None of the characters mention it in book but it's made clear that Reedwhisker and Mistystar dying in the same DAY was not at all planned. And i love that detail so much. I feel like it adds such depth to the plan, the mystery through the arc. There was an obvious culprit in splashtail, a surprise villain with curlfeather, accompanying villains who's knowledge and intent as well as direction still aren't fully known with podlight, BUT there was also coincidence.
