Golden rays from the 8 o’clock sun filtered into the classroom and Eric’s gaze landed on your sleeping figure sprawled over the desk. “Ya.” He cleared his throat because his voice sounded shaky and leaned towards you, “Son Jiyoung. Mr Lee is going to come in soon.” He watched as you cracked an eye open, “Mhm. You look like you could get some more sleep.” He froze in his seat as your finger appeared from his sweater (paws, Eric added mentally in his head) and brushed away the bangs that were flopping down in front. His heart fluttered when you let out a small yawn before nuzzling your nose into his jacket, “Ah~ It’s nice to stay in and sleep.” Eric shook his head, “I had my rest yesterday.” 

At this moment he had wanted to scream all the happy things that he was thinking, like “OMG bless her cute little nose scrunch!” and “AH! She practically screams adorable. ADORABLE!”. Eric picked up his pen, giggling inwardly at how close you are. Randomly doodling on his worksheet, Sunwoo kicked him from behind, “Stop drawing hearts all around the quadratic equations. It makes me wanna puke.”

“Son Youngjae! Kim Sunwoo! Stand at the back of the class!”

“This is what you get for being such a lovesick boy.”

“Hyung. Help me with this literature homework.” Eric looked up at Younghoon. “Eric-ah, why don’t you ask her?” He jutted out his chin at the approaching figure behind Eric. “Hi sunbae, hi Youngjae.” Younghoon raised an eyebrow at the name “Youngjae” but Eric shoved him hard. “Hey Jiyoung. You can sit here.” Eric patted the empty spot next to him and when you gave him a small smile as you slid into the bench right beside him, butterflies erupted from his stomach. He grabbed his water bottle and drank some water to calm his heart down. Or that was what his irrational mind was thinking.

“Hello? HellO? Yeah, uh Jacob I’m going to get the groceries. Bye, see you.” Younghoon picked up his (upside down) phone and excused himself, “You guys fighting! Going to get that pork belly for dinner.” Younghoon dashed off, swinging his bag onto his shoulders. “So I guess it’s just the two of us isn’t it?” You shot Eric a wry smile and he choked on his water. “Oh no! Are you okay?” You patted his back and he tried to speak, “I’m sorry for spitting water on you!” The next thing you did almost caused him to faint. You laughed at his words before wiping the water off the corner of his lips, “There we go. Now, what can I help you with?”

“You make me act like an idiot every time I am near you.” Eric crossed his arms in front of his chest. “I-I do?” You paused mid-action and Eric was slightly happy at the fact that for once, his sentence made you blush. “Yeah, I don’t know if you’re faking it or you actually didn’t notice, but everyone could tell how head over heels I was for you…” He lowered his voice despite them sitting in the field.

“I...just didn’t think you would be interested in me. I had admired you from the beginning and my feelings for you have grown..” “You know, you caught my eye since the very first day of school when we were in the same class.” That sentence alone got you to blush again, but this time round Eric was elated that you were in fact, interested in him too.

“So what does this make us?”

Seungcheol propped his hands up on the table as he watches you animatedly talking about your day at the childcare centre. He wasn’t really listening, more like staring at you with a silly lop-sided grin on his face.

“You know Seorim, right? The tiny little girl who accidentally broke her front tooth the other day? It’s her birthday today, and it was so sweet of her to offer her piece of cake to me! My heart melted when she sincerely wanted to share the cake with me.” You paused to shove a spoonful of kimchi fried rice into your mouth.

Does she know that when she stuffs food into her mouth, she looks like an adorable hamster?

“Oh! Oh! And this boy...you know Harang? Yeah? And he hid in a bucket and none of the teachers found him! I was so worried sick but turns out he was playing hide and seek, and fell asleep in the bucket! I couldn’t decide whether to laugh or to be anxious for his disappearance. That cheeky boy…” You giggled at the silly memory hours ago as you put your bowl down. 

Does she know that I yearn to hear that from her when I’m feeling down?

“Cheol. Seungcheol. Are you okay? You keep smiling at nothing in particular.” You got up to put the dirty dishes in the sink. Seungcheol snapped out of his trance, “I’ll do the dishes for you.” Seungcheol’s rap lessons were not that packed today, allowing him to prepare dinner for you.

“Really? You’d do it for me? Oh my gosh! You’re the sweetest!” You clung onto him like a koala and he hoisted you up so he was carrying you. “I love hearing your voice. Repeat that one more time.” 

You giggled at his request but obliged, lowering your voice just so that it was only him who could hear it, “You’re the sweetest Cheol. I can’t imagine how lucky I am to have met you.”

“And I love you too. Should we just leave the dishes? I bet Jeonghan would clean it tomorrow.”

“Mhm. I want to shower with you after a long day of work. My neck hurts. “

“Let’s do that then. I’ll give you all the cuddles you need.”

You had finally finished up your revision and you let out a sigh of relief. Beside you, Hwanwoong mouthed, “Are we going?” and you nodded your head. Yawning, you rubbed your eyes and with your free hand you packed up your thick textbooks. You got up and stretch, smiling to yourself at how productive you had been tonight. “Oh wow. It’s already 1 am.” You suppress a yawn so as to not disturb the few students who fell asleep while studying their asses off.

“Thanks for offering to study with me. All of my friends bailed on me at the very last minute.” You hummed, brushing off the stray strands of hair out of your face. “Here, I’ll hold these for you.” He grabbed the multiple notebooks and lecture pads from your hold and you hid your happy smile behind your sweater paw. “Thanks Woong.” The chilling night air caused your hair to stand on end and Hwanwoong beside you sneezed (rather adorably). His newly dyed hair was a striking purple and it suited him.

“Bless you. Also, thanks for walking me back to my dorm.” You two walked in comfortable silence back to the girls' dorm. “Uhm. I have been meaning to ask you a question.” You paused in your tracks to face him. “Do you have a boyfriend?” “Not at the moment.”

“Then, would you like a boyfriend?” You had a vague idea about where this is going. “I’m busy with studies at the moment—” You thought of thousands of excuses but you knew Hwanwoong had your heart from the very first day when he spilled banana milk on you. You liked Hwanwoong. More than a friend. Yet you two hardly spent time together due to different class schedules.

“—Can I be your boyfriend?” “How about a boy-spacing-friend?” You internally screamed at how stupid you sounded. “So you are willing to give me a chance? I...I can’t believe this!” Hwanwoong pumped his fist skyward and pranced around you.

“I’m willing to start as your boy-spacing-friend. I meant. After all we pass by one another along corridors and have lunch together and...”

“I would like that. Hanging out and stuff.”
