The paper is pushed in your direction softly, sliding against the dark wood with ease and only stopping once its contents are visible to you. Your eyes then scan the words carefully, trying to comprehend and make sense of the situation at hand with the limited details at your disposal.

“A contract? You really think I’m going to sign a contract, Lee Minho?”

Said man shrugs in his seat across from you, a rehearsed smile present on his plump lips. The type of smile he only sports at the business dinners and galas his family forces him to attend, one he has perfected since childhood.

“If we’re going to do this, we might as well do it properly.”

His words make you raise an eyebrow, staring at him in disbelief, “Who said anything about this happening in the first place?”

“Me.” He states like it’s the most obvious thing in the world, completely dismissing whatever opinion you have on the matter.

And as always, Lee Minho thinks he is entitled to everything in this world – nothing new here. Since childhood, he has been served everything he’s ever wanted on a silver platter as the one and only precious child of the Lee family. From toys to clothes to gadgets and friends, Minho had the best things money could offer from the day he was born, much like yourself. You grew up together, after all, shaped from the beginning to be those perfect little kids worthy of being each other’s best friend and getting your parents’ approval. Your fate was pretty much sealed even before either of you was born since your moms were both best friends and business partners.

However now, as an adult, this lifestyle of his was being threatened, which has your old friend panicking. Sorry, ex-friend. You are sure Minho would rather jump from a plane than ask for your help under normal circumstances yet here he was, defeated and pathetic. Desperate times call for desperate measures and he reached such a high level of desperation that had him running back to you, the person he now couldn’t stand.

Hilarious.

So, you laugh. You laugh in his face like you’ve never laughed before because this is the most outrageous thing you’ve ever heard in your life. The nerves of him, thinking he can treat you like one of his low-lives groupies that would bend over backwards to fulfill his every wish.

Minho must be forgetting whom he was speaking to.

“And who do you think you are to make such a decision by yourself?”

He smirks, almost like he was anticipating this question, the sight unsettling. “Someone with information.”

With a snap of his fingers, a big folder is pushed in your direction by the man at his side that’s been standing here from the moment you walked into the wolf’s den. Gaeul, his trusty personal assistant that has been working and taking care of Minho for as long as you’ve known him, doesn’t even look at you. Visibly older now, the job as Lee’s household ‘babysitter’ has been kind to him it seems since he looks as polished as ever. You’re aware Minho cherishes him the most out of all the people employed by his family so there’s no doubt in your mind that Gaeul gets only the best treatment.

Minho would fall apart without him, after all.

Pushing away the reminiscing, you then open the folder to start reading its contents, the smug smirk on Minho’s face never faltering. And you quickly understand why with every word you read, eyes widening gradually in astonishment. Every single one of those files was a report of all of your reckless spending, crazy parties and getaways your parents had no clue about – luxuries you paid for mostly with the money they gave you to donate at the many galas they had you attend. Galas you never showed your face at that were sent pennies, an amount that was barely acceptable to save your reputation and not alert your parents.

This piece of shit – he is blackmailing you!

Two Years Ago February

May"Hyun, please don't message her like this. The last thing she would want and need is someone she loves forcing her to do things that already make her anxious." Felix begs the man beside him, "Just give her time."

Hyunjin huffs, shaking away his friend's hand that was situated on his shoulder. He thought he could understand and help his partner, but he never did. She wasn't in a good place and so was he, but why is he handling things better than her? He thought

Hyunjin faked out an accepting response before standing up from the practice room floor. He knew if he pushed it even further, he'd only get a mouthful from Felix.

He sighed, "Thank you for the advice Lix, I'll keep that in mind." He said, pulling up his hoodie as he got his practice bag from the bench and walked away.

Felix' eyebrows furrowed, not really liking the response his best friend's boyfriend gave him. Before he could even say anything again to him, Hyunjin was ready out of the practice room, leaving Felix agitated and worried.

When Hyunjin got back to his apartment, he plopped himself on his bed, shoving his bag to the other side of the room in the process.

He was annoyed and irritated, he felt like he's responsible if y/n didn't do anything to fix herself. Both of his hands found their way to his face, rubbing against it.

With a heavy sigh, he looked at his phone; deciding whether or not to message her.

'Fuck it.' He thought as he starts typing, ignoring all of what Felix said earlier during the day.

August

Mid-August "y/n, I'm so sorry you had to hear that. I only heard parts of it from Jisung." Chan says, his voice slightly panicking. He never really knew the whole gist of what happened to his friend and her boyfriend.

The man stood there, guilt written on his face as he held his friend who was starting to tremble. Her shaky hands were trying to pull her phone from her pocket and make a call to a familiar contact.Chan immediately took her phone away from her. Putting it in his back pocket as he held her sobbing form.

Jisung and Chan held back Felix from pouncing on Hyunjin while the latter was already on the ground, being helped up by Minho and Seungmin.

To say that Hyunjin and the others were terrified was an understatement.

No one really saw Felix mad or angry. They thought that the man couldn't even hurt a fly even when he needed to. Oh boy, were they wrong.

"If I hear you say shit about y/n again, I swear to god Hwang. I'll make you forget why you're in this university and I'll make you forget that I was even your friend in the first place." Felix said, trying to shrug off the two men holding him.

Hyunjin didn't want to lose one of his closest friends, but he really did want to explain his side.

"But Jihun said-"

"Oh fuck off with what Jihun said. You'll really believe that asshole over y/n? He always treated her like shit when she comes over. I already feel like shit as it is because I didn't do anything to protect her. I can't let you just walk over this." Felix voice broke as he finally got Chan and Jisung away from him. Tears starting to well up on the man's face.

Their friends that surrounded the both of them felt uneasy. They never saw Felix cry like this (except for Chan). Hyunjin immediately felt guilt as he looked at the latter's face.

In that moment, he realized that he really fucked up.
