it actually is really insane that naked bodies are so legislated in our country that in most places you could be charged or at least fined for swimming naked. It’s weird to think how many people have never been naked outside of their own home, or outside of their own bedrooms or bathrooms. When I think about the fact that I can’t walk to a nearby river, that formed natural in this earth, take my clothes and swim in the water with my animal body that came from the same thing as the river, no more inherently indecent or threatening than a deer or a stone, it makes me feel claustrophobic. 
it’s genuinely wild how hawaii’s independence isn’t like, a huge and widely recognized issue. that’s one of the US’s biggest and most glaringly memorable crimes and it just continues on and on instead of being righted in any way. like holy shit how is hawaii still a state. it’s downright fucked that people just casually live there and visit there to this day in 2024 knowing full well that, at the very least, it was a sovereign nation that the US conquered by force in the late 1950’s. there are people alive now who are older than hawaii’s statehood. idk it’s one of those things that just baffles me. stop going to hawaii, leave them alone

⊹・ starting from december 21, tumblr is expanding its list of banned tags on its ios apps to comply with app store’s (new?) guidelines. ⊹・no official list has been released detailing all the tags that have been banned. however, @bannedtags has compiled a list of known banned tags, which is linked at the bottom of this post.
⊹・sadly in the mix are tags such as #mine, #my stuff, and #mine*, all which are commonly used among the editing community, as well as some tracking tags such as #bbelcher. ⊹・for content creators who use such tags, this means that their posts (and any reblogs of such posts) will be unavailable to be viewed on the ios apps from anyone’s dashboards. ⊹・however, the posts are still viewable if you go to one’s blog directly or if post notifications for a certain blog is turned on.
⊹・if you are a content creator using one of these newly banned tags, rather than using mass post editor to delete & add tags, tag replacer is a far easier tool to use. ⊹・a popular tag used in the editing community that has not been affected (yet) is #*, which you may consider using instead.

in the latest cyber-news: the internet archive has lost their case against 4 major publishing houses (verge article). they’re going to appeal, but this is still a bad outcome. the fate of the internet is currently hanging in the balance because 4 multibillionare publishing groups missed out on like $15 of combined revenue during the pandemic because of the archive’s online library service. it’s so fucking stupid.
for those who don’t know what the internet archive is, it’s a virtual library full of media. books, magazines, recordings, visuals, flash games, websites - a lot of these things either don’t exist anymore or cannot be found & bought. heard of the wayback machine? that’s part of the internet archive. it is the most important website to exist, and i don’t say that lightly. if the internet archive goes down, the cultural loss will be immeasurable.
so how can you help?
boycott the publishing companies involved in this. they’re absolute ghouls, frankly, and don’t deserve a penny. the companies involved are harpercollins (imprints), wiley (imprints), penguin random house llc (imprints), and hachette book group (imprints). make sure the websites are set to your location as it may differ worldwide.
learn to torrent. download a torrent client (i recommend transmission), a vpn (i recommend protonvpn - sign up and choose the area that’s closest to your continent/country), and hit up /r/piracy on reddit for websites. with torrenting, you can get (almost) any media you want for free in high quality, with add-ons such as subtitles, and with no risks of loss. i would also recommend getting into the habit of watching stuff online for free. the less you can pay to a giant corporation, the better.
get into the habit of downloading and archiving materials. find a TB external hard drive, ideally the higher the better. it’ll probably cost around $60 for 1TB and continue to go up, but they’re so so useful. if you can’t afford a drive, look for any GB harddrives or memory sticks you have lying around and just fill them up. videos, pdfs, magazines, songs, movies, games - anything you can rip and download and fit on there, do it, because nothing is permanent.
donate to the internet archive. this is the most important option on the list. the IA relies entirely on funding, and it’s going to need more to fight this case. whatever you can donate, do it. i promise it’s helpful.

Update, Luckily I was able to find chats of them in a server they were in, this was a while ago and I was honestly too scared to speak out about it because they were threatening to leak my at the time school project, but since its coming out now, heres some discord dms.. (For context, I was having issues with a rig of a WD pair of legs, and I wanted it to look like animate legs, at the time they had animate's model so, this happend.) Note, I never used or redistributed his model. Their discord username is electric_ember
Theres more to this targeted towards me, but that isnt the point of this, this person is someone who actively betrayed animate, and shared this model without hesitation to me, and other people in another discord, though I couldnt find those chats sadly.. Anyways, I hope animate is okay, He's super talented and doesnt deserve any of this, and hope assholes like this guy who I just exposed gets what they deserve..
Yeah, Animate doesn’t deserve this. But his account is back on Twitter, and I assume he’s alright now. We just have to support him, and also spread news about the dude who did steal his models.

ok but legitimately i think the reason why kids aren’t taking internet safety seriously is because the people who are telling us not to put our personal information out seem so out of touch. no one acknowledges the possibility of meeting very real teenaged friends online, they always say that everyone you meet is a 40 year old white man in disguise. because they aren’t acknowledging things we know are true, it becomes a lot easier to dismiss the rest of what they’re saying as well. internet safety lessons absolutely must keep up with the times and acknowledge the internet’s capacity for good if you want kids to take to heart warnings about its capacity for bad.
