives you both a meaningful look, now that the roles have reversed. He glares at them and proceeds with his attempts of small talks even without getting a response as if he's talking to himself until you halt at your desk and he halts on his words followed by a 'have a nice day' before entering his cabin.

It's intriguing how a man could self sabotage his dear vehicle often because most of the days he says his car is given for servicing or the tyres are punctured, flat out so he could ride home with you, albeit to spend some extra time with you in solace.

"Why is there no traffic today?", Jeonghan says dejected and doesn't realise he has let out his thoughts a little too loud.

"What?", you turn to side, just to glare at him when you see the man sitting beside you practically freeze.

"I-I mean, there's a lot of traffic generally but it's a lot less today... It's a g-good thing..."

"Do you want me as your designated driver now because at this rate I'm driving you home almost everyday.", the words come out of your mouth harsher than intended, "You don't have anyone else to put you through right?"

Jeonghan has his eyes wide in horror and he blurts out a no, "Please that's not my intention. I-I'm sorry for making you feel this way. I-I'll stop. You can pull over. I'll get off and take a taxi from here."

You don't do so and also feel bad when he goes mute throughout the rest of the ride.

You find it funny how Jeonghan is never subtle about his business with you. People who see you two would believe that he's courting you and if you didn't know him better you'd think that he's in love with you.

But that's what, you do know him so you know his motive could be anything but love.

The Selfish Dilemma || Jeonghan - Part 2

Jeonghan's mind is filled with all the things he had been trying to get your attention and how he failed in all of them.

He is frustrated throughout as the days pass by and that seeps into him deeper today so much that he's sobbing when he punches the passcode of his house.

He's worried about the sincerity which either he's not able to express or you're not being able to see, rightfully. He has thought of confessing his feelings several times but he knows by doing that now, he'd gonna loose you faster, you're never gonna believe him because you don't trust him anymore.

He walks in, sets his bag and gets the scare of his life when the lights turn on and he hears someone.

"I thought I'd never get to see you. Do you always work this late? I got bored waiting, so made myself something barely edible because you're fridge needs restock--"

When their gaze meet, Jeonghan's teary eyes cuts off the one speaking.

"Cheol...", Jeonghan sounds so defeated as he stays rooted to the place, gaze dropped, calling out his best friend's name. Seungcheol nearly freezes, but next he's running to Jeonghan, pulling him into a hug.

"Hey, it's okay.", Seungcheol gently caresses his back, keeping his own shock at bay because it's rare to see his friend crying. In the span of seventeen years of their friendship, he has seen Jeonghan cry only once and now it's the second time he's witnessing it.

After he calms down, Seungcheol asks, "Do you wanna talk about it?". Jeonghan just nods but doesn't say anything so Seungcheol waits.

"I'm in love, Cheol...", and this is how Jeonghan starts and vents out anything and everything he thinks he need to let his best friend know.

All Seungcheol does is give him a smile and that sets Jeonghan really off.

"Seriously? You're smiling?"

Phone calls or facetimings aren't the things that work with Jeonghan, particularly. So it's always Seungcheol who's calling him to get updates from him, very well knowing that he is only termed 'close' friend Jeonghan has and even though he never admits but Jeonghan always looks forward to get his calls.

"Thought you were dead. Didn't take you the kind to control your urge of disturbing my peace for a whole month."

Seungcheol could hear the gruffness from the other side and he answers with a laugh, "It wouldn't actually kill you to admit that you were so worried that you dropped me a text and you actually missed me."

"Whatever floats your boat."

Seungcheol knows about you, ofcourse through Jeonghan's words as an annoying colleague who kept asking him out. And so does Seungcheol know that you maybe not be actually annoying, that you must be someone special to Jeonghan for him to mention you in almost every call he had with his keeper, his best friend.

"Are you sure, you hate this Y/N? Because you never fail to mention her... It's just you don't bring up anyone this often."

"Uh puh-lease, I'm allowed to rant about something that irks me and you've no choice but to listen."

Often termed as tsundere and ignored by people partly because of the aloof aura he emitted, it was the same factor for which Seungcheol found Jeonghan intriguing and as adament he was on being friends with him, he actually achieved it.

So whenever he heard about you, he always got reminded of himself.

"You should have called me, Han--"

"But you were out of country for the conference, I didn't wanna bother you--"

"Nonsense.", Seungcheol scoffs, "So it took her to walk out on you, for you to realise that you're in love with her. That's so typical of you."

Jeonghan sighs and his lips sets out in a pout as he rants further, "I'm such an idiot. That day she was having a headache so I made her a cup of black coffee but...", his eyes are set on his fingers those are drawing random pattern on the fabric of the pants he's wearing, "I could see that she was looking forward to having it. And after she took the first sip, her face literally fell."

Jeonghan gets teary again on reminiscing the memory again,"I had put two spoons of sugar because I thought it turned a lot bitter but that's how she'd would have liked it.", then he looks at Seungcheol, "I know how dampening a wrong coffee could get you but she didn't scold me whereas if it would have been me, I'd given shit to anyone who would have gotten my coffee wrong. She always knew my preferences and likes but me...", he exhales sharply, "I know nothing compared to that. I can't even get her coffee right. I really don't deserve her."

Seungcheol's heart pains seeing his best friend in this plight. He hopes you're just going through a phase because he knows apart from him, you're the only one who actually didn't cower away from Jeonghan because of his cold exterior.

"Did you confess to her?", Seungcheol asks.

Jeonghan shakes his head, "I want to but... She won't believe me and I-I think she hates me enough, I don't wanna add to it."

"Are you serious right now?", Seungcheol chuckles in disbelief, "Imagine yourself being in her shoes once. You confess to someone everyday, only to get rejected every single time and suddenly when you decide to stop pursuing him, he's doing questionable things for you which is all new to you and what would it feel like--", he walks up to where Jeonghan is seated and crouches, "It would be confusing, it would hurt you because all you could think about is why he would be doing all this, what can his motive be."

Jeonghan's eyes widen as the realisation gnaws on him. He stiffens for some moments. His gaze drops as he speaks, "And she'd never think that it all might be out of longing and love because all I've given her is 'I hate yous' but never a single 'I love you'."

"So she needs to know that, Han. You need to confess, and we both know believing is hard on her part. So that's on you, to pursue her, to make her believe that your feelings are sincere because for the past years she has been doing it everyday, without a fail.", Seungcheol pats on his arms, "Bare yourself out infront of her, keep trying but stop when you think it's time."

Jeonghan's eyes are twinkling with new found hope now, all thanks to his best friend.

"How long are you planning to stay here?", Jeonghan asks, "You're out by tomorrow right?"

Seungcheol tsks, "This is what I get for being the best friend. How disappointing."

"I'm hungry, make me something.", Jeonghan is back to his unbothered self as if a switch is flipped, "And also, don't you dare to sneak into my bed later, I'll kick you out."

Seungcheol feigns hurt and gives him the biggest puppy eyes, "You know I need to hug someone when I sleep--"

"I have given you extra pillows for some reason--"

"But they're not as cuddly as you, Han.--"

"Get yourself a partner, gosh. And spare me."

"About that, I went on a date the day before yesterday and--"

"I'm not interested Cheol. I'm hungry. Give me food."

"It's your birthday next week and you won't be getting any gift from me for being shitty."

The banter ends at midnight with Seungcheol sneaking into the bed when Jeonghan is awake but good news, he doesn't gets kicked out of the bed.

