The Main Problem With HH Criticism Is The Failure To Understand The (perhaps) Deliberate Maturity Contrast
The main problem with HH criticism is the failure to understand the (perhaps) deliberate maturity contrast that this show employs
The themes are grotesquely and overly mature - hell, sex, drugs, death, genocide, while the execution is grotesquely and overly immature - characters act and talk like they are from a kids cartoon, lessons they learn are less mature than SpongeBob and the comedy is dumber than Tom and Jerry
And for some reason people think that it is a flaw somehow? That the comedy of the show is "he said fuck" and not "tumblr sexyman devil said fuck while talking about sex and genocide" THATS HILLARIOUS
It doesn't matter if that is intentional (which I think it is but I digress), it's interesting
It's valuable as art
Maturity is a writing tool, not a writing ideal or goal
Go watch Centaurworld and 12 forever HH hater
But then again, only people who made cringy ocs can understand the inherent comedy of just how OVER DESIGNED everyone is in this show
Husk is literally a "sparkle rainbow dog" oc who was redesigned 30 times over the author's life
You need to relate to it to not cringe I guess

Found this reddit post. This kinda makes me feel better. And it’s something I think about sometimes because I always feel like regardless of how hard I work on something I don’t get anywhere.
