earth-326 (pt.3) - wanda maximoff

a/n: sorry this is so short and took so long, but i’ve started school, so updates will be way less frequent

You’d all made it to the shipping yard, and you fought back valiantly. Some began to retreat as you landed before Thor, noticing his dazed state. You could hear him go out on comms, and you were worried. “Thor?” Your eyebrows furrowed as you could feel it.
You began to sweat as you feel under her spell. Your eyes glowed as read as hers, and you took a deep breath, stumbling back. Outside of your mind, Wanda jumped as your wings popped out from your back. The uncoordinated motion rips the back of your shirt open, and she gasps at your beautiful features.
Not your back muscles, but the wings. And she looked into your mind, noticing you were much more frantic. and trying to resist. She began to soothe you with her native tongue. She could see it, Strucker eerily smiling at you as a young child. “You and your pathetic siblings, will never make us proud.”
You began to growl, your vision becoming hotter, the heat beginning to burn. The veins in your neck began to protrude as you burst off of the ground and straight through the top of the ship.

The amount of talking to Tommy hadn’t necessarily been fruitful. When you brought up Wanda, he avoided the subject. Billy loved his mom, he still drew for her, and would tag along while Tommy begged to stay in the Game Room where Yelena and Kate frequented.
Tommy obviously was different, but you couldn’t figure out why. Fortunately, after a week you let it go. Instead you focused on Wanda’s first few minutes without the ventilator. You brought food for the team, but ate upstairs as Wanda was being fed through a straw.
Wanda was enjoying the redo.
Every day Pietro comes to visit. Yesterday, you and Billy came, but strangely no Tommy. She wishes she could ask why, but doesn’t.
It takes her only a few days to move her limbs, and even less to say her first words without coughing. You all seem to be very supportive, and you even stay overnight by yourself just to be with her.
“This is really good.” You mumble. “Can you eat hard stuff?” Wanda chuckles breathily. “Apple sauce isn’t hard food.” She mutters.
“No, I know that, I mean the tacos.”
“You’ve always had strange taste, moya lyubov’” You wanted to argue, but looked at the items on the table with several different tastes. “I do, don’t I?” Wanda giggles, sitting back.
“So you’re retired? We’re retired?” She asks as she settles back. “Yeah. I-I uh…I teach now. I’m a professor at NYU, I teach physics. Which is very ironic considering I break the rules of physics every time I fly, or flew.”
“You don’t fly anymore?”
“No. I-I don’t have a reason to. I promised the boys I’d stop going on missions…after what happened to you of course.” Wanda gulps. “They were horrified when they saw you. I was horrified. I-“ You pause, rubbing your face as tears begin to fall.
“It wasn’t your fault.” She says, remembering these things from this Wanda’s memories. The literal sword being plunged into and ripped from her back. She fell to her death, rolling onto the beach as she recalled.
“You told me you felt like something bad would happen, and I didn’t fucking listen. “One more mission.” my ass.” Wanda sighs, caressing your face with her hand.
“Come on, it’ll be fun to get back in the field, right?” Wanda rolls her eyes, watching you with a smile. “Yeah, maybe for you. But I enjoy retirement, Y/NN.” You scoff, sitting back with an annoyed expression.
“Wanda, I don’t want to go on my own. It’s just one job. One.”
It ended up being much more that that.
You were cloned, and they’d come after you. It got to Wanda first, and hurt her. It destroyed you, and the destruction you’d brought upon afterwards was something she didn’t need to know at all.
Three years of torture because you couldn’t handle being on your own for too long. What a baby. “I was being a child.” A knock from the door pulled you out of your thoughts. You went to stand, but Natasha opened the door.
Your children walked in behind her, and Billy ran to the bed, hugging his mother. Wanda was delighted, but frowned when she noticed Tommy hiding behind his godmother’s leg. “Tommy.” You warned.
The boy wouldn’t move, he wouldn’t look at her. Natasha looked behind her, trying to get the boy off her leg before you got angry like you usually did. “Tommy, say hello to your mother, now.” He still wouldn’t move.
“Thomas!” You yelled, making the boy flinch. You felt a soft but stiff hand on yours, making your your jaw twitch as you stared at your wife. “It’s okay. He’s fine. He doesn’t have to.” Wanda says. Natasha smiles, dragging Tommy with her as she moved towards her friend. “I’m glad you’re okay.”
