im not the op but yeah!! from what i can tell based off of this post at least some of the japanese audience(at least, on twitter) seems to agree it's romantic
here's some examples:
So I said I was going to explain so hear me out. I was looking at this twitter thread and realized something, guys, this is a queer ending.
Do you all remember Korrasami? This is that ending! Korrasami wasn't explicitly canon til the end, and even then, that scene had to still be confirmed romantic afterward. Yes, looking lovingly at another while entering another realm is romantic, but it's not a kiss, it's not a confession, and while so many saw it without confirmation, it could so easily be shoved aside as platonic.
I've been racking my brain trying to figure out how this seemingly generic ending made Bones handle the anime adaptation differently. We can think about alternative endings, about phrasing but maybe it just has to do with that final scene. Horikoshi didn't need to have Katsuki reaching out his hand the parell at the end was towards Izuku receiving his power. Didn't need to emphasize Katsuki's involvement with the project, but he did. He did all this. And Bones knew they couldn't shy away from what even the Japanese fanbase has deemed a marriage proposal. They knew they had to emphasize Katsuki's importance, and haven't you noticed how much more they have done so. Korrasami's cannon moments aren't filled with blushes but the closeness of their relationship. Queer ships, especially before them, had their moments in the in-between in looking at the analysis we make. Call it cope, call it whatever, but I refuse to believe these moments don't mean something. He could have so easily ended the series with All Might giving him the suit. Katsuki didn't have to reach out in the end. If he wanted an opening ending he could have had the whole of 1A there reaching out for him or even just skip to the ending scene with everyone. He could have had Ochako, but no, he emphasized Katsuki. You realize that if Ochako had reached out and told him to go with her, there would be no denying the implication there. There are a couple of things I wished from the ending, but we ultimately won. If Korrasami was never confirmed that ending scene would still be pretty romantic. If all a ship needs to be canon and make sense within the story is the author's approval, I think that ship is at least heavily implied.
what did izuku think of katsuki’s hero name? where did “kacchan bakugou” come from? does izuku get flashbacks to katsuki’s death like he did when katsuki got stabbed? how does katsuki process his own death? why did it take eight goddamn years to get izuku that support gear? where’s best jeanist? where’s edgeshot? why was all for one’s doctor also izuku’s pediatrician? what does the support item do? why should they have to pay for it anyways? what does all might vs afo have to do with it? what about “control your heart”? did touya die? why melissa but no rody, katsuma, or mahoro? is anyone traumatized? why does no one care about izuku? why did izuku become a teacher?

not to mention some... unaddressed stuff. are we just not gonna talk about bakugo seeing a vestige or was that just symbolism? what about izukus dad?
on the other hand tho.. kinda appreciate the open ending for shipping cuz that would've caused way too much discourse. plus i do appreciate the conclusion to many side characters and all
but like..
hopefully the "big announcement" on august 5th is about sequels cuz otherwise im gonna throw up aughhhh
I'm just gonnna say it since the manga is almost over. If bakudeku isn't canon by the end of the series, I am begging all of you guys to do one thing.

Do not, under ANY circumstance, try to frame it as Horikoshi queerbaiting or intentionally being homophobic.
Would it be a more satisfying payoff to their character arcs? Yes.
Is the currently foreshadowed boy-meet-girl lazy romance one of the weakest parts of MHA's writing? Yes.
But you cannot assume that Hori has genuinely considered bkdk in a romantic context, or that Jump would even allow it. There's a lot built for an intimate relationship between Bakugou and Deku but unless Hori says that's where the story is going and then backs out that does not count as queerbaiting.
If the manga ends and the entire fandom devolves into just that argument, I will not forgive you guys. I'm just asking you guys to use just a fraction of the brain power you apply to bakudeku meta posts to this possibility.

Ahmed should check his blood sugar levels 3 to 5 times daily, but due to the unavailability of test strips, we only test him when absolutely necessary, which happens about once a week.

🧡💚 Introducing the Lightning and Thunder BKDK Fan Project. With the end of the manga coming to a close soon, I want to create a project that brings together all the artists in the BKDK community to celebrate BKDK and how far they’ve come. The goal is to get this out in time for BKDK day which is August 9th.
This will be a music video esque project that will showcase BKDK’s entire journey throughout the story. Each artist will be assigned a section of the song/lyric and create one artwork featuring the boys based on it. Since we are dedicating this to BKDK’s journey in the manga, the content will be based on canon material but artists are of course free to take creative liberty how they see fit. The end video will be edited together with everyone’s artwork in a lyrical montage featuring everyone’s art!
