What Was The Point Of Daemon/Alyssa Exactly? To Show How Disgusting HotD Is? Not Even Dumb And Dumber
What was the point of Daemon/Alyssa exactly? To show how disgusting HotD is? Not even Dumb and Dumber would write a parent/child scene and they wrote a lot of fucked up stuff.
It's simply there to make Daemon look awful and to drag out this show unnecessarily. The writers are spending such a ridiculous amount of time with Daemon fucking around in Harrenhal just so they can get more time without spending time on other important characters. Rhaena, for example, is getting absolutely nothing, even though they're clearly setting her up for Nettles' arc.
So basically the purpose is to be shitty, anon. Some people might try to mask it with pseudo-intellectualism, but that's the truth of it.

I’m almost certain Alicent is gonna take Aegon III’s place during Rhaenyra’s death scene.
I got this ask awhile ago, and it's been sitting in my drafts for awhile, I'm so sorry about that anon.
However, now that we're like halfway through s2, I am even more inclined to agree with you. It honestly seems like Alicent's arc is ramping up to her having a "come to jesus" moment where she repents of all her wrongs and tries to reconcile with Rhaenyra (again).
Considering how Aegon III is basically just a set piece (along with Viserys II), I wouldn't be surprised if they gave this formative scene to one of the more "important" characters. And which character has benefitted the most from stealing from others? Alicent. The only difference in this situation would be the writers are stealing from a male character for once.
I also definitely think that if they include Alicent's death (which I'm willing to bet they will), she will be regretting everything with Rhaenyra, not her children. She'll be obsessing over the forced sapphic drama the writers are obsessed with over her own children.
Dany is just as crazy as her dad
No, she's not. Try reading a book sometime🫶
People asking incredulously why Aegon II has fans are forgetting something: his actor’s good looking. Fans are ready to forgive anything (and I do mean anything) for a hot guy.
People who like Aegon II would’ve been all over Joffrey if he was more book accurate and William Mosley was cast instead.
Oh definitely, certain people will excuse anything as long as the person is pretty enough.
However, I do also think that the internet brainrot probably has something to do with it. I mean the prevalence of the whole stalker/rape fantasy on the internet (specifically booktok) seems to be a lot more severe than it was when GOT premiered. Obviously people with kinks that are darker have always been around, but this isn't just indulging a kink. More than ever, there are people obsessed with romanticizing and excusing absolutely monstrous behavior because the guy is hot.
So yeah, Aegon definitely has pretty privilege, but I also think there's more issues than just that here.
I've said this before and I'll say it again:
One of our biggest hurdles towards justice in Palestine is forgetfulness.
One of the main reasons Israel continues to commit replicas of the same massacres weeks, sometimes days, apart with complete impunity is because Israel is counting on the world to forget. Israel's founders have said exactly that.
But since generations of Palestinians have made it very clear that forgetfulness is not an option, this meant that Israel's next target became the selective amnesia of the west, which has consequently become the cornerstone of Israel's impunity.
I'm just living it up over how s2 is just constantly making Alicent's hypocrisy front and center. Like they're finally committing after the totally insane shit they tried to pull last season.
Like this woman hated Rhaenyra so much for having extramarital sex and "endangering the realm". But now she's leaving her grandchildren unprotected by sending the guards away just so she could get some extramarital dick. On top of that, she, you know, literally started the war.
Then she literally tried to stab out a six year old's eye in revenge and wouldn't accept any apology at Driftmark. Yet her son literally murders a thirteen year old envoy, and she expects a condolence letter and some prayers to make up for it.
Alicent is a fucking delusional hypocrite and I'm so glad HOTD has finally stopped trying to gaslight the audience over that.
(Granted they're still failing with almost everything else, but I'm trying to be more positive this summer, so I'll just focus on this lmao)