You scoff, standing up to leave the room. Without regrading either woman, you do leave, slamming the door behind you. “She was very upset. Swore whatever happened to me was her fault, I think what just happened made her a little more upset.” Natasha sighs, simply agreeing with a nod.
“I didn’t mean to make her upset.” A small voice says, making Wanda smile. He still sounded the same. She didn’t know why she would think he’d sound different.
“It’s okay, your mom just needs to be alone.”
<>
Wanda was right about you being upset.
It was a little bit irrational, and Natasha didn’t think Tommy deserved to be iced out due to circumstance. You had let it go, but when you got home, laid them down.
You began to pace, but pause a picture catches your eye. It was you and Wanda taken by Tony, who was in a weird artistic phase. You were somewhere near a lake, she was 4 months pregnant. You remember that weekend like it was yesterday. God, you missed you her so bad.
You were livid that you allowed this to happen, and in turn went downstairs and drank. You swore to Wanda you wouldn’t, but you kept the alcohol hidden in case you needed it.
“I thought you quit.” You jumped, glaring at Natasha. “Jesus Christ, Nat! Why do you do that?”
The redhead shrugs with a smirk. “You need me, Y/NN.” She walks over to you, grabbing the bottle. “Get rest. And maybe don’t be so upset with Tommy tomorrow, he may be a kid, but he has feelings too.”
“Hmm.” You brush past her, not walking to your room upstairs, but over to your living room couch.

“So…you’re blind?” The girl asks softly, eyes curious as she analyzes your cloudy eyes and tired face. “It’s temporary. I had a brother who could do it too, but his didn’t react the way mine does. It burns the inside of my eye.”
Wanda frowns, feeling guilty about how she led you to use it twice. “I’m sorry.” You smirk. “Don’t be. It happens more often than you think. When I get angry, it bursts. I sometimes pass out.” You chuckle. “That’s horrible.”
“It’s more of a blessing than a curse, keeps people from underestimating me.”
<>
Right now, you were furious.
Wanda begs for you to calm down as you pace the room. “They’ve denied my request twice! How the hell am I supposed to keep up with payments in a reduced teacher’s salary?! No, Jane. I can’t-Ten thousand?! Fucking great.” You look over to Wanda, sighing.
“I’ll call you back.” You hang up the phone, sighing. “That was-That was a friend. She said the owner of a private hospital we took you to for maybe two months because they were doing renovations here, they’re trying to charge with interest, which is fucking illegal! I think.” Wanda frowns as tears fall from your eyes, a faint blue hue in them.
“Just calm down.”
“How?! They’re trying to swindle us out of money!” She curled her fingers, and you blinked hard. Shaking your head, you sigh. “I’m sorry. I don’t know why I was so mad.” You didn’t seem to notice her tendrils calming your brain as you sat in a huff.
The action felt natural. It reminded her of WandaVision.
Yes, despite her love for you, she chose Vision. But she made a way. Of course, since Thanos ripped your wings and killed you right in front of her, it was jarring. Reanimating you was definitely regretful.
But the way she could control you felt good, and it seemed like this Wanda did that too. It wasn’t of her own mind to ease yours. “Um…” You couldn’t think, your last few seconds of thought forgotten. “How are you today?” You smile.
“Fine.”
“That’s good.”
“How’s Tommy?”
“I wish I knew.”
“Is he mad at me?” Yes. She already knew the answer, but you became furious again. You were angry that the boy had feelings you couldn’t handle.
He wasn’t there when you were holding Wanda’s bloody body in you arms as you flew away. He didn’t feel your pain. “I don’t know.”
<>
You two didn’t have many arguments, but it was obvious how upset you’d become about Wanda going off by herself. “You can’t just leave us, and make decisions that could get us all hurt!”
“We got the job done.”
“You got shot!”
“You’re the one that wanted to do this mission, Y/N!”
“I get that. And that…” She watches you point directly to her bullet wound. “Is exactly why I regret it!” She groans loudly, not noticing her red tendrils flowing from her fingers,
“JUST STOP!” The outburst caused you to stumble, her magic filling the room. You shook your head, sniffling. Frowning in confusion, you watched your girlfriend who was just as confused and concerned.
“Oh.” You rub your eyes, and stand up straight. “I’m sorry. What were you saying? I don’t-“ She frowns. “What?”