The Selfish Dilemma || Jeonghan - Part 2

Seokmin is finally ready to have a heart to heart time with you.

When he proactively texted you this instance, you immediately invited him to your house to talk over dinner in hopes to mend any mistakes you made, in hopes to reunite with your same old dearest Seokmin.

But you notice him being oddly quiet today as he has been for the past few days. The Seokmin who always talks animatedly is not uttering a word unless it's a reply to a question coming from you.

You hand him the ice cream bowl while he's seated on your couch and you take the seat on the opposite end.

"So are we going to address the elephant in the room?", your gaze is fixed on your bowl when you speak.

Seokmin's head whips in your direction and he thinks it's now or never. He had headed out to your place with only one motive, that is to get the weight off his chest, that is to confess.

"Did I do something to hurt you?", you ask in a small voice, "I know I can be really thick headed and I'm really sorry if I have hurt you, just know whatever it was, it was unintentional."

Seokmin's heart constricts looking at your sincere eyes, hearing you spill apologies without being at fault, knowing that you truly treasure him.

He closes his eyes and takes a deep breathe before opening them only to meet your uncertain gaze.

"I have something to say to you", when he says this, he could feel his heart now thumping vigorously within his chest, beads of sweat forming on his forehead even in the air conditioned room.

You get up and shift to sit beside him. Seokmin thinks the whisk of your scent is overwhelming and the proximity is making his stomach churn.

"Seokmin--"

"I love you, Y/N. I've loved you for long now."

You freeze. Seokmin halts. The hands of the clock moves but time doesn't pass by.

"I'm sorry...", that's the first thing you blurt out and Seokmin smiles.

"It's not you fault Y/N. You've been so in love with Jeonghan that everyone around you faded into the background because all you could focus on was him.", Seokmin bites his tongues to stop those tears pooling in his eyes from falling, "Maybe because you love so openly and I'm exactly the opposite, you could never relate to me."

"That's not it, Seokmin.", your hands itch to hold his but you don't know if you could do that anymore because you think you've hurt him enough, "You're a good guy Min, too good to be true. But how could I have known that whenever you comforted me, you also needed to be comforted. You didn't have to be so cruel on yourself, when I couldn't pick myself up, you shouldn't have been the one to always pick me up, you should have let others do that."

Seokmin lets out a sob and he's choking out the words, "Y-You know it's impossible when you're in love. You should be knowing this when you're... you're going through this as well. And I'm sorry for bringing this up at a time like this but trust me--"

His words halt again when you embrace him tight and place his head on your shoulders, one hand stroking his hair, another caressing his back, "You brought this up because it was constricting your breathes. You brought this up when you were at the edge, when you couldn't hold it in anymore. Thanks for putting yourself before me, this one time. You shouldn't be apologizing when you did nothing wrong."

Your voice cracks when you say, "I can't reciprocate your feelings Min because I'm trying to get over someone I love. I don't want to give you false hope. You don't deserve to be someone's replacement or rebound. All you deserve is the best."

Seokmin's sobs doesn't tend to cease and he is fisting the fabric of your shirt, "Why did you have to be so understanding? Why didn't you just shout at me or kick me out of your house? How do I move on Y/N? How do I get rid of this habit of loving you?"

This time you're choking a sob, "If I knew the answers to the question, trust me my life would have been a lot easier. I'm a sufferer too, Min."

You pull away and wipe his tears with gentle hands and he does the same to you. Now that he is looking at you, you wonder how you missed the love he's radiating for you all this time. You wonder what if it was Seokmin instead of Jeonghan whom you loved.

But all those what's and if's wouldn't mean anything now. Your heart is breaking because out of all things, you never thought you would be the one to massively hurt Seokmin.

Seokmin knew that this would be the outcome. But what pierces his heart into pieces is the way you're blaming yourself, even though it's no one's fault.

Feelings can't be controlled. The heart wants what it wants.

A tap on his arm pivots his attention back to the present. His eyes dart on you as he waits for you.

"Listen to me carefully, this is for you. What do you want me to do for you now?"

Seokmin shots you a confusing look.

"I mean, I'd understand if you don't want to see me for the time being, I'll try not to show up in front of you during the the office hours. If you wanna cut contact, do it, go ahead and block me. Do whatever you feel like doing but promise me you'd come back, I'm sorry if I'm being selfish here, I treasure you too much to loose you."

Seokmin looks dead in your eyes that actually scares you for a moment.

"Don't be ridiculous.", He scolds you, "And don't even thinking of pulling any of those stunts you just mentioned. I'll be okay. We'll be okay."

You heave in relief and Seokmin smiles.

Though you are reluctant to let Seokmin drive back home given the condition, he persists he'll be fine. So you feed him some more ice cream, engage him in small talks and hug him one more time before he's out of the threshold of your house.

When Seokmin walks to where his car is parked he's shocked to see Wonwoo and Soonyoung waiting for him.

"What are you both doing here?", he asks.

"Y/N had texted us.", Wonwoo says as he fished out his car keys, "I'll drive you home."

"And I'll drive your car to your home.", Soonyoung holds his hand flat asking for the car keys, "Then Wonwoo will drop me off, in case you're still curious."

Seokmin is stunned but nonetheless hands him the keys. He now gets why were you so stubborn on feeding him icecream and even engaging in small random talks, it was all to buy some time.

"We can stay if you want us to.", Wonwoo offers and Soonyoung nods. And Seokmin feels his heart is swelling too tight within his chest.

He looks at both of them, thinks of you and smiles in gratitude.

The Selfish Dilemma || Jeonghan - Part 2

Jeonghan knocks on your desk as soon as he passes by meaning he wants you in and enters his cabin.

You are already emotionally and mentally drained for not getting proper sleep since Seokmin's confession episode happened. Today is particularly exhausting for some reason and you even considered taking the day off but that important client meeting had your feet dragged to the office premise.

"Y/N, I need to tell you something.", Jeonghan says when you enter and gestures you to take a seat.

"Look, I'm really exhausted. If it's something related to work then go ahead otherwise let's keep it shelved for now.", you say sharply.

Jeonghan doesn't let your words sting much and continues, "Are you okay? If you want some rest, you can use my restroom."

You chuckle, "It's really tempting when I have this killing headache but no, I don't want people to get the wrong idea. They're already having ridiculous speculations. Thanks for offering though."

"What speculations?", Jeonghan asks genuinely confused.

"You're really gonna make me say it?", you roll eyes and when you're met by his curious gaze you sigh.

"They think you're courting me. Some are even saying that you're in love with me.", you laugh dryly.

"And what if it's true?", Jeonghan says pacing away and locking the door. He comes back and places both his hands on the armrests, hovering over you.

Your eyes blow wide at the proximity and mind almost short circuits at his question.

"C-Can you shift back a bit?", you are literally stumbling upon your words, "I-It's suffocating."

However, Jeonghan has no intention of doing so, rather he inches closer and says, "You didn't answer me, what if those speculations are true?"

This time you scoff, "You can fool all those people out there but you can't fool me. Because I know how much you hate me so... coming to that, I was meaning to ask you, about your motive. Why are you pulling all those acts?"

Jeonghan knows that he'd face this question so he answers honestly, "There's only one motive Y/N. I know you'd find it hard to believe but listen carefully to what I'm gonna say now."

A moment passes by and you wait but with no eagerness. He knows that office is not a right place to confess when you both are clogged into the working hours. He knows you deserve a lot more than this but he's afraid that he doesn't start now, it'll be late.

So he does it anyways, "I love you, Y/N. And that's the only motive. It's love."

