I have just realized that it was always Aelin and Dorian who have always accepted each other.

When Aelin was still Celaena Sardothien, an assassin, Dorian accepted her. He knew she still had a soul and when everyone was telling him that he shouldn’t associate himself with her, he became her friend and lover at one point.

When Dorian had figured out that he had powers, it was Aelin who was first to accept him. She held no prejudice against him. Aelin kept his secret and when Baba Yellowlegs had admitted to may have selling his secrets, Aelin was preparing herself for a fight with her because that was how much she cared about Dorian and keeping his secret a secret so she actually fought her.

When Dorian had found out about how Celaena was Aelin Galathynius, he wasn’t at all revolted. He was just sad that he wasn’t told. Nonetheless he accepted her. As well as that time that she promised that she’d come back for him. He accepted whatever meaning was behind those words.

Aelin accepted Dorian when he turned dark. She had no idea whatsoever if Dorian was still inside and so she dealt with it the way she knew even if it wasn’t the best way to deal with it. She accepted what had become of Dorian and what she wanted to do was to lift the pain that Dorian was feeling. She didn’t want Dorian to suffer so it was what she thought should have happened which is why we thank Chaol and Nesryn for that, for keeping Aelin from making a huge mistake. Aelin accepted Dorian and did what she thought was right so he would no longer suffer. (Note: What Aelin thinks isn’t always necessarily right. She still makes her mistakes.)

Dorian accepted Aelin even in her Fae form. He didn’t think of her as appalling. He even said that she looked good. He accepted her in that form. He accepted all forms of her, the form that was an assassin, a queen, and fae. He accepted everything about her. He accepted her. All of her.

Aelin accepted Dorian even after what he had done when he was controlled by the Valg Prince.

Dorian and Aelin accept each other no matter what. They will always accept each other and isn’t that what the best relationships are based of? Accepting your partner no matter what their past is and what they’ve done, accepting them even with their flaws and mistakes and especially loving the best things about your partner that makes you accept them even more.

Aelin and Dorian have always accepted each other and will always accept each other and that is what makes Doraelin one of the greatest relationships ever. I cannot imagine them not being canon.
