Attack On Prime Chapter 52 Snippet: Optimus V Megatron
Attack on Prime Chapter 52 Snippet: Optimus v Megatron
Main Story
(So before we get into this, firstly, major spoilers for my fanfic on ao3. Like this is the most recent chapter.
Second. I don’t usually post my chapters on tumblr because my word count has gotten too big that it no longer fits. But this was something I worked really hard on and I would like to share it on tumblr too. So enjoy)

thank you thank you <3333
the way you color bots makes me go HGRHRGHEGGGRHGGGRRR how do you do it
(IM SO SORRY I THOUGHT I ANSWERED THIS ALREADY)
I'm gonna be honest, I have no fucking idea. I sort of just... Pick the shadow color, like the deepest the shadows are gonna go, and then mix it in with the base colors to create different values, like you would with physical paint.
I use overlay/multiply/soft light layers a LOT though, and they do most of the heavy lifting. When I'm finished with the painting itself, it tends to look very flat in terms of values, so I use Multiply to add more depth and Overlay to adjust the color of the shadows. I go in with an actual brush and just paint over the darker parts, and then use a one-color gradient or airbrush to adjust larger parts of the piece.

i can relate. they're very hard to draw

Very quick sketches trying to parse out the bots’ basic shapes. It is important to note that tfp’s shapes are anything but basic