He continues, "I'd admit that I found you annoying when you started asking me out but that annoyance gradually faded. I got used to your affection and caring. I liked the essence of you. Office wasn't boring, I wasn't lonely anymore because I had you. I had realised long before that it wasn't hate as what I used to say, you are that flower that blossomed through the cracks of heart by nurturing it with love and care. And before I could actually realize my true feelings, I started reciprocating yours. I am in love with you."

You are absolutely frozen and next, Jeonghan is panicking when he sees the tears pooling at the corner of your eyes.

"You!", you are fuming in rage as you hit his chest, "Such a jerk!", another hit, "Still making fun of my feelings", another one, "using it against me", and he is encasing your hands within his when you say, "Why are you so cruel? Why don't you admit that you don't actually love me but you love the feeling of having someone pinning on you."

"W-What?", Jeonghan feels insulted, his hands are leaving yours and he's pulling back, now standing strout in front of you, "No. No Y/N, you can't just deduct conclusions for yourself, you can't make assumptions for me. You can't validate how I feel! That's so wrong!"

His eyes peer down at you, "How long have you known me Y/N? How well do you know me?"

His question catches you off guard.

Your tear soaked lashes blink at him owlishly. Just as you open your mouth, he interrupts you, "Think about all the time you've spent with me.  Since the day we met to till date. If you know me well you'll get the answer yourself."

Jeonghan suddenly crouches infront of you. Next, he's wiping your tears with his thumbs and stroking your hair with hesitancy at first and when you don't retort he continues doing so while looking at you with those soft almond eyes.

"Please don't cry, don't waste your tears on me cause I'm not worth of those.", he pleads eyes turning grim, "Seeing you cry, breaks my heart."

And that's what you've known about him. Though he could always pull a poker face effortlessly, his eyes give away the emotions.

Like now, those orbs are radiating warmness and endearment.

"If you're feeling unwell, please take the day off. I'll handle the client meeting.", he requests but you're already spilling out protests.

"No. I know how strenuous and lengthy these meetings can be and like last time I can't let you take that--."

"I love you."

Your eyes go wide again and Jeonghan lets out a chuckle.

"Get used to it because like you..", he drawls the words, "I can be very persistent.", and smiles while stroking your hair, "I'll keep trying until you see how sincere my feelings are for you."

And you don't like how loud your heart is thumping at his words.

Currently you're at home, earlier than the time estimated because luckily, the client meeting got cancelled.

It's also a relief that your headache has subsided because you need time. Time to think, time to comprehend everything and time to collect your thoughts.

Jeonghan is a man of few words, it's his actions those are always loud. He knows that a line should never be crossed. He knows when and where to draw a boundary.

And you know what he's doing is completely his personal business because he doesn't care what others think, doesn't entertain his space being invaded by others. You know because that's how Jeonghan is, added to it some of the instances that you had witnessed.

Your mind reels back to when Chaein decided to be a little bold. It was during lunch oneday when Jeonghan decided to visit the canteen which he rarely did nowadays. Not wanting to interrupt your lunch and relax session with your group, even though a seat beside you was empty, he occupied the table adjacent to yours and kept eating quietly, throwing glances at you every now and then.

"That's enough, we should know what's his deal is.", Chaein suddenly claims with newfound confidence, "I'm gonna ask him what he's actually trying to pull."

You and Soonyoung gape at her shocked.

"That's Jeonghan, Chae. Do you not have any fear for your dear life?", Joshua quips dramatically but with concern.

Chaein doesn't bother to lend ear to anyone's comments or your protests.

"Hey Jeonghan", she calls him out and when the said man looks at her she continues, "What are you trying to do these days? Do you have feelings for Y/N or what?"

The condescending look that Jeonghan gave her, spiked shivers within everyone who saw it, including you.

"Seo Chaein", you could see him seething, "I don't understand how this concerns you. Are you Y/N's newly appointed spokesperson, if so then are you getting paid well?", his lips curl in a smirk, "Or is this a habit of yours, being unnecessarily nosy in others business."

He doesn't wait for any retorts, he just leaves. And the rest of you are left consoling the teary Chaein.

You are shrugging off the not so pleasant memory when you receive a text from Jeonghan.

Not a new occurance, he is very punctual in sending you texts, absolute random texts.

And today, he has sent you snap. Your eyes go wide like saucers when you download the image, it's a screenshot of Taylor's speak now re-recording announcement of her recent Instagram post.

Before you could actually comprehend, your fingers are texting back a 'what!! are you serious rn?'

And then you're banging your head on the pillow.

Jeonghan thinks he's hallucinating when his phone dinges a notification of your name. He types back a quick 'yes' and an 'i love you' in a response and now he's giggling like a teenager in love, rolling on the bed, kicking blankets and throwing fists in air.

Seungcheol who had stopped by his door to ask him something, eyes him in horror, thinking at first that his dear friend is possessed but a moment later he guesses the reason correctly. Also he's quick to record the moment for personal reference.

"Did Y/N finally respond back?", Seungcheol ask and lets out a laugh when Jeonghan practically freezes.

He's poised and all stoic in a no time as he sits up in his bed and gives a nod before asking, "What do you want?"

Seungcheol doesn't bother to ask anything, he just sends the video to Jeonghan and sprints back to the guest room.

The colours of his face drain when he watches the video and next, he is banging on the door yelling, "Choi Seungcheol, you're dead if you don't delete that video right now!", he bangs harder, "Yah! Seungcheol open this goddamn door!"

Inside the room, Seungcheol is snickering while putting on the headphones, that video obviously stays.

The Selfish Dilemma || Jeonghan - Part 2

"That haircut suits you.", Chaein says as she takes the seat beside him.

Seokmin smiles, "Oh, thank you. I wasn't sure how it would turn out."

"Come on, you're damn gorgeous. Anything would suit you.", she speaks out nonchalantly as a matter of fact causing the man being spoke out turn into a brighter shade of red.

"How have you been?", she asks and Seokmin understands the insinuation.

"Well, it's not as bad as I thought it would be. To be honest I feel empty because I've been holding it in me so long and now that I've let it all out, it's not as painful, just the emptiness settling it. I'd gradually move on. Y/N is helping me a lot, sounds funny right but she is. And so is Soonyoung and Wonwoo."

Chaein pats on his back, giving a proud smile, "You're doing great and remember you have me as well, Min. Please reach out to me anytime you feel like."

"Thanks Chae, much appreciated."

"I was planning to ask everyone for dinner after work.", she says, "You were always the one to initiate those but nowadays we don't go out much as a group and I really miss our eat-outs."

Seokmin feels bad and realizes that things need to get back to normal because that's how he and everyone stays happy.

"We're going out to our usual restaurant tonight.", he announces and is quickly texting the same words in the group chat, "I'll pull in everyone including, Wonwoo. Who doesn't come without a valid reason, gets kicked out of the group."

Chaein lets out a hearty laugh.

The Selfish Dilemma || Jeonghan - Part 2

Myeongho glares at the man seated in front of him, in his house. The man in front almost cowers away because of the apparent daggers your best friend is shooting at him with his eyes.

"We can't accept this.", Myeongho says eyeing hamper that Jeonghan has bought with him, "Why are you here?", he interrogates, tone too loud which prompts his wife Miso to put a 'tone it down' hand on his shoulder.

Jeonghan thinks whatever he's doing today is absolutely abrupt because first, shows up at Myeongho's house unannounced. Second, if you haven't told him yet then he's gonna reveal his feelings for you to him. Third, well he'll get to that.

