“Kneel before me. I said... kneel! Is not this simpler? Is this not your natural state? It’s the unspoken truth of humanity that you crave subjugation. The bright lure of freedom diminishes your life’s joy in a mad scramble for power. For identity. You were made to be ruled. In the end, you will always kneel."

Deception

Pairing: Loki & gn!Reader (platonic or romantic, up to you!)

Warnings: none

Word count: 350

Summary: Loki discovers triscuits and is severly disappointed. You and Tony take offense.

a/n: this is literally the dumbest thing i've ever written. no regrets.

Deception

“What are those?” Loki asks, sliding into a counter stool next to you, nodding at the bowl in front of you.

“You don’t know what triscuits are?” you ask incredulously, and he shakes his head slowly.

“No. What are they?”

“Just the best food in the entire world,” you deadpan.

“Really?” he asks, his eyes widening.

“I mean, pretty much.”

“Then I must try one,” he says, words trailing off as he leans over to your side of the counter and snatches a cracker from your bowl and pops it into his mouth.

He chews for a moment and then fixes you with a look of utter disappointment.

“You have deceived me greatly,” he says, and you burst out laughing, clutching your stomach.

“Loki, it-” you pause to take a breath, holding up a finger as you double over. “It was an expression.” Your laughs die down to quiet chuckles as he rolls his eyes, and you shake your head affectionately.

“It isn’t an expression, it’s a lie,” he grumbles, and you laugh again, shrugging.

“Look,” you say, shaking your head at him before turning toward the living room and calling out, “Tony!"

He turns around on the couch at the sound of his name, scanning the kitchen before meeting your eyes.

“What’s up, kiddo?”

“Triscuits,” you say, raising your eyebrows in question.

“Better than life itself,” he responds immediately, and you whirl back around to face Loki, grinning like an idiot.

“See? Told you.”

“You Midgardians are so weird.”

“We know,” is all you say before returning to your book. He simply chuckles, shaking his head before trying to discreetly sneak another. You swat his hand away, narrowing your eyes at him.

“What? Why can’t I have another?”

“Only deserving people get triscuits,” Tony calls from the living room, making you giggle.

Loki mumbles something you choose not to hear and flicks you playfully on the back of the head as he makes his way back to his room.
