The SS Doric of the White Star Line. Making her debut in 1923, the Doric was the third in a class of four medium-sized passenger-cargo liners built for the IMM, who assigned the Doric to their White Star Line subsidiary. In contrast with her two sister ships, the Doric was constructed as a twin screw steamer, and she was additionally powered by pure steam turbine power was a opposed to the hybrid expansion engine-turbine combination made so famous by Harland & Wolff. Placed on White Star’s Liverpool to Montreal route, the Doric was completed during White Star’s twilight years, with the company beginning to decline when she was just six years old.