When Myeongho says he already had a call with you and he knows, Jeonghan thinks it's time to come clean about his intentions.

So he does, he explains everything, every thought process he went through over the course of time he has known you. How his feelings changed over time, how his perception graded as the time went by. And finally, how he went from hating to sickeningly loving you.

He is so detailed even when verbally exhibiting the timelines of all the realisations those had hit him, that it leaves Myeongho and Miso are stunned.

"Jeonghan", Miso manages to speak, "Why?", she pauses before continuing, "What are you here? What's the meaning of you explaining all this to us?"

Jeonghan smiles, the one that could sooth a heart, "Myeongho has been her best friend since childhood. And you, Miso, I remember her telling once that she doesn't have to worry about Myeongho anymore because he has you. She trust you both with each other and more than that she considers you as her family. She's so excited for the little one, she's used to mention it almost everyday. I wonder who's she sharing her day to day chimes with."

The tears those pricks at the corners of her eyes, Miso blames them on the pregnancy hormones.

"And her family deserves to know that the guy who's courting her inhibits no malicious intentions towards her. I really love her.", Jeonghan sounds sullen when he speaks further, "I know I don't deserve her after all the things I've put her through, but I wish to make up to her no matter how long it takes only if she's willing to give me a chance."

Jeonghan doesn't like how vulnerable love has made him because nowadays, he can't speak of you without getting teary, like now.

Myeongho heaves a sigh. He observes Jeonghan carefully and is even shocked when he notices him trying to wipe his tears discreetly.

"When she used to say that you are a good man, that only your exterior is tough, I used to disregard her saying she's saying this just to defend you, just because she's in love with you.", Myeongho gives a small smile, "But now I could see that she really saw you for who you are. It's upto her, whether she'll accept you or not, but better make up for all the hurt you caused her."

"We're rooting for you.", Miso adds lightly.

Jeonghan's chest swells at their words and just as he's about to leave, Myeongho stops and hugs him. That's when he thinks he has got all the support he needs.

"What's going on here?"

Everyone freezes when they hear your voice.

"What are you doing here Jeonghan?", you walk upto where they're stood.

"He just came to say hi.", Myeongho blurts out hurriedly.

You take a glance at the three faces swiftly, "Okay. Have fun, sorry to interrupt."

Then you're walking out. Myeongho and Miso gives Jeonghan a pleading look and Jeonghan nods before chasing you.

A hand wraps around your wrist and suddenly you're pulled back to his chest. Jeonghan takes the chance to snake his arms around you.

"What are you doing? Unhand me now.", you say, trying to wriggle out of his embrace, which only makes him engulf you in tighter.

"I don't want to.", he says, "Not until you listen to  what I've to say."

Your gaze sweep across and you hiss, "People are watching Jeonghan."

"You know that I never cared about what others think right?", he dips down low so that you could feel his breathes fanning over.

"If you're trying to kiss me then don't.", you whisper.

"I'm not.", he grins mischievously, "It's not that I get to admire you so closely often."

"Who knew you could be this cheeky?", you roll eyes at him, "So won't you tell me what you were doing at my best friends house?"

"I'll tell you that later. And please don't get mad at them, they didn't even know that I was gonna drop by today."

You finally manage to get out of his grip, "Okay fine."

Jeonghan pouts but being good at reflex he gets hold of your hands and says "Since tomorrow is my birthday, can I request something?"

Ofcourse you remember, it's his birthday tomorrow. For the past years you prepared his gifts over a considerable span of time because they had to be special and you curated them with love.

You were the first one to wish him, making sure to call him when the clock stroke 12 at night. Though you never made him cut cakes incase he'd feel uncomfortable, you made him cakes every year and along with other gifts you had them delivered at his address. In return, you'd always recieve a thank you text and that was enough for you.

"Y/N?"

Jeonghan's voice breaks your reverie.

You eye in him with uncertainty and Jeonghan assures you catching on it, "Don't worry, I won't be asking you to do something arduous."

"I'll hear out your request only if you fulfill mine."

Jeonghan is not sure why he's heart is twisting uncomfortably in his chest when he hasn't even heard you out yet. He says, "As long as it's within my vicinity, I try to fulfill it."

"Oh trust me it is.", you say calmly.

"What is it, Y/N?"

You give him a cold smile when you say, "Don't interfere with my transfer request. Let Mr. Choi process it."

A/N: hello 👋🏽 ☺️ I think we all saw the news and may feel a little down, but remember, he'll be okay. It's only 18 months. I'm not crying. You are😭🫂

Who's? | Y.J.H

Even though you knew it was coming, you still couldn’t have prepared yourself for the reality.

You were losing the love of your life. The number one menace that stole your heart with a single smile. All those nights of whispered promises and bare affection would soon be a memory.

“No.” Your broken cry of the single syllables made Jeonghan huff a small laugh.

“Sweetheart, it’s not forever.” His voice soft as he tried to get you to calm down. You were sitting on the couch scrolling on socials when you saw Hybe’s official announcement.

“But everything is going to change.” You whined meekly, tears brimming.

“Nothing is going to change.” Your fiancé insisted as he took a seat right beside you. “I’m still Hannie and you’re still going to be wife.”

“But you wont be here when I get all round and want cravings at 3am. Or when I cant fall asleep because I’m too hot or too cold, who’s going to be here to adjust the temperature or add or reduce our clothing. Or what about when I forget to lock the door before I leave? Hm? Who's going to remind me to lock up? Who am I going to prank even worse, who’s going to prank me? And what-”

“Baby,” Jeonghan gently but curtly cut off your rant of concerns. Taking your hands into his and gazing into your teary eyes. “I will take care of you from wherever I am. You will always be my main priority... Next to staying alive.” He added in jokingly.

“Hannie!”

“I’m kidding, I’m kidding. They’ll probably put me in a sector that’s not as active. Maybe I'll be in the kitchen or the offices. I will be absolutely fine, sweetheart.”

You let go over one hand to stroke his colourful locks. Feeling the strands slip between your fingers, as it felt as though they were slipping through instead. And with a saddened pout you utter, “You’re getting a buzz cut”

Your fiancé chuckles with a grin, “It’s only hair, baby. It’ll grow back.” He takes your hand and kisses the back before tugging you into his lap to hold both his babies. “As for when you get round and cravings and such,” he caresses your still small belly. “I’ll have Cheol buy you whatever you want cause you’re carrying his niece or nephew” you giggle at that while he wipes away your tear tracks. “and I’m sure Joshuji will probably prank you when he’s here to check up on you.”

“Mhm.. he does love to prank me.” You agree.

“And you’ll take pictures and videos of your beautiful body and send them to me, right?” He raises his brow as he dips his chin to meet your eyes.

“Of course, Hannie.” You look up at him with assurance.

“Then we’ll be just fine, sweetheart.” You both settle into the couch and take in the first of the last moments before he leaves in a few weeks. They it hits you and you sit up, staring at him.

“What?” He asks confused.

“What about the birth?” You ask quietly.

“Oh, I'll be dammed if I miss that, baby. No one, not even the sergeants, can stop me from being with you when our baby is debuting into this world. I promise you that.” He speaks with such finality that you feel back at ease and settle down into his arms again. “Plus, the members would have a field day if I missed it.” He adds later on, and you giggle.

One thing was certain, Jeonghan would love and care for you endlessly no matter the circumstances. And you would all the same.

