â I actually don't know what's that, and I don't even don't want to know. Cocks are overrated.â

Her nonexistent patience after almost getting ran over evaporated as quickly as soon the entity opened his mouth. Still, she waited close to the wreck, waiting for him to stumble out and also keeping a careful eye on the ever growing puddle, ready to unceremoniously yank him away in the worst case scenario.
An eyebrow raised as the young man peacocked himself almost back to perfection after the crash.
âOh? And you think I give a shit?â her weight shifted to her left to add a little unnecessary flair to the statement before the other part
âBe fucking grateful I'm not continuing with your face.â

Oh he had other thoughts besides himself; that's a surprise. Before she could spit an introduction, the fuel and remaining sparks of her fire met with a dangerous, hungry sparkle and fused together in a devastatingly loud explosion. The civilians.
Cindy hasn't mastered this trick fully but it couldn't wait; thankfully it was her fire. Flames shifted to take place of the jade green of her eyes, reflexively stepping in front of the dumbass driver. The charred remains of the car fell back to the concrete with a metallic shriek, but the fire stayed in the air, as if contained in an invisible bubble. Flames tried to curl, to expand, the trapped energy violently rolling against the barrier.
âYou better fucking shut up until I'm done.â

Deep controlled breaths, nimble dance of fingers and the unseen mental concentration to calm down the roaring destruction and call it back from where it came from. Flames eventually slipped from the invisible container, slipping into her body with a directed flow until all of what the explosion produced returned to the Fire herself.
âCindy Flameâ a winded cough, producing a cloud of charcoal black smoke from her lips âSpirit of Vengeance and Artistic Freedom.â
âAlso known as The Fire.â she added both as a small boast and explanation of her previous displays of power
âAnd who are you? Why are you familiar?â Cindy asked almost accusingly, her ability to 'see into the past' was a heavy exaggeration. She occasionally had ghostly visions, images of smoke, either too thick to see through or too thin to make anything out. She had some knowledge of the Fire's path before It arrived to her, to Its final destination; from the whispers she began to understand that this reckless, arrogant shithead had crossed It's path enough to leave an impression. The question is friend or foe?

Cindy discovered the hidden portals to Hell fairly early, although she never had enough time to explore due to her demanding job and other activities. The thrill of falling havenât failed to cause a better mood for the adrenaline addicted spirit, the landing wasnât too difficult; sure she couldâve made it more dramatic to announce her arrival. Not yet. A gut feeling whispered and since her death she learned to fully trust it.
She always landed in the outskirts, she often crossed paths with a tall, horned, well built woman who seemed to come from a different century, especially with that red cape. From whispers Cindy learned she was a general or commander; depended on who she asked.
The city was growing in an alarming rate, the always pumping music became borderline unbearable even when she wasnât near the center. And of course most of it was trash. Still, Cindy enjoyed the little adventures to a different realm, carefully taking mental notes about every new and old, gotten used to the enthusiastic catcalling; it was tolerable until it got physical.
She waited patiently until the traffic lights switched, halfway through she helped to pick up fruits from the torn bag for a tiny red skinned woman; an imp now she knew. Music blaring wasnât unusual, especially this deep in the town, so she paid no mind until it was rapidly approaching as a bright green blur.

Her reflexes were outstanding and inhumane but the lightning quick calculation of the situation left her unsure whenever it will be enough. Cindy did not fancy being ran over because some idiot decided to ignore the lights and expected her to jump aside.
Milliseconds before the collision her fire flared bright as a protective shield, the carâs front melting upon contact before bouncing off and skidding away a good ten meters. The barrier had swallowed most of the impact so at least the car hasnât done flips and maneuvers belonging to a Fast and Furious movie.
But oh she was furious. Steel heeled boots thundered on the street as she called her fire back and crossed the distance. The driverâs door was already half off its hinges, it wasnât too much of a feat to rip it clean off and send it flying.

