The only cure to Monday blues was Varsity Blues.
Many people in the office wouldn’t have agreed with the fact but that was definitely not going to stop you from going ahead with your idea of watching parts of famous movies every Monday morning to get rid of the gloomy atmosphere.
Why is everyone so unenthusiastic? You think to yourself as you look around the conference room where Daehwi was serving popcorn packets to everyone. Gleefully clapping your hands, you look over at Jeongguk who was looking at you already for the nod that would indicate him to switch on the movie. Kyulkyung ungracefully jogs to switch off the lights, she was probably the only one who was about half as excited as you, and maybe Jeongguk. The movie starts and you hear everybody groan unanimously.
Apparently, they didn’t like watching Looney Tunes at 9 am on a Monday.
“Hey, let’s all be a little more energetic. You don’t want to start the week off with such a bad atmosphere.” You can practically hear Yeri’s eye roll and sigh at everyone’s lethargic asses. Paying no mind to them, you continue watching the episode and grab a kernel of popcorn from Jeongguk sitting two seats next to you. Daehwi tuts- the poor kid was stuck in between the two of you.
Outside the conference room where the cartoon is still playing, Namjoon enters the office and hangs his coat, looking around in confusion when he sees nobody at their desks.
What?
It was not a holiday and not everybody could have taken the day off on the same day. Their stuff indicated that everybody had arrived at their workplace though.
“Huh..” Namjoon looks around and hears some loud noises coming from the meeting room. It seemed like there was a commotion inside, and he opens the door only to be met with a scene he would give anything to erase permanently from his memory.
You were choking. Jeongguk was hitting your back rather violently- and that was probably half the cause of your violent coughing. Everybody else in the room was either looking at your and Jeongguk’s show or some people- like Soojung- were solving their beloved crossword, not giving a care in the world that their manager was partially dying in the same room as them.
Renjun of sales met Namjoon’s horrified gaze and he gasped, realising that the Vice President of the Northeast Sales was standing at the entrance of the room and witnessing whatever the fuck was happening. “Namjoon!” Renjun squeaked, capturing everyone’s attention at the mention of their senior’s name. Murmurs and shocked noises fill the room as Namjoon slowly realises what was happening- his temper rising by the minute. Everybody except you and Jeongguk seems to realise this and the employees all quickly file out of the room, not once meeting Namjoon’s now stern gaze. It takes a minute for your choking to stop and Jeongguk looks up to see that the room is empty before he sees Namjoon. Standing there, looking like he was going to fire them.
Jeongguk was scared of Namjoon.

[prologue] [ep.1] [ep.3]
“Y/n, I need to go to my dentist appointment.” Jeongguk enters your office without knocking and you sigh at his impolite manner. “For what?” It’s around 1 pm, lunch has just gotten over and everybody is silently working, or that’s what you presume.
Jeongguk clears his throat and visibly hesitates before closing his eyes, murmuring something to himself. “I need to have a crown put in my mouth.” “Oh. that seems painful.” you still haven’t looked up from your work and frown slightly when your black gel pen is nowhere to be found. Moving the stuff, you see Jeongguk bend and pick up the pen that had apparently fallen without your knowledge and quietly thank him before you hear him speak. “I’ll be 3 hours.”
You look up in confusion, it shouldn’t take that long but you brushed your teeth once every two days, so didn’t know anything about all this. “Isn’t that too long?” you question but you’re not very worried either because you knew Jeongguk, and Jeongguk wasn’t one of those people who bunked their work hours.
“It-it’s…It will take time, my dentist is kinda far.” he stutters out and surprisingly, you’re not even suspicious of him. Nodding, you watch as he graphs his coat from the hanger and walks out with a weird look on his face.
You completely miss the way he glances at Yunha before heading out, her gaze meeting his before he sighs and heads out, her triumphant smile not going unnoticed by him.

Jeongguk walks into the parking lot and ducks down behind the bushes, taking out his phone to call Namjoon for a very confidential matter. “Namjoon?” Said man audibly sighs at being called in the middle of a probably very busy day but greets the younger male nonetheless- technically Jeongguk had done nothing wrong. Except maybe agree to your Movie Mondays.
“What’s up Gguk?” Even though Namjoon was a 2-hour ride away from Jeongguk and usually met him once a month, they were quite close, having studied in the same college and having some common friends.
“It’s too sensitive, I can’t talk here. Meet me in that Tommy Hilfiger store you always visit.” Jeongguk is still crouching, purple underwear peeking out from behind and he hears an exasperated groan escape Namjoon’s lips. “No, Jeonggu-” “It’s very important!” Jeongguk cuts him off and looks around for anybody else having come out as well. “What is it?” Namjoon questions and Jeongguk is still worried about someone randomly coming out, so he rushed to speak. “Ugh! Joon, please. This is very important.” A sound between shock and irritation is heard, “I swear Jeongguk if it’s some weird shit you’re making me drive an hour for-” He’s cut off by the younger boy assuring him that it was for a serious reason.
“Alright, meet me there by 2.” Jeongguk nods before he remembers that Namjoon can’t see him and says an ‘Okay’ before cutting the line and getting into his car, letting out a long breath that he hoped would calm his nerves down.

“What the fuck?” you’re usually not supposed to curse at others in the office but right now was definitely an exception, and your shock was perfectly valid. “He what?” You don’t have any words to describe how aghast you were. So Jeongguk had seemingly not had any dentist appointment and had instead gone out to meet Namjoon. And talk to him about you leaving your post so that Jeongguk could become the new regional manager.
You don’t know how this was possible, Jeongguk was one of the most loyal employees of Dunder Mifflin and him betraying you like that was very unexpected. Namjoon is silent on the other side of the line, not having said a word since he informed you about their little meeting. “Well, are you going to give me more details?” you question and he answers no, saying that whatever you needed to know, you knew. Agreeing, you cut the phone and surprisingly, Jeongguk walked in right at that moment. He didn’t look suspicious at all, strutting over to his desk and sitting on his spinning chair, before he spared a glance at you and his cool expression immediately left his face. Slight fear overtook his features and it was understandable, you probably looked like you were going to kill him, which you- no doubt- were. Your stare pierced through the glass and met Jeongguk’s wide doe eyes. He looked quite cautious but looked away instantly and bent his head over his pile of papers that he had to work on.
Getting up from your chair, you silently opened the door of your office and walked over to Jeongguk’s table which was one of the closest to the door. You crack your knuckles menacingly, though you have no intentions of actually beating him up. That would be very bad for your career, and you knew that no matter what your position, Jeongguk’s raw strength was unbeatable.
So, you settle for carrying out the plan you had had very less time to think about.

sorry for the late update! feedback is always welcome