“What were you saying?” Wanda frowned as she saw the tendrils disappear from your eyes. “Nothing. We were talking about relaxing all day, right?” You look around, just as confused. “Yeah. I guess. I don’t remember.”
<>
So it seemed this Wanda was better at manipulation that she was. She was shocked when she got you to calm a few days ago. It had been so effortless.
It’s not like she hadn’t done it in the hex, but it was harder to maintain hundreds of minds at a time, and that was why she’d shut some off to release the weight. Trying to hold Vision was hard enough.
Then she searched this mind for clues of what else you couldn’t remember. That argument she dreamed of. The fact that she left you for Vision was something she erased too. As memories came back, small ones surrounded that big memory.
Erasing your memory when you fought seemed like an addiction for this Wanda. “Wanda.” She was taken out her thoughts by your voice. “They said you can leave if you want, or get extra treatment. I mean they said you were fine, so-” You scratched the back of your neck as you kept your eye on the boys running around the hallway.
“Guys! Slow down, thank you.” They slow down as you look back at your wife. “Yeah, I’ll be fine going home, I can walk now.” She notices your glare as your ear moved towards the sound of your sons running around.
“Hey.” She grabs your hand. “Focus on me.” You take a deep breath, and look over at her. “I’m sorry.” She smiles, cupping your cheeks. “It’s okay.”
<>
The ride back was quiet. Wanda watches everything as you pass through the streets. It was about an hour into the ride, and although you’d let the twins bring their tablets, they fell asleep halfway through.
“The house is little different, a little less decoration. I know you like that stuff, but I haven’t had time.” She looks over at you as you place your foot on the brake at a light. “That’s fine, I don’t really-”
“The house is clean though, I swear. Like...I know I was messy when we moved there, but-”
“Y/N.” You stop breathing hard, and look over at her for a second before continuing to drive. “I’m sorry.” She chuckles.
“You have to stop apologizing.” She spares a glance at the boys. “Obviously, you’ve done a great job. I could care less about decorations.” You look at her with a smile, before turning back to the road.
She seemed different, more in her head. She also seemed calmer. Maybe it was the years in solitude, you’d never know.
<>
You pulled up to the house, and your wife hadn’t lasted too long before falling asleep as well. You parked the car, nervously looking around your car to make sure everything is okay before you wake everyone up.
You were right about no decoration, which Wanda didn’t mind. The house was real like it was on the other Earth and when she created it in her head. When you both walked upstairs to put them down, the room looked the same.
The boys, particularly Billy, said goodnight to their mom. Tommy did say goodnight, but tried to avoid her kiss. Instead of letting him go, she held onto his arm and pulled him close. “I’m sorry.” She whispers. He stares at her for a second, but it’s like the boy sees something in her eyes.
You watched in amazement as he almost smiled for the first time in the last two months. “Night, Mom.” She smiles back wider, letting him walk over to her bed. “I’m so happy you’re back.” Billy beams. “Me too.”
You shut off their light, and closed the door as Wanda beelined towards your room, but you were set on walking downstairs to your study. “Where are you going?” She asks. “Oh, I-I have papers. I let my students do online until you were set, but my boss is urging me to come back or they might find a replacement.” She frowns.
“I’m sorry.” You chuckle.
“Who’s the one apologizing now?” She smirks, and you look around. “Unless... You want to convince me to just do it in the morning?” A smirk finds her lips, and she shakes her head. “I don’t know... It sounds like important work. Plus, do we even know if I’m ready for...that.” Your smile widens, and you place your arms around her waist. “We could test it out.”
“Kinky. Tell me...do your wings still burst out of your back when I blow your mind?” You gasp, backing away. “I can’t believe you remember that, I’m going.” You smile, turning around to walk away.
“I was kidding!” She yells in a whisper. You turn around, softly jogging to her, and picking her up. She bursts out in a low giggle ad you carry her to the room. “I know.”

the heir (pt. 3) - daenerys targaryen

a/n: it’s almost thanksgiving break so i’m posting the rest of the chapters I have to so far, and I might get to the rest of my wips before I go home. (ao3)
i ii iii iv v
Daenerys had become much quieter in the few days leading up to when the Khal was to arrive, and although she was nervous and didn’t want to marry the Khal, she felt like doing it so that the woman she’d grown to care for would be free of her mental torment.