[4:15 am]

My alarm went off, and I was about to go and check my phone but I felt Jeonghan pulling me closer by my waist. “Hannie” I spoke in a very low tone; I had to get up no matter what. “Umm, stay here” I slowly removed his hands from my waist. “I need to get up” I kissed his cheeks lightly and got up; I checked the time and it was already 4 am. I got up and went to take a shower and got ready. Once I was done, I heard a knock on the door. I fixed myself a bit then switched off the night lights and switched on the lights and then went to open the door of our bedroom.

“Noor” I looked at her and smiled, “maa”

“Come down” I nodded, I closed the door carefully because he was still sleeping and I don’t want to disturb his sleep, he already came late home yesterday night and looked so tired.

“Your sargi” I was actually amazed how she kept everything, she made for me, an overwhelming feeling hit me, this was going to be my first Karva Chauth, I had to keep fast until we see the moon. “You have to eat this before sunrise and you have to keep the fast” I nodded and smiled at her. I went took her blessings and took the full big plate of sargi back to my room. I was kind of excited and I had an unknowing loving overwhelming feeling inside.

I opened the door slowly and saw Jeonghan sanding near the window, I was surprised for a second and then slowly closed the door. “Hannie” I called out his name and kept the thali on the table near our bed. He turned to look at me, “Noor” he smiled at me.

“Maa gave you sargi?” I nodded and sat on the bed. I let out a sigh, he came near me, “why are you sighing? You don’t want to keep the fast?” I shook my head, “no, it’s not like that” I gave him a look. I was feeling excited and overwhelming because it’s my first time. He shrugged off and then said “you know these look tasty?” I nodded. “Maa made these” I smiled looking at everything she made. She made gobhi stuffed paratha, paneer ki sabji, kheer, she kept few almonds, fruits, sewai with almonds and dates, coconut water. I saw Jeonghan pick up the bowl which had kheer, I looked at him with a confused face.

“What? I want to taste as well” I gave him a confused look and he took bites after bites. “You know it’s very tasty” I was looking at him in disbelief, he was eating my sargi!!

“Jeonghan, she made this for me, it’s MINE” I was about to get up and snatch it from him, “Okay okay, Noor calm down.” He gave me a bite of kheer. It was tasty, ah, I miss my home where I used to make kheer for myself.

After I ate the kheer, Jeonghan took out the paratha and panner ki sabji, he gave the plate to me after serving. “Awww, hardworking Jeonghan, why aren’t you sleeping and sitting here for me?” I looked at him, he looked at me, and I could see the love his eyes held for me. “Because I don’t want my dear wife to feel lonely while eating her sargi alone” I smiled at him. “But you came home late, and you should get some rest.”

“You’re more important for me Noor” and he pinched my cheeks, I looked at him, almost flustered because what he did. “Jeong-Jeonghan stop” I tried looking away but he was just infront of me.

I started eating the paratha, “Let me taste this as well”

“You ate my kheer already and I had two to three bites hardly, and now you want to eat my paratha as well” I pouted, and I saw him eating it. “You’re insane”

“How can you say that to your husband Noor” and before I could say anything, he kissed me. I was taken aback.

Everything I ate, Jeonghan wanted to taste and we ended up eating half- half of everything. He claimed he wanted to taste everything. I wonder why would this guy even wake up.

Sometimes I wonder, what did I deserve to get him, he always tells me how much he loves me and gives me everything I need, the warmth, the comfort, he understands me and respects me and my decisions; he never questioned me in anything and always supported me in everything.

How everything slowly fit together, when we fell in love, I never thought I would end up with him the way I wanted, it’s not even a year since we get married but each day, he fills my life with more and more happiness as if last seven years were not enough for him to keep me happy.

I couldn’t believe he actually came to talk to my parents to talk about our married with his parents, the fact his parents always knew and supported him. And knowing me, I still had a hard time to accept that I was with him infront of my parents in the end, I decided to tell them before I actually got married and left my home.

I couldn’t thank god any more or less for giving me Jeonghan, as mine.

I had the last bite of apple and heard Jeonghan say, “look, it’s sunrise” I smiled at him.

“Good morning Jeonghan”

“Good morning wifey” and he kissed my forehead.

“I should go get ready and have breakfast” he gave me a teasing smile. I just shook my head, this guy is so annoying at times yet I love him so much. “Yes, go have breakfast. Eat whatever you want.”

“aur tum fast rakhogi aaj meri jaan” (and you will be keeping the fast my love) he and his teasing, I am so done.

“You don’t have work today right?” I shook my head, “No, I took a leave”

“Sadly, your husband couldn’t take a leave and have to go for work today.”

“Of course, you should go and work, and you ate my half sargi. NO WAIT you almost had full of my sargi” I gave him a side look, “You look so adorable” he pinched my nose lightly and I looked at him in disbelief. He got up from the sofa and left.

I looked at the time, it was 5:26 am. I went down to keep the plate and everything. It was almost time for breakfast. I went down and saw mom already in kitchen.

“Noor” she called my name as soon as I stepped inside the kitchen, “what are you doing here?”

“Help you in breakfast like the way I do” she turned to look at me and stopped me from helping her, “No need, you should rest today.” she paused for a second and spoke “it’s sunrise already and you’re fasting. You would be on rest today and since you aren’t going for work today so just rest.”

“But-”

“No, but Noor, go back to your room and leave this here” she told me in the softest way possible.

I kept the plates and went back to my room. I saw Jeonghan sitting on his bed, I walked towards him and sat on bed. “Did mom kick you out from the kitchen?” and he started laughing. I just looked at him, and then nodded and the moment he stopped laughing he said “My dear workaholic wife, it’s fine to take a day off at times. You manage work and home both and help my mom as well in her chores that’s why it’s not wrong to take a small break for a day atleast.” He held my hand.

“I wish I could postpone the meetings I have today, and spend my day with you”

“Jeonghan it’s fine” I smiled at him.

“You taking day off is not normal, and at times we don’t get enough time to spend with eachother, sometimes I feel I should quit being a ceo and you should work and earn for family”

“You’re speaking as if you’re not rich and would die if both of us stop working.” I told him teasingly.

He suddenly pulls me closer and our faces were inches apart, “You speak way too much at times, I can make you quit as well and we can go to vacation for months so, stop tempting me for doing that”

I slightly pushed him, “you are such a tease”

“but you look so pretty in this olive green kurti and patiyala”

“Jeonghan you- I am so done. Can you leave for work already? Please?”

“Really Noor, you look the prettiest in this, I personally love this set of yours”

“When are you leaving Jeonghan?” he again pinched my cheeks and then kissed me.

Tujhme Rab Dikhta Hai

 [1:30 pm]

“Your mehendi looks so pretty Noor” I smiled at Nishi, “All thanks to you” I smiled at her. I might start loving Jeonghan’s sister more than Jeonghan loves her. He always loved her so much and now I see why he loves and adores her so much. She’s lovely. “You can ask bhaiya to search for something here” “Huh?” I asked her and she just smiled.

“And you’re done Noor” she fixed my dupatta. “Finally, I’m done, I want to go and sit on balcony” she nodded and I got up.

“Noor” I stopped my feet, when I heard maa’s voice, “yes?”

“You’re done?” I nodded, “Jeonghan is also back early today” I smiled hearing his name, well, I did miss him. When do I not miss him, it’s normal for me to miss him like this. “Are you going back your room?” I shook my head, “I wanted to go to balcony and wait for the mehendi to dry up”

“Okay, he was searching for you” I looked puzzled and then looked at the time, “It’s lunch time, he came to have lunch at home?”

