Deception
Deception
Pairing: Loki & gn!Reader (platonic or romantic, up to you!)
Warnings: none
Word count: 350
Summary: Loki discovers triscuits and is severly disappointed. You and Tony take offense.
a/n: this is literally the dumbest thing i've ever written. no regrets.

“What are those?” Loki asks, sliding into a counter stool next to you, nodding at the bowl in front of you.
“You don’t know what triscuits are?” you ask incredulously, and he shakes his head slowly.
“No. What are they?”
“Just the best food in the entire world,” you deadpan.
“Really?” he asks, his eyes widening.
“I mean, pretty much.”
“Then I must try one,” he says, words trailing off as he leans over to your side of the counter and snatches a cracker from your bowl and pops it into his mouth.
He chews for a moment and then fixes you with a look of utter disappointment.
“You have deceived me greatly,” he says, and you burst out laughing, clutching your stomach.
“Loki, it-” you pause to take a breath, holding up a finger as you double over. “It was an expression.” Your laughs die down to quiet chuckles as he rolls his eyes, and you shake your head affectionately.
“It isn’t an expression, it’s a lie,” he grumbles, and you laugh again, shrugging.
“Look,” you say, shaking your head at him before turning toward the living room and calling out, “Tony!"
He turns around on the couch at the sound of his name, scanning the kitchen before meeting your eyes.
“What’s up, kiddo?”
“Triscuits,” you say, raising your eyebrows in question.
“Better than life itself,” he responds immediately, and you whirl back around to face Loki, grinning like an idiot.
“See? Told you.”
“You Midgardians are so weird.”
“We know,” is all you say before returning to your book. He simply chuckles, shaking his head before trying to discreetly sneak another. You swat his hand away, narrowing your eyes at him.
“What? Why can’t I have another?”
“Only deserving people get triscuits,” Tony calls from the living room, making you giggle.
Loki mumbles something you choose not to hear and flicks you playfully on the back of the head as he makes his way back to his room.

to all the pilots i've loved before {poe dameron} - 4/4
part 4: lovers in a past life
summary: you’re in love with poe dameron. it’s both the most complicated and most simple thing in the galaxy - and it’s all shoved into a shoe-box under your bed, in the form of a thousand love letters. here’s to hoping he never finds them. (series masterlist)
warnings: language
this is a re-upload bc tumblr was being a lil bitch and this wasn't show up in the tags >:(
- jazz

