There’s that dork that we all know and love! In all seriousness, I loved this sequence so much.  Highlights exactly what makes Funshine so fantastic…the perfect balance of fun, cool, lovable, and yes, dorky.

They want the DEAF children to listen with their EARS.

Deaf. Hearing.

Did they even think for a millisecond about how stupid that sounds? You show what the student is familiar with and translate it to the language that they are learning. Without a familiar thing to start with, they might as well be staring at the wall. I don't even have a high school diploma yet, and I know that the Deaf can't not hear. These people (presumably) have TEACHING LICENSES and not one person said "Hey, signing is a significant part of Deaf people understanding each other. Maybe we should, ya know, not get rid of that!?"

TL;DR: People are very, very stupid. :)