She didn’t blame Carra despite the woman apologizing every chance she could find. She spent every waking moment with her, even now. Carra found her in the dressing room as the slave women rushed. Daenerys watched the bay of Pentos, and she was in silent thought.
She didn’t flinch at Carra’s touch but only looked at her. “What are you thinking?” Other than the obvious, Carra couldn’t read the girl. Daenerys stayed silent with her thoughts, and the taller woman leaned back. “Daenerys!” The girl wakes from her daze, and Carra stands straight as Viserys excitedly walks in.
“Daenerys!” Carra watches as the girl silently walks into the room and walks behind her. “There’s our bride-to-be.” The woman was almost disgusted at how ecstatic the prince seemed. He holds out a lilac gown for his sister. “Look, a gift from Illyrio.” The girl approaches him slowly.
“Touch it.” He smiles. “Go on, feel the fabric.” His gaze catches Carra’s on his sister, but he ignores it. “Isn’t he a gracious host?” Daenerys looks up at him. “We’ve been his guests for over a year, and he has never asked us for anything.”
“Illyrio’s no fool. He knows I won’t forget my friends when I come to my throne.” He explains. He hands the dress to a slave. “You still slouch.” He moves her hair behind her shoulders and notices Carra looking down at the floor from further away. He opens her dress and begins to pull it off her shoulders. “Let them see. You have a woman’s body now.” He tosses it on the floor and stares at her.
“Viserys.” He smirks, looking away from his sister’s body and over at Carra.”May I have a word?” She asks. Daenerys ducks her head, and her brother puts on a smile. “Yes. I’ll be out.” He and Carra stare for a few seconds, and she knows he won’t back down until she leaves, so she does reluctantly.
After a minute, Viserys walks out with a smile and finds Carra with her hands on her belt. “Don’t tell me you’ve become soft and wish to change plans?” She looks over at him with a glare. “When you came here, Carra, I thought the Gods had sent an angel to save us. Give us back the life we deserve. But I never believed you to be a sap.”
“She is a child, my Prince.”
“I don’t care. Daenerys is my way to my throne. That child is our way to glory. Do you wish to murder the man who took our families from us?” She nods. “This is the way. She will please him, and he will give us what we need and more. I will let you drive your sword through the fat man’s heart.” She didn’t argue and looked up at him.
“Now, ease up. It is almost time.”
After Daenerys dresses, they stand at the front, waiting for the Khal. Carra stood off to the side, wanting to watch. “Where is he?” Viserys mumbles. “The Dothraki are not known for their punctuality.” Illyrio answers. It doesn’t take long for the men to arrive on horseback, and Carra looks on.
She spots the Khal ahead of the others, and the Magister goes to greet him in Dothraki tongue. “May I present to you, my honored guests? Viserys of House Targaryen, the third of his name, the rightful king of the Andals and the First Men, and his sister, Daenerys of House Targaryen.” Daenerys moves forward, but Viserys grabs her arm and begins to whisper in her ear.
Carra moves forward beside Daenerys as she watches the Khal. “Come forward, my dear.” Daenerys nervously walks toward the Magister. She reaches the bottom of the steps, and Carra feels Viserys look over at her in confusion.
After a few seconds, Drogo turns around and rides off. Viserys runs down the steps to the Magister. “Where is he going?!” He asks with worry. “The ceremony is over.”
“But he didn’t say anything. Did he like her?”
“Trust me, Your Grace, if he didn’t like her, we’d know.” Viserys watches after them and hums before walking back up the steps. “Come.” He says as he looks at Carra. Daenerys and the Magister trail behind them.
“How well do you know the Khal, Carra?”
“We’ve done battle. I have saved his life, and he has mine. I have the scars to prove it.” Viserys chuckles. “You have plenty of those. But, tell me, will he fail me?”
“He is a man of his word, Your Grace. If anyone fails him, I hope it wouldn’t be you.” Viserys raises an eyebrow and raises his hand, but Carra catches it. “I’m only advising you. You’d be a fool not to repay him.”
“When I rule, you will be highly rewarded.” He smiles darkly and she removes his hand from her grasp. He walks away, and the Magister follows after him, but Daenerys trails behind. Carra looks down at her, and the shorter woman gives her a small smile before walking after the men.
