ASC Thudner Spoilers // Please lord, god almighty, when she finds out she can't have kits do NOT let it factor into the decision for her to possibly become/stay a medicine cat. So not make her believe "what's the point of being a warrior now?" in any capacity because of her now infertility.
I know the timeline is all messed up (Is she 8 or 9 moons? Or is she 12? I imagine her as 10 max but who knows, not the erins) but i would like Frostpaw to have time to actually decide if she wants to be a warrior or a medicine cat. Hell, i would take her deciding she wants to be both somehow! Or some other option for what a cat could be that she forages herself. Honestly, if anything i think i just so badly don't want her to conform and become a medicine cat because she feels like she has to or it's her only option. She so desperately needs the right and time to choose, and choose well. "She was never meant to be a medicine cat," that was great! The founders themselves had to reach out to Frostpaw to guide her and she had to meditate to strengthen her connection to them, as well as her own mental development to be ready (frankly i kinda hope she doesn't get any omen sense or standard dreams from other random Starclan cats, it makes her and Riverstar feel so much more special and unique). but she already has healing skills as noted by Nightheart so i could accept her if she decided to be one in an "I forge my own destiny and place" but It wasn't her choice to start her training, and her inner dialogue talks like she's accepted that now she has the connection she's just meant to be one, which also isn't her choice!. So i don't feel like she's ready to pick what she wants to do without it feeling like it's not entirely her choice and her choice alone. Let Frostpaw CHOOSE what she wants to be for the love of god please

ASC WIND SPOILERS
None of the characters mention it in book but it's made clear that Reedwhisker and Mistystar dying in the same DAY was not at all planned. And i love that detail so much. I feel like it adds such depth to the plan, the mystery through the arc. There was an obvious culprit in splashtail, a surprise villain with curlfeather, accompanying villains who's knowledge and intent as well as direction still aren't fully known with podlight, BUT there was also coincidence. There was a careful plot, one with risks and careful planning before the book even started with clues laid all over, but not EVERYTHING is a clue. In the BEST way

So we all agree Podlight sucks right? We ALL agree about that? He literally told Frostpaw that basically it was her fault for being manipulated by Curlfeather (her mother). Wtf dude. Professional Victim blamer over here!! Professional asshole alert! Y'know in Thunder I was kinda hoping that Podlight DIDN'T suck ass and he was just manipulated by Splashtail. Nope. He's just straight up a terrible cat. That's great! I love terrible cats I want more of them!

Do not redeem Podlight or Berryheart. They don't deserve it. Oh also don't redeem Gorseclaw or Sneezecloud either.
one of the reasons i find splashtail so interesting as an antagonist is the fact that he’s so so clearly in over his head in a way that none of the other villains are
for the first 3 books i got the sense that he was trying to act like someone he wasn’t, and with the reveal in thunder it all finally clicked into place
splashtail’s trying to mimic curlfeather. but he can’t.
he’s stolen her plan. but at every turn, something finds a way to go wrong. he’s smart, yes, and able to adapt well, but curlfeather had a much clearer scheme to become leader (and would’ve succeeded if not for his betrayal)
he tries to manipulate frostpaw by being nice, dependable, someone she can trust. and it works to an extent, yes, frostpaw does genuinely trust him and listen to his advice. but not the same way she did with curlfeather. and when splashtail starts trying to push her in a certain direction, she pushes back. and his facade cracks. because, on a certain level, frostpaw can tell that the care splashtail pretends to have isn’t genuine. but with curlfeather? it was real. she did genuinely love frostpaw
splashtail is trying so hard to be curlfeather. he wants so badly to be relaxed, calm, and in control like she was. but he can’t be. splashtail is an impulsive teenager with a bad temper. he was never meant to be the one in charge of this plan
and why does splashtail want this? why does he want to be leader? i think curlfeather had a reason. maybe she opposed the code changes, maybe she was just ambitious, but she had a reason
i think splashtail is doing this out of spite. curlfeather told him he was too young, too hot-headed to be leader. and he is determined to prove her wrong by becoming her
i’m very excited to see where this goes.

Frostpaw!! She's definitely one of my favorites and I relate to her so hard 😭
I don't really interact with WC fandom takes that often (cause hoo boy some of them are absolute garbage), but I just want to get this off my chest cause its been bugging me: It really rubs me the wrong way how people call Nightheart "entitled" for changing his name. It is completely valid to change your name for any reason, no ifs and buts about it. you should never be forced to just completely accept all the expectations forced upon you by others, especially if said expectations are actively harming your mental health.
I've even seen some individuals outright refuse to call him by his new name on purpose out of spite for his "entitlement", which feels very terrible when you realize that it sounds frighteningly similar to the reasonings/arguments of irl transphobes (albeit unintentional)
sorry about the rant, but as a trans person and former gifted kid it just really hurts me on a personal level to see these kinds of harmful takes.
