where did you get permission to be yourself so boldly

because i want to obtain similar privileges

i desire to be unapologetically me

to unlearn the rule stating i must apologize for everything

at times even for breathing

i want to strut confidently with my head held high

be stationary against the current calling for conformity

but time and time again

i am sucked under, battered and left a wreck upon the seabed

teach me your waterproof ways which

allow you to nonchalantly stroll through hurricanes

and not stop for a moment to join in the agony of the sky

i want to own this skin, this hair, this body, this mass of atoms

not have to sell it to the lowest bidder

due to doubts that a higher cost would be entertained

Calling Slytherins sarcastic, edgy people who are always pissed off is all fun and games until you realize when those jokes are all you say about Slytherins or about being Slytherin is exactly what reinforces the stupid stereotypes

So i am a slytherin.. but i dont quite fit the stereotype? I am really not ambitious, at least not academically. Also I am pretty shy and dont have a lot of self confidence..

You inspired that post Nonnie. My point in making it is this: 

There is no rulebook to being a Slytherin, Nonnie. Stereotypes often do more harm than good. 

Not all of us are going to want the same things, have the same goals, or the same amount of drive for things.

You don’t have to be outgoing. You don’t have to crave attention to be a Slytherin. If you would like a canon Slytherin example, consider Theodore Nott. Largely considered by the fandom, the shyest of the Slytherins. 

As for the self confidence. You’re not alone in that, Nonnie. I struggle with it too. But we have to try.
