Why did Touka fall in love with Ken? and when?

While we did answer this question already, I’ll try to provide a more in depth response to this question now. I have already done an analysis of Ken’s feelings, so you can think of this as a companion piece.

When Touka first begins interacting with Kaneki, she dislikes him immensely. She had initially tried to help him, thinking he was a ghoul like she was. She offers him an arm of a human man who was sexually harassing her. Understandably, Ken runs away from her screaming after seeing something that awful.

This starts her initial dislike of him – as Touka has always had something of a complex about being a “monstrous” ghoul. She dislikes that she has to kill and eat to survive, but does so because she wants to live despite her conflicting feelings about it. From this point on, she is snarky with him and she both teases and bullies him. She is even more furious when he outright calls her a monster after she attempts to force freed him after his first encounter with Nishiki.
