i always assumed Mukuro was meant to be a mother figure to Hiei.

hear me out.

Hiei’s story progression has to do with him learning to love and trust others after what was done to him in the past - by his mother (and the other koorime). When we learn this, we’re introduced to Mukuro - an older woman (who is very much the opposite of the koorime, she’s crude and emotive and hot-blooded) who is presented as a person of power over Hiei, he’s put through a test to prove himself to her (similar to Hiei gaining strength as a child to prove himself to the koorime, his mother specifically, and avenge what was done to him) and then is put into a vat to heal (some kind of liquid where he’s connected to tubes - very womb-like).

Mukuro is the mother he never had. she heals him. she holds him (which his mother was not allowed to do really). she sees value in him (which the koorime did not). she connected herself with Hiei through his necklace, just like his mother had been hoping to connect to her children.

and Hiei brings her a plant as a present. this ties up this particular thread to Hiei’s story. he starts off wanting to kill his mother and all the koorime, but in the end, he finds a new mother who sees his strength and value and he in return is able to show affection towards her (by bringing her the plant) like he never could with his own mother.

Kurahi Quickie To Close Out The Year

Hi, I'm new to Tumblr and I don't understand many things but I like your section, one of my favorite headcanons is "Meeting your friends' family". And I was wondering how you think Yusuke, Kuwabara and Hiei would behave when meeting Kurama's mother (surely at some point she wanted to meet her son's best friends, I partly feel like it would be disastrous haha). Thank for reading my message 💕.

Hi there and welcome! I'm glad that you like my section, and I hope that you enjoy! Also Merry Christmas!

Hi, I'm New To Tumblr And I Don't Understand Many Things But I Like Your Section, One Of My Favorite

I feel that Yusuke would really be on his best behavior here. He would still be his normal self, but a little more toned down.

Expect to see an almost completely different Yusuke regarding manners. “Yes ma’am” is something that Kurama thought he’d never see.

Unfortunately, say if someone showed Kurama’s mom disrespect or did something small, then Yusuke’s normal behavior comes back in. Chances are, said offender did something pretty small.

Out of the three, Kuwabara is the one who behaves the best. However, this doesn't mean that he makes mistakes.

Y’all know that one person who tries too hard? Yeah that would be Kuwabara.

Hey, he’s trying to make a good impression. In the end, Kurama’s mother would understand.

Poor, poor Hiei would be the one who would still act the same. But, just like Yusuke and Kuwabara, he would be on his best behavior too.

Expect him to be the one who calls Kuwabara out on him trying too hard. This causes Kuwabara to break while Hiei remains calm.

Kurama’s mother would like all three of the boys, with Hiei being her favorite. This totally doesn’t cause Hiei to get flustered.

All in all, the meeting goes well, much to Kurama’s relief. This still doesn’t mean that things weren’t chaotic to an extent.

Estoy dibujando KuraHi, es algo difícil hacerlo porque nunca los he dibujado antes. En fin espero que me salgan bien 💕.

(I'm making some drawings, it's kind of difficult to draw KuraHi because it's my first time drawing both of them. I hope it turns out well 💕)

I Knew I Wasn't The Only One Who Had Noticed It

I knew I wasn't the only one who had noticed it 💕

The thing about Kurama and Hiei's relationship in Yu Yu Hakusho live action is that it's subtle, and while their interactions are short, the nuance is there.

In the first scene in which they actually talk with each other in episode 3, Hiei grabbed his sword when he noticed someone coming, but released it again when he realized it's Kurama, who proceeded to ask him about Yukina, which implies that Hiei told him at some point.

This interaction alone is full of meaning. They've known each other for quite some time. They are close enough to the point that the always wary and tight-lipped Hiei let his guard down around Kurama and presumably told him about his sister. And Kurama actually helps him in finding and rescuing Yukina without being asked.

You can tell that they have history together. There is a mutual respect, trust, and understanding there.

Hiei is (understandably) uncomfortable in teaming up with Yusuke and Kuwabara at the beginning that he split up with them as soon as they arrived on the island. But if it's only him and Kurama, I don't think he would choose to split up.

Kurama asked Hiei to give back the blade he stole and chose to wait for him to give it back willingly instead of taking it by force. And Hiei did at the end, after the final fight in episode 5. And it's a little funny that he's actually supposed to give it to Yusuke, who was literally right there, but chose to give it to Kurama instead. Maybe he's too shy around new people and felt more comfortable with Kurama as a go-between.

After a hard fight like that, you usually seek the company of someone close to you, and it's a little interesting how Kurama walked up to Hiei as if to check up on him. And there's some kind of softness and understanding, and maybe a little bit of pride on his face after Hiei gave him back the blade.

Maybe I'm overanalyzing here but I always love the subtleties in Kurama and Hiei's relationship in the anime, and I love it in the live action too.
