“Honestly, do you want my real answer or something you’d like to hear..?” It could’ve been rude to those none the wiser, but if there’s one thing Vil had learned from Epel— it’s that some people seek an answer not for satisfaction, but for assurance. 

“Many foolishly assume that Pomefiore is simply all about beauty, an unfathomable pursuit for what’s eye-catching… I’m unamused by such assumptions, to be frank.” He gave you a side glance, checking if you were still listening before resuming.

“The unrelenting efforts of the Beautiful Queen, this dorm I lead thrives on its active progress. I need neither fool’s gold nor useless gems that only serve ornamentally. What I need are fruits that have yet to bear their final ripeness. It just so happens that I’d like to selfishly cultivate you myself… are you content with my answer?”

He saw what you can do even before you can feel it, do you accept it?

“You know, Trey doesn’t have to be a standard. But I guess you’re the only one who truly knows the extent of your abilities…” Forking a piece the Dorm Leader took a humble bite out of the sweet dish. It was as sweet as he expected it to be— and like your prediction it wasn’t as perfect as Trey’s.

“It’s delicious, I’ll give it that. I wouldn’t say it’s terrible either… considering how better it’d be compared to what I would’ve made.” He’s still trying to get used to sprinkling humor every now and then, hearing how it’d keep the dorm members’ morals in check.

“I’d like to share this with the others, would that be alright with you? I do think it’s still something to be proud of in the end, who knows? Maybe you’ll find more willing taste testers to.”

But please, don’t replace him as your primary one.