There had been a lot of times where Poe Dameron had wished he could turn back time. The first time was when he was seven years old - there had been an incident with his mother’s X-Wing and he still cringed to this very day whenever he thought about it. Then there had been the time he’d meant to order a glass of pinot grigio, and mispronounced the first word to something much more...inappropriate. All of those things he’d managed to come back from. But this? Well.
The last few days had felt like a weird fucking pipe dream. With you disappearing and then coming back, and the letters. Oh, the letters. That was a whole thing in itself. It had fogged his brain up and completely destroyed his ability to think straight. Poe could barely differentiate yesterday from the day before, or the day before that, or really any day since it had all happened. Which was strange, because this was everything he’d wanted in his whole damn life, but when he saw the look on your face? The way your eyes widened at the revelation he himself was still processing? It felt as though time stood still around him.
Scrap that. Time hadn’t just stood still. It had fallen out of the sky and hit him on the head.
That moment quickly became a competition of who could stay silent the longest. You were standing across the room from him, hands trembling and eyes desperately scanning the page, even though you were more than familiar with the letters. The scrawled words became a little bleary as your eyes filled with tears- fuck. Why were you crying? Was it panic, or embarrassment?
“Where did you find these?” your voice wavered.
“It was an accident, I swear-”
“- Poe,” you cut him off. “Just...answer the fucking question, please. Where did you find these?”
“It was Leia,” Poe said. He could feel his words on the edges of his lips, ready to tumble but not quite there - then he caught your wide, watery eyes, and they began to fall. No filter, no thought, no rationale. Just everything he needed to say.
He took a deep breath and continued.
“Leia sent me to your room to find your back-up plans after you went MIA. I’ll admit I looked a little deeper than I might have any other time because it’s you and...,” he began. “I was desperate, okay? I kinda tore the place apart, because I needed to find those stupid plans. They were the only hope I had at finding you.”
“Poe,” you murmured. “Did you really think I wouldn’t come back?”
“Yeah,” his words sounded a little venomous - not at you, just at the mere thought of what you were proposing. “I’ve lost so much. So much. I felt like my heart had been ripped out when I found out you’d gone from the radar, and then I found the letters and realised that you loved me and it only got worse.”
Your hands flew up to your face in horror. “Worse?!”
“Shit,” he murmured. “Not worse because I don’t want you to love me - I do. I really do. More than anything.”
“You do?”
“I do,” Poe softly smiled. “It got worse because I love you too and I didn’t think about telling you until it might have been too late.”
You took a step forward, gently taking his face in your hands. It was until then - once the dust had settled, and it finally felt like the world around you wasn’t violently spinning - that you realised how tired Poe looked. His brown eyes were etched with nights of lost sleep and shed tears; the five o’clock shadow that formed on the lower half of his chin was a testament to the spiral he’d entered. You could feel it against your tired hands, realising that now probably wasn’t the best time to tell him that he looked really hot with stubble.
“I don’t really know where to go from here,” you admitted, giving him a tearful grin. “Did you read all of them?”
“Every single one,” he admitted. “My favourite one was the 600 word rant on why I’m stupid.”
“Oh dear,” you groaned. “Yeah, that was the one I wrote after you spent that night in the bar flirting with the cute pilot from Corellia.”
“In my defense, he was very hot,” Poe reminded you. “But you know that if I knew then, what I knew now, I would never have done that right?”
“None of that matters now,” you said. “I’ve had far too many near death experiences in the last week to care about menial things like hot pilots.”
“Except this hot pilot, obviously.”
“Obviously,” you grinned back.
Another silence fell over you, but this time, it wasn’t tense - it was full of a comfortable realisation. Like a new discernment that you both knew that this was it now. You had finally been honest with each other after a ridiculously long amount of time spent dancing around the truth. Maybe it hadn’t come out in a way that either of you had expected, or even in a way that either of you wanted, but that all felt like a moot point now. The how and the why and the what didn’t matter - he loved you and you loved him. That was what counted.
Now, you’d had a lot of day-dreams about what your first kiss with Poe might have been like. You’d spent hours and hours pondering on the subject - half of that time had been you internalising the pain of realising that it might never happen. If there was one thing you’d come to learn, it was that nothing in life was ever guaranteed, no matter how much time you frustratedly spent researching manifestation techniques on your datapad.
But when Poe did finally kiss you? When he placed a hand on the back of your neck and pulled you in? No day-dream could ever match that. His lips were completely different to anything you’d ever imagined, but they were also hauntingly familiar at the same time. It felt like coming home after years away - a forgotten feeling, but one you’d also recognise straight away. Maybe you’d been lovers in a past life or something. And hopefully this one, and the next one, and the one after that.
“How many letters were there?” Poe murmured against your lips. “I didn’t count.”
“Twenty seven,” you confessed. “I did count.”
“Okay,” he pulled back for a moment, hands gently resting on your shoulder. “I wrote one when you were away and I’m going to write twenty six more.”
“You don’t have to do that,” you tried to fight back a smile. “They were stupid anyways, really-”
“- you went to all that effort for me,” he reminded you. “And now that we’re together - wait, we’re together right?”
“Kinda feels like it,” you reasoned.
“Okay, cool,” you could tell that he was trying to be casual about it, even though it felt like his heart might explode out his chest. “So, I guess I have 26 letters to write?”
“No, you don’t,” you groaned. “I’m done with letters. Trust me, they’ve caused enough trouble for now.”
“Like...this?”
“Exactly,” you beamed. “So much trouble.”

A Silken Touch (a Loki/long-haired gender-neutral reader fanfic)
Fandom: Avengers/MCU
Genre: Fluff
Rating: G. Maybe PG? A bit of suggestiveness, but nothing graphic, I think.
Summary: When Wanda discovers that no one’s ever played with Loki’s hair before, she enlists your help in making that right. And then of course he has to find a way to repay you.
Warnings/Notes: I think I’ve been working on this 6 pages for like 3 full weeks. I’m always trying to write the soft fluffy warm thing that I want to read before I go to sleep. That’s the aesthetic I’m going for here.
A Silken Touch

It was an unconscious thing, really. Wanda’s hair was lovely: thick and glossy and that beautiful, reddish-chestnut color. As the two of you had grown closer and your boundaries had slipped a bit, you had started reaching out to play with her hair during movie nights. Maybe it was a holdover from your short, forgotten childhood: perhaps you’d often brushed and braided someone else’s hair. You didn’t like spending much time thinking about any of that, though, and so you rarely allowed yourself to question it. There was something peaceful about letting your fingers glide through the soft warmth of her hair. Working through the snags with your fingertips gave you a sense of accomplishment that didn’t come from slicing open an enemy combatant. Sometimes you worked her hair into tiny braids, but mostly that was only so you could then run your fingers along the finished strands and admire the feeling of each perfectly-formed little rope before smoothing it out again.