“He said he already ate, and came home after that” I nodded, he said he had important meetings, maybe he was done. I walked towards my room and spotted Jeonghan coming out of our room. “so, here you are” I was walking carefully because of my mehendi, I don’t want this to mess up.

He came closer to me, “looks like you’re finally done” I nodded and smiled at him

“You’re back early” he stepped closer to me, I took a step back. He was looking at my hands, and yes I was suspecting him into pulling something right now, you can never trust him with his pranks and I could see him planning something.

“Jeonghan” I called his name

“I am wondering about your mehendi” this husband of mine.

“Jeonghan, no. you ain’t touching this mehendi”

“I wanna mess this up so bad”

“Jeonghan-” he was stepping closer, I need to run away or this devil guy will annoy me again, I quickly turned back and started running, I wanted to go back to balcony and sit there peacefully but Jeonghan.

“Noor, stop, don’t run” did I look like a fool that I would stop because he wants me and my mehendi is not even dried up, it’s fresh. It takes minimum three to four hours to dry up, and he wanted to mess up with me; I ain’t letting him do that.

Back when we were campus couple, he wasn’t pulling out pranks and he wouldn’t even tease like he does now, in his defence he said since I am with him and officially his wife he can tease me all he wants.

My mind was still, how he looked so beautiful maroon sherwani during our wedding, that smile when my hand was given to him, he looked so precious, I just wanted to protect his smile always and wanted to continue being the reason of his smile.

That one smile changed everything, and now here we are, husband and wife.

I was suddenly pulled by my arm and I was in his embrace in another second. My hands were safe, nothing happened to my dear mehendi and here he was holding me in his embrace tightly, his hands were holding me securely. “I wouldn’t dare to mess up with your mehendi noor, how could I do that”

I lifted my face too see him, “Jeonghan…”

“Meri jaan, I was just teasing you because I love teasing you, but I wouldn’t dare to do this. You look so cute when you runaway from me.”

“Jeonghan… we are not in our room” I was hesitating because what if someone saw us, “and we are married, I can do anything I want and this is my house” this guy, he is impossible.

“I don’t want to let you go when you are finally in my embrace.” His hand was on my head, and my head was pressed on his chest, I could hear his heartbeat, it was just like me.

After few seconds, he let go of me carefully. “Where were you heading to?” “Balcony, I wanted to sit there, because I had nothing to do and since I am getting a bit sleepy, I rather go sit there and read something.” he fixed my dupatta and held my shoulder. “let’s go” I looked at him and he was careful with my mehendi, he is such a tease and I love this tease so much.

We got into our bedroom and he closed the door, I was standing behind him, without taking any more step. He turned to look at me, “You should know whenever you wear this type of kurti and patiyala and a dupatta with it, you look like you came down from heaven, look at yourself now.” He took me towards the mirror and he was standing beside me, “you look the best in green, no matter how many times I tell you, nothing changes the fact.” I looked at us, he was holding my shoulder delicately, he was in casuals now, grey sweatshirt and sweatpants. He was looking at me, I could see it through the mirror.

I turned to look at him, “Jeonghan” his hands were on my shoulders, “Yes?”

“I love you” he looked surprised, well it’s not me who always tells him how much I love him or adore him, it’s always him. I can’t say it on his face, it takes time for me to say. He quickly kissed me on my lips, I was still looking at him, “stop being so adorable or else your mehendi would be ruined because I am holding back my urge to kiss you and pull you in my arms right now.” I laughed at him and laughed as well. The sound of his laugh is the most comforting one.

He took me to the bed, “you can get some sleep, I will stay here and take care of your mehendi.” I looked at him with a confused face, how did he even know that I am getting sleepy, “it’s okay, Hannie”

“You must be sleepy because of fasting and I bet you were the one who did everyone’s mehendi first and then yours was done in the end.”

How did he know?

“I just know you Noor, I know you.” she smiled at me. Since I couldn’t use my hands, he took my dupatta and kept it on the bed, and helped me to adjust. Since I was still in sitting position, he pulled the comforter to cover half of me.

How can he be such a loving husband, when I started dating him, I never thought I would get such an loving husband and will discover this side of him as well, because back then he was just full of fun and brainy guy, I never saw this coming.

“You can get a nap, Noor. It’s fine trust me.” he got up from the bed and gave me a forehead kiss.

Tujhme Rab Dikhta Hai

[5:10 pm]

“Noor, noor. Wake up”

“Noor”

I slowly opened my eyes, I saw the lights on and Jeonghan’s face inches apart while he was holding my face softly. Did I really fall asleep? “What’s the time Jeonghan?”

“It’s 5:10 pm already, you need to take this off as well, right?” his another hand was holding mine.

“OH MY GOD YES” I was about to get up in a hurry but he held my hand, “slow down Noor, it’s fine. There’s no hurry and mom didn’t come yet. You’ve time to get ready and I think you already have everything you need today.” I nodded, remembering mom came few days ago and gave me the lehenga and saree, she told me to wear whatever I feel like. That saree was pretty one though, wearing a lehenga, umm.

I slowly got up and went to get over with my mehendi, because it’s fully dried up. After I came back to my room, I saw Jeonghan taking out my saree and jewellery. “Jeonghan” I saw him standing infront of our closet.

I walked towards him, and hugged him from back. “Noor” and he turned to look back at me, his loving eyes were the first thing I ever fell for. He removed the strands of my hair and tugged them behind my ears which were covering my face. “Are you feeling, okay?” I nodded, “Are you sure?” I nodded again, “meri jaan” and kissed my forehead.

He should know that I can never get used to these two words whenever he calls me ‘meri jaan’ I feel like I melt then and there, the way he calls me ‘meri jaan’ it feels like he makes me melt with his voice.

“You should get ready because I will get ready as well, and I took out the saree maa gave to you, because I felt like maybe you want to wear saree tonight.”

“How do you know everything I want to do Hannie~”

“Okay, now go get ready and I will check what will I wear.” I nodded and let go of his waist. I turned around and was about to go towards the bed because he kept my everything there, but he suddenly pulled me by my arm. I collided with his chest lightly, he held both my hands, “your mehendi looks so pretty and the colour looks so beautiful” he was tracing the mehendi design, “Jeonghan, I need to get ready” I slightly pushed him and left him there. I heard his chuckle from back.

After few minutes, I was almost ready and walked back to the room, I still had to fix my saree and check the pleats if they are done or not. The moment I looked up, my eyes met with Jeonghan, he was looking so beautiful in white kurta. The colour looked so nice on him; I was in awe. It’s very rare to see Jeonghan in traditions and this happens only in occasions which is still rare for me to see him like this.

I was awestruck.

I walked towards him slowly. he was wearing white kurta and it was looking beautiful because of the embroidery on the collar. I almost couldn’t take my eyes off him. “Noor” he called me name and I walked closer to him.

“Yes?” he suddenly knelt down and patted his thighs, I was confused for a second then I saw him holding my payal, “tumhari payal meri jaan”  I was so flustered, oh god, this man, yes my husband is making me go insane.

