You initially wanted a stress-reliever from college so your friend dragged you to a dog café during the break and while you did release stress, it wasn’t in the way that you expected it to be.

“F/n.. This was your idea of stress-relieving? Dogs?” You looked at your best friend in disbelief. “Hey! Dog cafes are actually really therapeutic... I think? Ah, whatever, they are really cute anyways!” She said, sulking.

The two of you had made plans to go to the dog café located in the bustling city, away from the rural countryside. In her very strong opinion, this was the perfect plan ever. Who didn’t like dogs? “Well, I just said it because I’m more of a cat person but go off, I guess..” You said, teasing her a little.

Just as you said that, you guys were turning the corner, leading right up to the dog café. As soon as your best friend caught sight of the flowing banners at the front gates, she pulled you by your elbow, dragging you along with her which almost made you trip over your own feet. You could tell she was really excited to meet the dogs so you weren’t mad at her.

The chiming of the bell alerted the staff dispersed around the cafe as the two of you strolled in. “Welcome to Paws and Claws, you can put your shoes in here and wear the slippers provided, please also wash your hands at the sink first before touching the dogs,” A kind voice appeared in front of you as you took off your shoes.

You assumed it was most likely a staff but when you finally lifted your head up to bow slightly, you came face to face with the most attractive man you had ever seen. He had a high nose bridge to die for, paired with pink, pouty lips. His hair fell perfectly above his eyes.

You didn’t realise you had been staring at the poor guy when your friend pinched your waist sneakily, earning a small wince from you, snapping you out of your reverie. “Did you wash your hands yet?” She said, laughing nervously. The guy was just standing by the door, looking away with his ears tinted a little red. “Oh! Um, yea, I’ll wash it right now, sorry,” You hastily pulled up your sleeves and washed your hands. What if he thought you were a creep now? Good job, Y/n! You couldn’t help but mentally grimace at your own actions.

There wasn’t much else exchanged between the three of you as he led you to a table. As soon as you step past the small gate to ensure the dogs don’t go past the boundaries, dogs come swarming near your feet.

A pembroke welsh corgi that was trying to jump up at you caught your attention in particular. It had short stubby legs which was the most adorable thing you swore you have ever seen. It had its tongue sticking out and its tail was wagging furiously at you, asking you to pet it. You let out a little ‘aw!’ seeing how all the dogs seemed to crave you and your best friend's attention. You couldn’t see how the guy from earlier was looking at you intently with a small smile creeping up his face.

Once you got settled down in your seats, somewhere in the middle of the café, you noticed that there weren’t many people here, considering the fact that your break period was different from those working and other people who were still studying. “Y/n, I see you got the feels for dog café boy, huh? He’s cute, perfect for you!” She said, wiggling her eyebrows. “Shut up! I don’t, okay, i-it’s just I got caught off-guard,” You retorted, flipping through the little menu. “...But, I do agree, he’s pretty cute.” Your best friend let out a laugh at that as she nudged you with her shoulder. “C’mon, let’s go order,” You only nodded, patting the same corgi that had taken a seat next to you.

Approaching the counter, it was the same guy from before, as if the universe was giving you another chance to actually say things to him instead of staring like a creep.. Anyways! You ordered an iced hazelnut latte along with a tiramisu cake. The café apparently also allows you to buy treats for the dogs so the two of you bought a few packs to pamper them a little. As you gave the money to the guy - which you learnt was named Younghoon - your fingers brushed against each other and you wanted to scream but you did so internally. It felt electrifying and it was the feeling that left you wanting more. However, you managed to keep your composure and he said that he would be coming over to your table to serve your orders.

Nothing else eventful happened during your little date with your best friend aside from the longing glances you shared with Younghoon, maybe even stares at this point. Younghoon was absolutely smitten by your smile, it had his heart leaping, every time you let out a boisterous laugh, it felt like someone was stomping on his heart.

“Dude, stop staring at her like that, everyone can tell that you’re head over heels for her,” His co-worker, Changmin, playfully teased him, causing Younghoon to clear his throat and switch his focus on cleaning the dog toys scattered around the floor.

It has been about a week since you visited the dog café with your best friend. Thinking about Younghoon, it had you pacing about in your apartment. Should you go back to the café? Talk to him more? Or would you completely make a fool out of yourself? Knowing your luck, it would probably be the latter but for some reason, your legs were already bringing you towards the said café. You couldn’t back out now..

You did whatever was necessary before entering the actual café with dogs without being told to do so and you saw who you came here for. You swore you could hear angels singing down to you and that there was an animated light glowing down on him. You almost felt your knees give out. Could someone be that handsome? Well, there was a living example just a few metres away from you.

Younghoon was tending to the same welsh corgi that was jumping at you earlier that week. He cradled it in his arms and it seemed like it was having the time of its life. Yet, when it heard the door open, its eyes shot open and came rushing to you, tongue hanging out of its mouth. “Hello, buddy!!” You exclaimed, bending down to pet it by the head.

