Eight terror and humiliation filled hours later, he huddled behind the cheap red curtains framing his fair booth. The floor was dusty and uncomfortable, but he pulled his knees up and rested his head there. The fair closed up at eight PM, and it was fifteen minutes ‘til. The final quarter hour of his hometown library’s annual fundraising event. He could almost see the light at the end of the tunnel.