I gently gave my leg and he put the payal around very gently. Once he was done, he stood up “and it’s done” he smiled at me. I got ready, I wore my kajal and eyeliner, and applied lipstick. Once I was done then I did my hair, I did half braid quickly. I looked at the mirror and saw Jeonghan smiling at me through the mirror. I picked up my earrings and wore it. I was done and suddenly Jeonghan came closer, the close proximity, his breaths were hitting my bare neck, more over because I was wearing a blouse today rather than the kurti I wear usually. He leaned towards the dressing table and picked up a chain, I was about to turn to look at him but then he held my shoulders and stopped me from moving. “Don’t move”

He put the chain on my neck very carefully, then gave a quick peck on my neck. I was taken aback because of this sudden act, “this is for you. I wanted to give this to you today” I turned to look back at him and hugged him tight. I would literally tear up because of the love and affections he gives me.

We heard a knock on my door and I went to open the door, “maa”

“you look so pretty and Jeonghan you’re ready as well” she smiled at us, she held my cheeks and gave me a kiss on my cheeks. I smiled at her, “now let’s go down and let’s do the remaining rituals” I nodded and we went downstairs.

I saw everyone sitting there, I walked carefully along with Jeonghan. After going down I saw, the way everything was kept and decorated, we had to decorate the kalash and other things. Once everything was done, and kept in the thali (a big plate), we had to go the terrace, because we would see the moon there.

After few minutes, the moon came out. I heard maa “the moon is here” then I went to pick up my thali which was on the table and had my head covered with pallu. Then I had to lit up the diya, then kept the diya on the Chhanni then while looking at the moon through the chhannie I had to pour the water from the kalash. Then after keeping the empty kalash on the other side, then I turn to look at Jeonghan and the moment I looked at him, I saw him holding a chhanni and looking at me. I was surprised to see him holding a chhanni and looking at me, “Jeonghan yeh kya kar rahe ho?” (Jeonghan what are you doing?)

“Wahi jo tumhne aaj mere liye kiya hai”

I was still confused, what was he trying to say, “meri jaan” and once again he goes with ‘meri jaan’ “fast rakha hai tumhare liye meri jaan” (I kept the fast for you my love)

I was taken aback, he kept fast for me and I didn’t know.

“this is the first time Jeonghan ever kept fast for anyone, and you’re the one for whom he kept the fast, this shows how much he loves you” I heard maa say this while completing and almost breaking her fast, she was almost done.

“Ab mujhe yeh chaand ko dekhne ki zaroorat nehi kyunki mujhe apni chaand mil gai hai”

“Jeonghan…” how could he just say these words so casually, I was tearing up slowly.

“Ho gaya? Kyunki mujhe abhi bhook bhi lagi hai”  I nodded trying not to tear up.

I had to take out the diya from the chhanni and keep it on the thali and chhanni on the table. After that I had to do the arti, once done I smiled at him and he smiled at me. he take the kalash from the thali and helps me drink the water and I do the same. And now I had to hold the thali and bow down, but before I could bow down after fixing my pallu, Jeonghan was quick to touch my feet and I was in disbelief. How could he do, and he didn’t let me touch his feet. He took the kaju katli, from the thali and gives me a bite, I saw him checking out our sides and suddenly he comes closer and takes a bit of the kaju katli as well, our lips touch and he pressed his lips more.

I was too flustered to even react, once he takes a step back, he could see how flustered I was. What if maa saw us, what if- I turn to look at my sides, and no one was here, not maa, papa aur Nishi. They all left and it was just us. I let out a small relief sigh, Jeonghan is insane.

“you’re insane, tum kuch bhi karte ho kahin pe bhi”  I looked at him,

“Haan, I’m insane because of you” he took a pause before speaking, “pata nehi hai tumko?”  and then he kissed my forehead, and says, “lambi umar k liye sirf tum hi kyun dua maango chaand se, maine bhi maang li aaj chaand se tumhare liye lambi umar meri jaan” he took another pause, “jisse ki hamari dono ki lambi umar ho aur mai tumhe issi tarah pyaaar kar sakun hamesha hamesha k liye” I was feeling overwhelmed and couldn’t resist anymore, why was he like this. I quickly gave him a peck. I wanted to love him more than he loves me

He smiled at me and says “Let’s go down now, I’m hungry” we were about to leave and maa comes and says “tumdono ka romance khatam ho gaya ho toh khane chalen?” and all of us burst out laughing and I got so shy.

Jeonghan held my shoulders and we went down, before going down he says, “tujhme raab dikhta hai yaara mai kya karu”

“I love you so much Noor” and kissed my cheeks.

“Noor, Noor, wake up” I felt Jeonghan’s fingers tracing my face, I opened my eyes slowly. I looked at the beautiful pair of eyes, “meri jaan” these two words oh god.

“What’s the time?” I asked still in a sleepy voice, his fingers were tracing my cheeks. “8:30 am” my eyes opened instantly, on realization. We need to leave by 9 am for our work respectively; I was about to wake up hurriedly “why didn’t you wake me up early Jeonghan? We’re going to be late, oh god”

“Noor” he caged me, “Jeonghan…”

“Aaj Eid hai, did you forget meri jaan. It’s a holiday” how could I forget about today, I sighed. I’ve been so busy with work lately, I forgot about Eid. “Eid Mubarak meri jaan” he tugged my hair behind my ears and smiled. The smile which reminds me I’m home, and he is my home.

“Eid Mubarak” he pulled me closer, my head was on his chest. “I need to get up Hannie and help maa in preparing everything.”

“You’re not working today, anymore. Enjoy Eid with resting today” he looked at me and I was looking at him. “You were so busy that you even forgot about Eid today Noor, how is that fair? That’s why go on rest mood and just enjoy Eid with us. Okay?” I nodded and he kissed my forehead.

I don’t remember for how long we cuddled and I got up from the bed once we heard the knock on our bedroom room. Jeonghan went to open the door and I went to take a shower. I was sure it was maa, probably came to wake us up for breakfast. I don’t remember sleeping past 8 am ever since I started working and specially after getting married. So, today waking up at almost 9 am was more than I could ever ask for, I actually needed this sleep and rest.

I wore a cream colour kurti and patiyala, I was searching for the dupatta but I couldn’t find it. I felt Jeonghan walking towards me, “are you searching for your dupatta again?” he can read me so smoothly. I nodded without looking back at him. I felt he came closer to me, his breaths were hitting me, I saw him taking out my dupatta from the upper self, I wondered when did I keep it there.

I turned to look at him, he was holding my dupatta, “yeh lo tumhara dupatta” I took it from him, “I don’t remember keeping it there” I whispered but he definitely heard it, “but I remember keeping it there.” I was looking at down then looked at him. He came closer and trapped me between his arms and wardrobe, “Jeonghan?”

“Haan meri jaan” my heart skipped beats because of him and his words. He leaned towards me, I almost stopped breathing and closed my eyes; I felt his breaths hitting my face and suddenly I felt a kiss on my cheeks and his fingers pinched my nose. “It’s too early for anything Noor” I opened my eyes instantly. He was giving me his famous teasing look with a smirk and a laugh. He teased me again.

I lightly pushed him, and put the dupatta on my shoulder, “You are so annoying, I’m going downstairs” and I heard him laugh.

After having breakfast, I asked maa if I could help her today and she insisted me to rest up today but I wanted to make, kheer for everyone and she finally gave up.

After making kheer for everyone, maa suggested me to apply mehendi. I was about to say no and help her in making dishes but she just insisted and I couldn’t say no to her. She even asked Nishi, my sister-in-law to apply it on me.

After sitting almost, for forty-five minutes, I was done. “and you’re done” she smiled at me. “thank you” she just gave me a look “I don’t take thank you from my best bhabi” I wish my hands were not filed with mehendi fully or else I would've given her a hug. A tight hug which she deserves.