“Gyeong-ah, come back!” Younghoon was absolutely startled when the dog, who you know now as Gyeong, jumped out his grasp but he didn’t expect to come face to face with you. He honestly had been waiting for you to come back and thought that he lost his chance of getting to know you when you didn’t. “Oh, uh, hi,” He said sheepishly, rubbing the back of his nape.

“Hey,” You muttered softly under your breath, looking up at him. “R-right, here’s your seat!” He guided you to a seat closer to the counter this time. “Do you just want the same thing as you got last time?” His question made you realize something. Does that mean he remembers your order? You realized you left him hanging so you quickly replied. “Y-yea! Just without the cake slice, please, thank you.”

When he left you alone at your table your friend texted you, ‘y/n.. i can see you on my snapchat maps, what are you doing at the dog café???’ You know you were done for, the way you die is by her endless teasing for you being extremely infatuated with Younghoon. You simply sent her a sticker which showed a character running out a door. ‘you don’t even like dogs that much!!’ Just as fast as you received that text, she was typing another one. ‘i see where this is going.. you’re so sneaky, i’ll leave you to your little date ehehe’

You were startled by a tall glass sliding on to your table towards you along with a slice of red velvet cheesecake. “Sorry, I didn’t mean to scare you! Here, it’s on the house for today,” Younghoon said, nodding towards the treats he left on your table. “Oh! Um, thank you!” You were taken aback by his kind gesture, she could’ve bought it but he was being courteous.

You thought that Younghoon would’ve gone to resume his work but he remained standing there, gazing adoringly at Gyeong who had settled himself beside you. “I like her too, Gyeong,” He smiled, whispering into the dog’s ears. You obviously hadn’t heard him since you had occupied yourself with the cheesecake that was currently melting in your mouth. Younghoon had returned to his station but he couldn’t help himself from glancing at you every few minutes. You looked so cute with the cake stuffed in your cheeks.

In no time, you had finished your cake and you approached the counter, “Thanks again for the cake, I really appreciate it,” You smiled before waving at him, exiting the place.

Younghoon was quite literally beaming from ear to ear but he remembered something.. He completely forgot to ask you your name! He sighed, facepalming at his forgetfulness before resuming his duties.

By now, you were a regular customer at the dog café. Initially, you did just go there to stare at your eye candy for a few more minutes but as time went by, you found yourself getting attached to Gyeong. He made it a thing for him to sit right in your lap, demanding belly rubs. Were you a dog person now? Mmm.. maybe?

That aside, you were only left with five days of break till you had to return to college so you knew you wouldn’t be coming here any time soon. Once college resumed. You had told your best friend about every single thing that had been happening between you guys and she was sure that he has feelings for you but when that actually happens, everyone but you yourself thinks so. You didn’t want to end up getting rejected but everything was worth a try, right? You didn’t want the curiosity to constantly eat you up from the inside so today was the day.

A box of 6 macarons swayed from side to side as you nervously walked to the entrance of the café. “Oh, hey Y/n, back again?” Changmin asked. You visited enough times to the point where Younghoon’s friend/coworker knew you. “Yea.. Is Younghoon in today? I have something to give him,” You asked, holding up the paper bag. He nodded in confirmation and pointed at where Younghoon was, who was currently wiping the tables.

“Younghoon! Hi,” You waved at him as Gyeong immediately rushed to your feet. His high-pitched barks reached your ears just as you stepped foot in the pen area. “Do you have a minute?”

“Yea, I’ll be having my break soon, take a seat first! I’ll bring your usual along later,” He shot you his signature warm smile, which could’ve stopped your heart. The nerves were starting to kick in and your palms were getting sweaty as you realised what you were about to do. All of a sudden, you hear soft whimpers from your right side and there, Gyeong sat up, waiting for you to carry him. “Come here, buddy!” You said lovingly, cuddling him in your warmth.

“I see that Gyeong has taken quite a liking towards you just like I do,” Younghoon’s voice surprised you as he came strolling over to you, an iced hazelnut latte in hand. “Thank you,” You grabbed the drink from him, “Wait, what?” His words began to process in your head after a little glitch. “I like you, Y/n. I have ever since you first stepped into this place even though you stared at me the moment we met,” He joked.

“Well, sorry, you’re quite pleasant to the eyes. Can’t believe you beat me to it,” Instead of being flustered, you returned the same energy back. It was him that turned red at your sentence, “So.. you like me too?” You could see the hope glimmering in his eyes. “Yes, Younghoon! I do!” You giggled at his cuteness, what did you do in your past life?

“...Is this a suitable time to say.. It was im-paws-ible not to fall in love with you?” Younghoon smirked at you as you stared at him in disbelief, the laughter not stopping, “Did you just make a pun out of paws? You’re such a dork, here, eat these, I got them for you,”

While the two lovebirds were having their little moment, Changmin watched them from behind the cash register, “Pft, Younghoon? Dog lover? More like Y/n lover.”
