People on this website will really mock anti-vaxxers and flat earthers for ignoring scientists and getting their alternative facts from facebook, and then turn around and insist they know more history than historians and more archaeology than archaeologists because they read an unsourced tumblr post once

in my medieval women course we talked abt the misconceptions other majors had about those who study history and our history department one of my classmates was a double english and history major so she got to hear what the english majors were saying abt us and it was like “historians hate lgbt” etc which is just like not true and ppl just thinking they know better than us what our field is and like maybe things are just complicated and projecting our current social understandings onto those of the past who did not see the worl that way is bad practice :| which isn't to say that there was no lgbt there definitely was but its not the same as our current understandings of sex & gender blegh something just on my mind a lot history