Can I have Luke Skywalker with a reader who feels lonely?? Extra fluff, please.
Yes, of course!! Thank you for the request :D
Lonely

You yawned, again, for the seventh time. What was wrong?
You hadn't even left bed, on this fine day on Tatooine, where the suns for once were not bearing down heatwaves across the planet. There was a pleasant chill in the air, and you had every reason to just get up.
But that ever present ache, deep in your chest, kept you from moving. What was the use? You didn't really know why, but you wanted to sleep. To be alone.
Because it was all you were used to.
What was the point, of trying to talk to people, attempts that were always tinged with vulnerability? It made you feel annoying, like a nuisance that didn't know any better.
It wasn't even that people didn't respond in turn to you, but you just felt sad. Like what you were looking for was more than these simple conversations, but you didn't have the ability to ask for it.
You knew friendships were a thing that organically grew, and so you couldn't force it, but that didn't help the lonely feeling, further echoed by the fact that you had stopped trying.
You hadn't even left Tatooine in the last month. Your ship was resting in the yard, catching dust with how little you had been using it.
As you pressed your hands against your eyes, rubbing in a tired motion, your father called from outside.
"Y/n!!" He exclaimed, which made you jolt. "Come outside, kiddo!"
------------
You took your time, knowing that your dad was likely to be excited by just new traders, but the last thing you were expecting was Luke.
Luke Skywalker, your best childhood friend, one who had left you behind a year ago, not intentionally. He was a rebel hero, a Jedi, always learning, inevitably succeeding, a million things all at once, but you knew him best as Luke. At least, you thought you did.
As you took a few tentative steps forward, seeing him, his shiny, blonde hair glinting in the sunlight, your mouth quivered. How dare he?
How dare he come back, as if everything was alright, as if you hadn't been left alone for years?
You couldn't make eye contact with him, not just yet, even though you could tell he was smiling. Of course he was. But you were not so open, especially considering how easy it probably was for Luke to just pop by.
He was always the one who found it easier to make friends. He had such a genuine kindness, such a honest capability to listen, to grasp what you meant, to be there for someone, that your anger started dissipating almost instantly. You couldn't hate him, but you were certainly envious of him.
The strange, large ship next to yours, it was clearly a much older model. It honestly looked like it was barely held together.
"Y/n?" Luke asked, softly, cocking his head in the same curious nature as he had as a child.
You instinctively leaned forward, unable to escape your best friend's voice, the warm familiarity in his tone. You finally looked at him, for real this time, seeing how his hair fell across his brows, but that did nothing to stop his bright blue eyes, searching through the sunlight, how they flitted back and forth to look at you. Even his mouth was just slightly agape, as he seemed to be desperately looking at you, until he made up his mind about whatever it was.
He looked... grateful.
To see you. Or maybe it was that you had finally looked at him.
Before you knew what was happening, you had stumbled forward, wrapping your arms tightly around Luke's neck in a strong hug. He fell a bit backwards in surprise, but caught you, hugging you back with the same firm intensity.
"I can't believe you came in that hunk of junk." You sniffled, feeling almost embarrassed that you were already tearing up.
"Well, you know me." He squeezed you. "I can fly anything."
And with that, he let go, strangely making you feel a bit sad for the loss of someone's arms around you.
"Well, isn't this just like old times, eh, Skywalker?" Your dad finally commented from behind you. "I'll leave you two to it. Got a billion of my own questions, but hell, Y/n missed you-"
"Dad!" You crossed your arms, and he raised his arms.
"Sorry, kid, but you know it's true." And he went off to his own little space in the garage, probably choosing to fiddle with whatever garbage was in there.
"Well, for what it's worth: I did miss you, Y/n." Luke spoke earnestly, grabbing your hand, which caused you to turn towards him. "I'm sorry. I never-"
"Stop, stop right there." You swallowed, trying your best to sound normal. “...Let’s talk about this in my room.”
-------------
Luke wasn’t one to question too hard, as curious as he was. Honestly, he had changed a lot, and he could tell you were uncomfortable at the moment.
He followed you, a safe distance behind where he wasn’t likely to bug you. But…
He couldn’t help but wonder. What was wrong?
Was it just him? His very presence put you on guard?
But you had hugged him so tightly, and it made him feel whole again. Maybe you were just incapable of talking deeply about your emotions. That would genuinely make a lot of sense.
You sat on your bed, which was tucked into the window sill of your room. You had grown up here, and Luke knew it basically as well as you did.
So… why did you feel embarrassed?
It was like he had grown up so much. And you were something casually left behind, a small memory of childhood, tucked away in a dusty box somewhere.
The fact that he didn’t seem to think less of you surprised you immensely, and you began to cry. Did you really think so lowly of yourself?
“Y/n-”
“I was just so lonely without you, Luke.” You finally admitted, feeling less anxious as his eyes softened. “And, hearing that you missed me? Even though I was left behind by you?”
