It Doesn’t Look Like Poetry

It doesn’t look like poetry

On the surface

You don’t look like poetry on the surface

But down in your soul

Down in your heart

A fox dances with the moon and stars,

While gold and marble statues waltz to the tune of your own heartbeat

This isn’t normal

To have a pink sun under your skin

Or a land of yellow seagrass, black sand, and a purple ocean beneath a misty white sky

But you never were normal,

So why care?

You don’t look like poetry on the surface,

But you skin hides the you that glows a color

That only you can see

It doesn’t look like poetry

But maybe it is

I WANT HER TO LOOK AT ME AND THINK SHIT HES SO PRETTY SOMETHING I CANT BELIEVE

A cosmic being,

Drifting through time

Never in one place,

No name fitting enough to use

Sister, daughter, lover

Strands of crimson hair

Past my chest

Oh I want to sound

Like I do in my dreams,

A voice soft and kind

Oh I want them to look

And say

“Shit, she’s so pretty”

Oh I know,

I know

It may never happen,

And if it does it will be a long long time

But,

Oh I want to be

Free to be me
