Oh my god, I’ve seen this so much recently and it’s killing me. Posts that talk about how extreme shows of emotion don’t happen constantly, how fight scenes should never take more than a minute, how nobody notices the exact color of someone’s eyes the first time they meet. And yes, while true irl, you don’t have to write “realistically” if you don’t want to. Not only is expecting this form of realism stifling to a lot of writing styles and genres, but, um, hello we are making art, people! Art! Where exaggeration and aesthetic are at their best and often greatly add to whatever you’re creating. 

You want your characters to throw themselves to the ground and sob? To leap and clap their hands from joy and excitement? Do it!!!! Fight scenes that take pages and involve the most ridiculous, outlandish weapons, and have the characters twirl and spin and leap and call out witty banter? Fucking go for it, my guy! You want your character to observe “the gorgeous, ever changing, shifting green hues” of their love interest’s eyes the first time they meet? Hell yeah, baby! 

Look, all I’m saying, is that if realism takes away from your writing, if it feels confining and suffocating, then don’t do it! Nothing has to be realistic if you don’t want it to be. Again, we’re talking about art here. Go all out! Be ridiculous and outlandish! Don’t let other’s demand for realism destroy the story you’ve crafted

Hi! You’ve been great with helping others find fics and I’ve spent weeks looking for a fic I read years ago. Would you be able to help me, please? The fic takes place while Sam dates Pete. SG-1 is on a mission to a planet where times goes by a lot faster than on earth. They get stuck on this planet (possibly due to a meteor shower) for what ends up being years bc the Stargate doesn’t work, but it’s only weeks in earth time. Sam and Jack get together and have kids while on this planet. TIA!

from the Asgard just giving up (isn’t this show about hope and never giving up?) and it being the driving force behind the episode, to it being The Last episode of the series but Jack isn’t in it. From how it took Sam 50 years to figure out how to fix it, to the implied Sam/Teal’c relationship (now I want to say that S/T is totally okay, if only Sam wasn’t in a relationship with Jack, and Jack wasn’t Teal’c’s brother, so yeah, no to Sam/Teal’c in this case.) From the Asgard giving all their tech to the Tau’ri (hahaha) and, if I remember correctly, having all of it in one’s ship memory/core/something/whatever, to Daniel insulting Vala and then gleefully having sex with her because oh I guess she feels feelings after all. From the matter converter that doesn’t make sense, to Teal’c not aging despite being older than Bra’tac, and losing 50 years of his life

that’s just not how you honor the entire show. All 10 years of it. As a finale it doesn’t make sense. Even just as an episode it doesn’t make sense

basically yeah, I hate everything about it. There’s not a thing that I like. My hatred for Unending is unending

also, at some point this was how I wanted to fix it: the beginning of the episode happens, and the Odyssey gets destroyed. But there’s one person on the planet who absolutely cannot accept that. His friends, Sam, died, and that’s just unacceptable. So who can actually stop Jack O'Neill from stealing the jumper and travelling back in time? Lbr, no one can. He arrives when the team is chilling by the pond (here’s time travel for ya) and warns them NOT to a) transfer to Area 51, b) go to Atlantis, c) talk to anyone called Vala, d) ask Landry if he wants to be in charge of the SGC, e) but they can offer Mitchell to go through training if he wants to join an SG team. Then future Jack kisses past Sam and disappears. S9-10 are fixed