You swallowed. “It’s not fair. Here you are, Jedi hero of the rebellion, the golden child of Tatooine. You’re everyone’s pride and joy here. And I…”
“Don’t finish that with ‘am nothing’, Y/n. That’s not true.” He spoke firmly, but not to berate you. If anything he sounded solemn, entirely serious, and you knew you were already not really angry at him.
“You’re incredible. Smart, courageous, and helping run Tosche Station with your dad? That’s not nothing.” He smiled at you. “I don’t want to hear you underrating yourself. You are a strong woman, and I know you’ve made quite a name for yourself through the trades.”
How could you be mad at him now, seeing that he did his best to disprove you? If anything, the situation just made you upset. It was no one’s fault, and yet, your emotions still had the best of you.
“I’m sorry.” You whispered, and he swallowed hesitantly.
“That’s okay. You don’t have anything to be apologetic about.” He sat next to you, on your bed. “I know how it feels, to feel like no one important, to have to work your way up to have a place in the galaxy. The truth is that, importance is just unimportant. It’s arrogant, and it doesn’t serve any purpose. I know that can be hard to hear, especially because you can’t escape that feeling of inadequacy.”
He looked to the side, looking older as he stared out your window, a newfound wisdom written across his expression. He was more mature, and you had never really considered that before.
“I would never dream of telling you your feelings aren’t real. But, the sand is really more golden on the other side.” He said, sounding a little sheepish, as if he was worried you wouldn’t believe him.
You spluttered out in choked laughter, causing Luke to grin. “Sorry, that’s just… such an analogy.”
“I know.” He patted your arm. “Doesn’t make it not true.”
You nodded. “You’re right, Luke. I feel so silly now.”
“That wasn’t my intention.” He shook his head. “I just don’t want you to feel bad, by comparing yourself, but you have other reasons to be. I-”
Luke turned towards you, his eyes forlorn, breathing slightly more heavily.
“I never wanted to leave you behind.” He swallowed, his own eyes turning shiny as he thought about how alone he had been in space. When he had lost his arm, he wondered for a long, long time about you. You would’ve made things easier, less painful, but he felt selfish.
“It was a big responsibility, Y/n. And I couldn’t just bring you into danger like that. Even though you would’ve been so-” He took a deep breath in. “You would’ve been like home for me. Even though I always wanted to adventure away, I did need you, and I really did miss you. Forgive me, please.”
You wrapped your arms around him, feeling his arms tense for a moment before he softly cradled you back.
“You have nothing to be sorry for.” You whispered, echoing his earlier words. “The situation at hand was just too much.”
“Well, I am sorry that you were lonely. I never- I wish I was there for you.” He placed his forehead onto yours. “I will absolutely do my best to never leave you again. I’m here for you now, you know that?”
“Yeah, I do. Likewise for you, Luke.” You hugged him for so long, you were sure his scent had entirely mingled with yours, which would probably give off a false impression to a lot of people, but it didn’t matter anymore to you.
You were soft, and warm, and genuinely very cuddly, and Luke didn't want to let go. It had been a long time since someone had hugged him so firmly, so unconditionally, and he knew it. Then and there, he knew he loved you.
It wasn't the right moment to say so, but he knew that was why you both thought of each other so strongly, why you felt extreme heartache without him. He could feel it in his bones, in the Force itself, that you were home. Just like he said, you were the feeling of returning to the soft dunes of Tatooine, of the binary sunset that he loved so much, and even if he had loved exploring the galaxy, he wished you had been there.
You were an adventure all on your own, and a part of him wondered. Of course, it was too late to change the past, but he knew he could set things right now.
When he looked at you again, he knew his gaze had to be strong, but you returned it with just the same amount of affection. Even with time apart, you were staring at him with a loving expression, and not quite one of a friend.
Luke could not help himself, having thought about you for years, and he leaned in to kiss your forehead, a compromise that let him express himself, as he watched your eyes widen in surprise. You turned adorably red, and he held your face, knowing but also hoping it was the right decision to make.
When you leaned in to kiss him for real, he was astonished, but glad to see that you thought the same. That even if you had missed him for so long, you weren't going to let the chance pass you by. To be with him again, as close as you could be, and to show that yes, you loved him back.
When he pulled you upwards, kissing you harder and practically lifting you towards your bed, you were receptive, actually even more so. And he pulled you closer there, not trying to take advantage of you, but to just finally be as near to you as he had wanted to be for years.
As you snuggled in Luke's arms, falling asleep contentedly as the sky darkened with the night, he whispered sweet ideas, stories almost, that he had always carried in him, about going off together in the Millennium Falcon, having new adventures, just the two of you.
You didn't feel lonely anymore, and you nodded in peace, knowing that everything was right again.
You had him back, and never did you feel so whole again, to know that he had always yearned for you too.
