I think (or choose to believe) that if we had gotten to see him live long enough, Askor would have be a morally good character. He would have been someone I could agree with. And you’re right, he’s so interesting! Askor is his own creature, he holds a lot of responsibility within himself even if it’s only about the things he wants.
Listen…Mariel Gullwhacker (and Matthias in the TV show) introduced themselves to the Redwallers through violence as well- violence that was completely understandable. Why not the same for this wolverine? I choose to have faith in Askor. He seems cool.
I am absolutely FASCINATED by Askor from Rakkety Tam. He’s a dangerous cannibal wolverine—but less nuts than Gulo, a better leader, Dramz’s favorite child, surprisingly poetic (wrt his riddle), and, most shockingly, Gulo thinks he would be willing to save Doogy. I’d love to examine motivations behind him stealing the Walking Stone. Was he concerned enough about the kingdom that he couldn’t morally allow Gulo to be king? Was it just to spite Gulo? Did he have enough loyalty to their father that he was upset about Gulo murdering him and that’s where the spite came from? Considering that Askor threatened to eat the first creatures who offered to help him, why does Gulo think that Askor would risk his life to save Doogy? Is he just nuts or is there something to that?
Oh my god oh my god oh my god
Headcanon adopted
Absolutely
so i was thinking…in Cluny’s introduction, BJ writes about rumors surrounding where Cluny came from–speculations that he’s “Portuguese” or “from the jungles far across the wide oceans.” Now, real places like Portugal are clearly no longer included in the Redwall mythos, but the thought persists–what if Cluny came from the Redwall-world equivalent of Brazil? That’s a jungle across the seas with Portuguese influence. This is a long-winded way of saying it would be cool if he were a woolly giant rat (Kunsia tomentosus), which are rather large black rats (well, they’re new world rats/cricetids so like…sort of) from Brazil and Bolivia. The main issue with this hc is that they have relatively short tails, about the same length as the average brown rat’s despite WGRs being larger overall. But I suppose that means Cluny would stand out especially among WGRs, which is good considering his reputation.

he fluffy lmao
Triss: Can you please be serious for five minutes?
Scarum: My record is four, but I think I can do it.
PLEASE read this post it is absolutely fascinating and basically groundbreaking.
“Genetic researchers have recently discovered that female moles have reproductive organs unlike any other mammal. If measured by the standards of other species, there are no fully female moles. Instead, there are males and individuals that would be considered intersex.”
The post contains more than that, but the basic summary is that there are male moles and moles who are sometimes male and sometimes female. Scientifically, this is captivating. As for Redwall, it is equally interesting to think about how mole society might perceive gender. We already know that moles have certain understandings of things and have their own communities even within the Abbey, and this opens up even more possibilities for us as outsiders to think about.
So, uh, apparently this could have been going on in Mossflower and would explain a lot about Diggum and Gurrbowl. Nature is weirder than we give it credit for.