“I lowkey want to see the reaction of Jeonghan when he will see your mehendi” I looked at her, “Why so?”

“Ask him to check your mehendi once dried up and everything” I was about to say something but I saw Jeonghan standing and leaning on the door. He smirked at me, and said “meri jaan” and I can never get it wrong, never ever. I was so flustered and he was so satisfied with it, his face said it all.

“Bhabi, you should go and rest up in your bedroom while wating for this to dry. You’ve a holiday anyway” I diverted my attention back to Nishi

“But”

“No buts, you work way too much and ask bhaiya to keep you company, he is just too jobless and wouldn’t mind to keep you company” she laughed “look at him, he can’t even take his eyes off you right now.” I looked at him and he was just smiling at us. “Sometimes I wonder how does he even work, like you know missing you during his work and I’ve never seen him so lovesick, the way he is for you. Honestly one day I thought he lost his mind when I saw him giggling at his phone and it turned out it was a video of you petting a kitten. He is such a lovesick”

“Stop Nishi” I was getting embarrassed.

“Sach me, aapko pata bhi hai, kitne der se dekh rahe the aapko, usnki jaan jo ho aap” I gave her a look again.

“Acha chalo, you’re done now and it looks like he is waiting for you, now go” I got up and walked towards the door, Jeonghan left the moment I got up from the sofa.

I walked towards our bedroom, I’ve no work anyways so I could just rest today. I entered and almost jumped in surprise, when I heard the voice “Looked like you enjoy Nishi’s company more than me, is that true meri jaan?” I almost got a heart attack.

“Jeonghan!” I looked at him, he was looking sulky, “You almost scared me.” I walked inside and heard him close the door. I didn’t look back and went to sit on the bed.

“You didn’t answer my question Noor” he came to sit beside me, this side of Jeonghan is so rare. “Well… you could tell your sister… to be less adorable and fun around me” I smiled at him

“Am I not fun?”

“Well not more than Ni-” and I couldn’t complete this because he kissed. He was holding my arms carefully, and kissed me more.

He was pressing his lips softly but more on my lips, his lips touched my lips for a brief moment which was meant for teasing, I know him very well, before he could tease me more, he pulled himself back, the feeling of his lips on mine made me miss and crave for more. I was about to pout but he spoke.

“You talk too much at times.” I was in shock, “You are the one who asked!”

“Yes yes I know still you were about to say you like Nishi more.” I was about to say something but he didn’t give me the chance to say anything and put a small gulab jamun inside my mouth, I couldn’t help but to enjoy the taste. I loved it, “You liked it?” I nodded, and he came closer to take a bite of the gulab jamun. I was in shock, he pressed his lips against mine again and this time, one of his hand was on my waist, supporting me from falling backwards on bed. He was the only support I had or else I would've lost balance because of his sudden kisses. This kiss was more like he was telling me, something. He looked satisfied and pulled back. “Gulab jamun is tasty, glad maa decided to make it today.” I was looking at him, and his thumb was caressing my lips, the urge to kiss him was more, why would he tease him. I was looking at his lips, probably unable to say anything more, “Jeonghan” my voice came out low and hoarsh, and in a blink he’s kissing me. Once, twice, until I’ve had a taste and a realization, that I’ll never have enough. He’s holding my waist and my arm, careful about the mehendi, which I almost forgot because of him. Suddenly he’s kissing me harder, harder like it’s a need right now. He kissed me until we are out of breath.

“Your lips taste sweet. Wish I could taste you more just like this.”

“I need to tell Seungcheol to stop giving you flirting ideas like this”

He could see how he flustered me, “you still get flustered everytime I kiss you”

“Eid Mubarak meri jaan”

And Then I Met You

“Good morning Aisha-” Jeonghan entered the bedroom, he wanted to inform her, that he already made breakfast and was leaving early because of a meeting. But when he entered the bedroom he didn’t see his wife, “Aisha, Aisha” he started calling her name but there was no response at all, he panicked. He went towards the washroom and knocked on the door, “Aisha, are you inside? Aisha?” there was still no response, “Aisha at least response, please reply me back, are you okay?” Jeonghan was more than worried, he wasn’t this worried and devasted when everything happened two months ago. After five minutes, he knocked on the door again, “Aisha I’m coming inside please stay away from the door” he had no other choice rather than entering, he saw Aisha sitting on the bathroom floor, and the moment Aisha looked at her husband, she sighed in relief, she had no strength at all. All these morning sicknesses were making her weak.

“Aisha… oh my god” he went closer to her and picked her up carefully. Aisha, clung her hands to Jeonghan’s neck “why didn’t you call me Aisha” She buried her face on his chest, he was smelling so fresh and his nice cologne somehow gave comfort to Aisha. Aisha was already used to this feeling, Jeonghan carrying her around whenever she felt dizzy or weak. “Aisha… when I said, I’ll take care of you and you’re my responsibility, I meant it. Truly” Aisha was feeling guilty for everything that happened past two months. He placed her on the bed and gave her a glass of water. “Aisha” he lowered to her height and looked at her. She drank water and kept the glass on the side table. “Are you off to work Jeonghan?” he shook his head, “I was, I am not going anymore, my wife needs care right now. How can I leave my wife alone?”

“But Jeonghan-” he pressed fingers on her lips, refraining her to speak further, he took out his phone and dialed a number. “I would apply for a leave and you can attend the meeting in my place. I need to stay with Aisha today, she’s not feeling well, do let her know. I’ll send you all the files in a few minutes. Do well with the presentation and don’t forget to suggest the things we decided yesterday.”

“She’ll be okay.” his team members knew about Aisha because sometimes Jeonghan applies for half day for her appointments.

“Good luck, Junho” and he hung up. Aisha was feeling guilty that she was the reason he didn’t go to attend a meeting, everything that happened that day, Aisha was reminded of everything. She cannot forget how Seungcheol, reacted.

“did you sleep with him?” she was shocked because, she never thought he would actually say that to her and questioned her loyalty, “you’ve lost your mind Seungcheol” Aisha argued back, because nothing like this happened. How could even Seungcheol not listen to her even once, and accuse her of cheating.

“did you sleep with my bestfriend behind my back?”

Aisha teared up thinking about Seungcheol and looking at her Jeonghan’s eyes softened. He took a seat beside her on the bed and pulled her into a hug, “Aisha… it’s okay”

“You always do so much for me and this is not even your-” he made her face him, “Don’t ever say that, okay? Don’t forget you’re my wife now. I am your husband, and I am supposed to do things which counts as my responsibility, so never say anything like that.” He wiped her tears, “thankyou so much” the urge to kiss her forehead was something he was resisting. He didn’t want to make anything awkward between them, he just wanted to give all the love that Aisha and the baby deserved. He can’t turn back time but he can be her husband and take care of them.

“Aisha” he called her name and caressed her cheeks, she was starting to feel better. Aisha was always thankful to Jeonghan for everything, maybe she can’t say it aloud everytime, but she was always grateful to Seungcheol for making her meet Jeonghan. “Freshen up and I’ll bring your breakfast in the room.” Aisha nodded, Jeonghan was giving all the love and comfort she was craving and wanted, it was her heart that hurts at times at the thought of Seungcheol. He was supposed to the one who should be taking care of her, but it’s Yoon Jeonghan who is doing everything. Aisha held the hem of Jeonghan’s shirt, Jeonghan looked at his wife, and gave a small smile. “I’ll be quick, okay?” she nodded at his words.

Soon, Jeonghan walked out of the room.