â Who the FUCK you THINK YOU ARE- wait I donât give a fuck.â she half leaned into the car to growl at the driver. Judging by the remains of his car it was a luxury model so he either must be someone rich or important, or both. Only that Cindy Flame wasnât famous for respecting either of that.
Her anger was briefly calmed by something akin to a light breeze, despite it was impossible due to the surroundings and the lingering heat of her fire. The driver wasâŠfamiliar. SheâŠhas met him butâŠnot like this.
âGet out.â Cindy snapped, the softer tone than before roughened by urgency
âThe fuel tank is leaking and when it comes in contact with my flames, it wonât be pretty. And no, youâre not safe even if you are resistant to fire because my fire is cosmic. Now, can you move or walk?â she asked as she reached into the wreck

The past better left undisturbed; especially if her mind refused to reach this memory. She could remember the grand event of creating of galaxies and small moments when she passed by awestruck beings from an another planet. He was only smoke and pyre; waiting for her to reignite this fire if she wished to. And judging by his silent pain mixed relief, she probably should.

Jade eyes flicked to the offered hand, too good to be true. What if she phrases right through him as if he was made of stardust, if those whispers pulling her soul closer are about to lead her to a soul breaking fall?
âYes. I would like that very much.â lips spoke without thinking, her fingers brushing against his at last.
Careful at first, the enormous weight of him not being a fever dream lifted from her shoulders as her fingers finally wove around his. There weren't fireworks or dramatic flying sparks, only her warm aura hummed with content and despite the many uncertainties, part of Cindy felt...content.
The question where to lingered in the air, and she found herself not minding the slightest if Seviathan guided her. The rest of the world still hasn't set in, not that she wanted to. Peace yet swirling uncertainty. By now Cindy was used to being the enigma of polar opposites.

So the feeling of familiarity was mutual. She noted mentally at the quite drastic change in his demeanor. As soon as the words âwe have metâ left his lips, the rest of the world stopped existing. The pull was stronger, the picture oh so slowly clearing but still not enough. Yet she knew he wasnât lying, she felt it.
Shock, awe replaced the anger along with a twinge of sadness foreign yet part of her. An uncertain step forwards, part of her history was standing within arms reach she wasnât always alone, a secret of cosmos which hasnât opened up for her fully.

âIâŠI remember youâŠbut barely.â she whispered, threading through the smoke âI liked you.â I. Not âsheâ. Cindy willingly let it slip
An another step closer, tiny brilliant golden wisps framing her form in search of answers, of her past.
âIâm no host. I am The Fire.â if anyone had called her a mere host, the reaction wouldâve been vastly different. This time the proof wasnât a merciless rain of cosmic fire or a gruesome transformation, but her eyes: still vivid jade green, but underneath shone the whole universe, the almond slits glistening windows of what the Force has created.
She was searching for him, he must have been important to bring forth such emotions without even truly trying. She wanted to, ached to reach for him; physical connection would help, butâŠshe was unsure. After all, she wasnât exactly the same woman, the only thing linking Cindy to the host was the incredible power in her veins.
âI donât see herâŠonly you.â it was still faint and fleeting, no matter how the galaxy eyed woman tried to concentrate on the slippery past
When the memory began to clear, an another cough rose in her throat, the thick black smoke chasing away what she has achieved, leaving her on the edge of the abyss with unreachable knowledge.
âFuck your car sideways Seviathan.â there was no bite in her tone anymore, his name slipping with such ease that Cindy didnât even notice

There was so much he felt like he sound said yet her was silent for a long time, he will say it seemed like the fire connected all of itâs âhostsâ more deeply than it thought. It was mainly that phrasing.
âI liked you.â
Thatâs what echoed through his mind. At least this wasnât a case where heâd had to deal with all feelings being completely unrequited, he had questions obviously and there was the fact to accept that this was not the same woman he met decades ago. A different woman he had mourned, fallen in love with, touched, and now he got to see again. It was heart warming, it hurt, and yet he felt more relaxed than before.
He took a few steps closer also unsure if he was allowed to touch, if it would be too much especially with all the emotions coursing through her at the moment.Â
Finally he managed to say something, âEh. Thereâll be another one.â he joked, his former annoyance and anger pretty much gone. Too many other things on his mind at the moment.  âWanna get out of here, Cindy?â He had said the same thing her in the past, though different circumstances, a hand offered out to her, subtly asking for permission to touch as well.Â
He had no idea whereâd they go. Probably just wander among the streets, maybe heâd bring her back to his place if the moment called for it. But right now he just wanted to talk. Talk to her. Talk to Cindy. Laugh for a bit. JustâŠenjoy the moment. All the years he spent without her were weighing heavy on him, yet he kept an odd amount of control over them. Heâd never be so composed yet so emotionally distraught.Â
HeâŠreally missed her.
