My headcanon is that trailers, campers, sidecars etc. some Transformers have aren’t parts of their actual frames. They’re like favourite backpacks/handbags humans have and always keep around whenever they start another journey/simply go outside. Those things have their own weight, of course, but it’s a well-known weight, and almost a part of you. So a Cybertronian wouldn’t get physically hurt if their trailer got destroyed, but he/she would feel awkward and uncomfortable and would want to replace the lost thing with something as close and similar as possible.

there are so many GREAT parts to this post I can't even begin to break it down this implies a whole side economy to cybertron for the design and sale of sidecars/campers/trailers/etc and can you imagine the cut-throat competition in that type of design industry when you get to particular classes or vehicles??? imagine the shoe industry ya'll or the waves and waves of knockoff handbags we see around Earth the little cliques that grow up between bots who prefer sidecars to trailers to etc cross-faction forum threads commiserating the loss of a certain trailer style add to that the chance to worldbuild in new coping mechanisms for anxiety or stress canopy attachments that act as security blankets for bots scared of the sky or who want to feel the extra weight as a way to ground them to reality or the one bot who's the eternally prepared type and has a huge camper of emergency needs for any situation and aaaaah *squees* the human Optimus comment is so lovely!! i ADORE this headcanon accepted like all of it headcanon totally accepted transformers wr headcanons add to queue
