Kim Namjoon would have scooped popcorn. He would have manned the games of chance. He would have happily sat on the dunk tank bench for hours. But, no. Eight terror and humiliation filled hours later, he huddled behind the cheap red curtains framing his fair booth. The floor was dusty and uncomfortable, but he pulled his knees up and rested his head there. The fair closed up at eight PM, and it was fifteen minutes ‘til. The final quarter hour of his hometown library’s annual fundraising event. He could almost see the light at the end of the tunnel. He dug his phone out of his hip pocket, scrolling through the ongoing text trail of regret to add a new message to his lament.

He was RM. One of Seoul’s top music producers. He was famous. The hometown boy who’d made it big. So many people would come just to see him.

No one was supposed to know, but in the end, the camera caught him out. Damn Ggukie and his ever-present camera anyway. The shutter had closed a moment too soon. Before Jimin could school his expression. Before Jimin could even look away.

So there it was, for any and all to see. Soft. Unbearably soft. Jimin's eyes, not looking to the camera but cast toward the object of his unrequited affections. The smile on his face stripping him bare. There was no way the others hadn't noticed. No way he hadn't noticed...
