The foreground leaves are deep green, and there are light blue and green highlights giving the impression of a sky on the top, as well as reflected on the river. This painting is in the impressionist style, so nothing is crystal clear. The lines are thick, short, and layered with many hues and shades, giving a feeling of depth, shadow, and movement. Although the water seems choppy, the overall scene gives a sense of serenity and peace.
