the covid situation in India is extremely bad right now. there are 200k+ new cases every single day, there's a SEVERE oxygen shortage in hospitals, and less than two percent of the country is vaccinated. I've had two covid deaths in the building I live in.

our government does not care.

Percabeth is a cool as hell ship. The majority of percabeth fans/stans are really cool, but i wanna talk about the toxic hardcore percabeth stans today.

I’m not talking about people who really like percabeth; those people are cool! I’m talking about the people who will defend percabeth with their life and will literally send death threats to people who don’t ship it.

Death threats may sound extreme, but I’m seriously not joking. Some of these people are so far gone it’s wild. They’ll see somebody shipping perachel or jercy or pipabeth or reynabeth or literally anybody that isn’t percabeth and they will spiral into insanity. They will spam innocent fanpages comments with “EW!” “GROSS!” “DELETE THIS!” and even if they mean it as a joke, it’s really not funny in any way. Fanpages provide content for free, and unless they’re being genuinely problematic, like doing or defending problematic things then there is literally no reason to attack them at all.

So many fanpages have quit the fandom because of the hate they get, and let me say I am not blaming the hate solely on these people, but they are a large proportion of it. 

I’ve noticed this a lot recently in rick’s/readriordan’s comment section, recently on the valentines post but more particularly on the recent perachel post. 

If you don’t like it, literally ignore it? It’s really not that hard? There is no need to spam a comment section with “EW!!!!” because it’s literally just childish; though I don’t think this is really going to hurt rick because at the end of the day, he doesn’t care about his comments.

I’m going to go back on this point from earlier; it crosses a line when it comes to fanpages which are run by innocent people, the majority of who are also teens. If somebody went on a percabeth post and started spamming “EW!!!” there would be hell on, and that’s why it literally never happens, because other people know how to contain themselves and not shit on people literally for having a personal opinion.

And, of course, if somebody is genuinely attacking percabeth for unjust reasons, it’s perfectly fine to debate/argue with them, but it crosses the line at personal attacks and death threats. The same goes for other people attacking percabeth shippers.

Yeah, I’m not really sure how to sum this up, but I’ll try.

There is literally no reason to go out of your way to attack people for having a harmless personal opinion about a piece of fiction. Relax. Different ships can live in harmony. It’s fine. It’s really not that difficult to ignore things if you don’t personally agree with them, thanks for coming to my TED talk and I hope you all have a great day no matter what you ship :)

PSA to my white friends and followers: In the wake of a phenomenally important guilty verdict in the Derek Chauvin Trial, I’d like to remind you all that the fallout of this case will likely mean more police violence against our Black friends and neighbors, not less. Looking at the statistics in the weeks leading up to this verdict shows that this is already the case. Police in this country are angry that society is beginning to hold them accountable for their abusive actions, and they are looking for revenge. So if you see a cop interacting with a BIPOC, DO NOT walk away. Video record if you can (and as long as it doesn’t further jeopardize the safety of the BIPOC involved), but absolutely do not walk away. It is critical that we do our part and look out for people, and make cops think twice about abusing their powers of authority and near-immunity to murder citizens people.
