The ducks are outside my door. I type this with trembling hands.

The OCs: Maria and Reese

The ship name: idk I'm sure if the story ever sees the light of day, someone can come up with a more clever ship name than I ever could

Desire -- Meg Myers

This one is probably the most on-the-nose song about the situation when the two first meet. Reese wants to eat her, among other, more complex feelings. The angst he suffers is what fuels me.

Running Up That Hill -- Kate Bush

When Reese makes a deal with a certain someone to save Maria's heart, I imagine this song playing in the background. Also maybe a little too obvious of a song choice but stop judging me.

Dancing With the Dead -- Powerwolf

The song that initially inspired the whole thing, and it still works pretty well for the vibe of the final third of the story.

Turning Page -- Sleeping At Last

The moment when Reese realizes that he loves Maria. He's been in love with her for a while, but when he finally understands his own feelings, it's enough to change his entire worldview.

songs and (oc) ships

i shall begin… a tag game! instead of doing actual work! *collective disappointed but wholly unsurprised sighs* yay!

rules: write two to five songs from them that represent your a ship between your ocs (it can be platonic or romantic or a secret third thing). then add a quote from said wip (if possible!) underneath it.

the quote thing was simply because i want to gush over your writing EHE (no pressure if you're not comfortable with it, though!). i’ll go first!! this is ciaran/adelaide (ciaralaide? dwywhistle? i cannot ship name send help) from project GE:

christmas tree farm (old timey version) - taylor swift

this book is set during the winter solstice, and they do celebrate it and make preparations and decorations for it — it’s basically the equivalent of christmas in this world. christmas tree farm just gives all the warm and cosy and christmassy vibes. old timey version because the world in project GE is inspired by the 1840s, and i just personally prefer that version.

Chatter was all about in the streets, and a certain festivity hung in the air — they’d even planted a juvenile pine tree in the middle of the market square. It was bursting at its seams with decorations — strung with tiny sun-lamps, dotted with silvery trinkets and adorned with lost pinecones and leaves of holly and mistletoe. A few handmade ornaments were scattered around the branches, little memories peppered about.

sweet nothing - taylor swift

they’re a very comforting couple — like a warm quilt and the crackle of a fireplace after a long day — and sweet nothing just gives those vibess. just two kids protecting each other from the world <3

Adelaide nodded, almost imperceptibly, and Ciaran reached over to pull her in his embrace. He could feel tears soak his shirt, the quiet, shuddering sobs that rocked her body. He pulled her closer, tighter, as if he could protect her from the world.

ivy - taylor swift

okay i don’t know why but they are just such a taylor swift couple. everything about them is so taylor swift coded. no, adelaide is not cheating on some royal lover she has back home, but their romance is, somewhat, forbidden. i don't know which quote exactly encapsulates it, so here's an iconic moment instead:

“Thank you for being kind,” Adelaide whispered.  Ciaran’s heart fluttered. “Thank you for being there.”

gently tagging (i don’t know some of you… so welcome to my world! it’s wonderful to meet you!): @briannaswords @anulithots @holdmyteaplease @the-chaotic-writer @serendipminiewrites @fire-but-ashes-too @cabbojage @the-stray-storyteller @cascallisto @anniesocsandgeneralstore @everthewip @saintedseraph @anoelleart @mysticstarlightduck @kooperation1101 @fleurtygurl @cosmo-lexies @athenswrites @avoidingcertaindoom @phynewrites @stesierra @valentinerose529 @loopyhoopywrites @aether-wasteland-s @innocenthedgehog @cat-esper @goinggremlin +OPEN TAG!! like seriously if you see this you are legally obliged to do it or i will slip a murderous duck through your window/j

Labour -- Paris Paloma

Been listening to it nonstop for like four days straight. Words cannot describe the feelings it makes me feel, especially after seeing the music video too.

If I ask nicely who will rb this telling me what is the last song u listened to 🥺

I know it’s no longer ‘cool’ to talk about/critique Frozen, but my friend Cait and I were talking about twist villains and how Hans was a bad example, and how he didn’t even need to be a twist villain for it to still work and yeah no I’m still thinking on it.

Because no, really… why did we need Hans to be a twist villain? Why did he have to actually be playing a long con and be all ‘muahaha, actually I don’t love you.’ We already had the threat of the eternal winter, the fracturing relationship between Elsa and Anna, and if you needed another outside force to be the villain, Duke Weselton was right there.

You wouldn’t even need to change much, really.

Instead, have it so Hans and Anna do kiss… and nothing happens. They’re both shocked and upset - not by the implications, those don’t hit them yet, but because they had an idea on how to save her, and it failed. Meanwhile, Duke Weselton is shit-stirring and going after Elsa.

You bring Olaf in at some point, and while he and Hans are trying to keep Anna warm, it comes out that maybe it didn’t work because Anna doesn’t love Hans. And, similarly, Hans doesn’t really love Anna - their ‘true love’ was based on infatuation after knowing each other for less than one night, while they mostly just goofed off and had fun, and neither of them actually know much of anything about the other.

(It wouldn’t just be Anna not knowing anything about Hans, you make it so Hans doesn’t know much about Anna either. Neither of them know each other’s favorite foods or colors or best friends or bad habits.)

Scene keeps going til it comes out that the one Anna really loves now is Kristoff.

And yeah this still raises a problem in that Anna and Kristoff didn’t know each other that long either, but it’s a Disney movie, people get married after three days, whatever.

So now the plan is for both Olaf and Hans to get Anna to Kristoff and protect Elsa from Duke Weselton. Make Weselton the guy about to cut Elsa’s head off.

The movie then proceeds like canon, up to the point where Hans is punched out. Now instead Weselton is publicly exposed for his shit-stirring, it’s declared they will no longer be in a trade relationship with his duchy, and Elsa instead turns to Hans and he’s made Ambassador of Southern Isles. Hans and Anna part on good times, agreeing to be friends, Hans and Kristoff are also friendly with one another, and the takeaway is “Sometimes relationships don’t work out and that’s okay, it’s neither person’s fault.”

And instead of “Don’t marry a man you just met because what if he’s evil?” it’s actually “One great date does not guarantee a great relationship, relationships/love is based on mutual experiences and trust, not a sudden burst of attraction and infatuation.” Which honestly is a much better message for the kids.

…why did Hans need to be the villain?
