i'm pretty sure the moment i truly fell in love with lassiter as a character was when he casually and effortlessly talked himself into the potentiality of shooting a cat. during a conversation with his boss. after she'd called him into her office specifically because he discharges his firearm too often. "i would probably just fire a warning shot to make my point. it's really a field decision, i can't commit to it at this juncture" babygirl disrespectfully and lovingly what the actual fuck is wrong with you.

yall I forgot how much I love Psych. I watched that show obsessively as a kid. It was 24/7. Rewatched it like 10 times and never got board. Made tons of references, noticed all the little details, grew up and appreciated the jokes even more

fascinated by the insanely numerous strings of fate tying shawn and lassie together.

if one of them's somewhere, the other is either already there or not far behind, to lassiter's immense chagrin. shawn's present for and involved in the birth of his child. lassie ends up buying the spencers' home, his daughter destined to grow up in the same room shawn did. hell, before the two of them even met, shawn called in the blue sedan tip that led to lassiter catching the back bay killer — a large point of pride in his career as an officer — and let's not forget henry asking a newbie lassiter to take in shawn for the car theft, the one crime on his permanent record.

but wait, there's more!!! lassie accidentallies himself into befriending shawn's father, and then just when he's finding counseling that works, turns out his shrink is shawn's mother. oops! during the musical, does shawn ever dance or hold a duet with juliet? his girlfriend? no! but he does with lassie! they dance a hate tango!

i view Psych as a show about a man and the varying but equally meaningful relationships he has with three different people. with gus, that's a relationship of choice. they chose to be best friends as kids, and continue to choose each other over and over again. with juliet, that's a relationship of falling. they fell for each other so hard that a romance was inevitable. with lassiter? that's a relationship of fate, honey: something cosmic and unknowable keeps dragging them together, as much as lassiter kicks and screams in protest.

I just think Shawn and Gus are really neat. Two pretty best friends that embody what it means to be ride or die.

Gus needs help covering up his presence at a crime scene? Shawn is right beside him making an even worse mess of it.

Gus is taken hostage during a bank robbery? Shawn has somehow found his way into the bank and gets them out.

Shawn needs a distraction while he’s solving the Yang case? Gus is in the room impersonating Michael Jackson.

Shawn is kidnapped and shot? Gus is joining the search for him. And when he tells Shawn not to jump on the blueberry? Shawn abides and finds another way off the runaway truck.

They’re the blueprint for codependent best friends. They wrote the book on it and will literally follow each other to the ends of the earth.
