Living
It's now a lonesome latter night
Far into my elder year
And a shadow enshrouded entity
Draws perilous ever near
And now the dreams are memories
That dance across the spheres
Each wink of brilliant color
Is drowned by flowing tears
For I have drank deeply
To soothe my growing fears
A tincture of great power
To speed my aging years
So, as my sweet angel's
Pallid face finally appears
I know I'll soon sleep deeply
Far below the pyres
Now the maddening fever
That throbbed within my brain
Shall no more continue, nor linger
With ever mounting pain
Now I rest so soundly
Nary a trace dare remain
Of the vast sickness that is "Living"
That throbbed within my brain

Bloody Knife
I cut deeply to free your heart
Only then to see,
The bloody knife was in your hands
And the one who bled was me

War
The sounds of drums echo through the hills
The beating heart of war
Blood awash throughout the plains
To bleed forever more
The reality of a bitter siege;
You will come to find
Rages on forever more
Deep within the mind

Deeper Darkness
If you've never felt desperation
How can you know me now
The heartache and desolation
Feel like home somehow
When what's good is abandoned
And you've cried and ran away
You lack the strength to stand and
To face another day
When the pain is so welcome
And no more your foe
When that time has come
You will then truly know
Why I embrace my deeper darkness
And let my demons grow

A Time To Bleed
I'm sending a message. Please pay heed
The time has come for me to bleed
Far into the dark, shattered land
With staff and athame I'll make my stand
Tenebrous shadows swell; assault the light
With a flash of magick into the fight
Should you find me at the final rest
Know I passed that solemn test
My soul rides on strong medicine; free
Into the sacred eternally

My Demons Won...
My demons won last night
I awoke alone, unable to fight
Familiar madness claimed my mind
My failing sanity could not find
A surcease, to torments so far, so near
Whilst empty faces did appear
A wicked smile, a cursed grin
The despair and panic forced its way in
And now, no dreams to bid me sleep
I tear my flesh and only weep
For lustrous,shimmering bygone days
Before my passions and loves parted ways

Look My Way
The suffering of a love unrequited
Afflicted with mounting joy despite it
Through peculiar addlement of brain
Transcending pleasure; embracing pain
All for dreams of increasing folly
Absorbed too deep in melancholy
Having lost hope, accepting doubt
That feverish beating, I ripped it out
Scalding my heart in sulphrus flame
I scarcely even knew your name
And yet you stand before me still
A haunting dream I cannot kill
Exacting upon me a heavy toll
The loss of my eternal soul
A price I'd all to eagerly pay
If only you would look my way

Pledge
Pagan drums in the night
Secret ritual beyond sight
Naked bodies dancing, entwined
Clasping hands in sacred bind
Pledge of body and soul, and mind
Love forever, transcending time

Duality's Edge
Duality's edge will strike true
Straight at me, but not at you
Soon then we'll all be free
Even you, even me
Then swiftly comes our time to die
Certainly you but never I

I don't know how to love, at least not anymore. I think perhaps being able to love and be loved is a skill that few have, and many more forget.

You have no understanding of how desperately I love the stories your body's imperfections tell.

I've been staring at my reflection in the mirror for hours now. I keep wondering where exactly I got lost. I don't recognize myself; maybe I never did...

Colors dance to my hearts steady drum
My throbbing body driven nearly numb
Each scratch down my back, exquisite pain
Peculiar pleasures of a madened brain
Moans and sighs enrapture my ears
Lustful music of heavenly spheres
I can not help but be pulled in
Our bodies twisted, bathed sin
Only the stars witness the sight
Of the little death we died tonight

Beautiful Start
Colors dance, the drum of your heart
The light of your eyes, a beautiful start
The majesty of the moon, serenity, calm
Your touch, your grace, a medicinal balm
I worship at your altar, moan your name
Lovingly, in exquisite pain
Drowning in pleasures, you impart
The light of your eyes, a beautiful start

Elation
At first glance, everything would change
Planets align, and heavens rearrange
Mounting passion and loss of control
A gaze so intense, it pierces the soul
From that moment together, forever bound
Drowned in dreams and meanings profound
Two spirits, two bodies, desperately merge
Inside and outside, every profane urge
Satisfied and dwindled and kindled again
Locked in elation without an end
C. W. Armstead, scruffysatyr
A quiet moment of contemplation
And some excessive inebriation
Has brought all that should not be
Into a glaring, stark reality
The madness now a palpable thing
Born aloft on cacophonic wing
Opiate vapor swirling, gathering round
A broken visage on the ground
Unknowable horrors lingered there
Suspended pristine within the air
Visions to shatter the addled mind
And bid the world be left behind

Separate Parts
I had a love once, did you know
We could not make it lasting though
Who is at fault, him or I
Was it shattered, did it fade and die
I look back now and as it seems
We both got lost in our dreams
We loved what we thought, not what was real
It must have been an easy steal
As time crept in, it claimed our hearts
Tearing us into separate parts
C. W. Armstead, scruffysatyr
End
Here with you at the end of all things
Impossible to know the joy it brings
To see the light crumble away
Into an eternal darkest day
I will not fear, I will not hide
For you are forever at my side
Take my hand and take this kiss
As we plunge with finality into the abyss
C. W. Armstead, scruffysatyr
Again
The constant throbbing deep wirhin
Wishing release, a mortal sin
To be as still as without
Dead calm, dead quiet, no fear, no doubt
This desperate fever, this thing called life
Begotten of nothing, of shame, of strife
Maddening the thumping, the soud and feel
Twisting the mind, distorting what's real
Such peculiar, addlement of heart and brain
Falling, flailing into love again
C. W. Armstead, scruffysatyr
Remember
Stolen from far-off distant sand
To bleed and die on stolen land
Ebony skin creased in pain
Forced to work for others gain
Remember and do not forget
The gruesome fate these people met
Fallen so low to struggle here
All so that we may appear
To cast the pale kings from their bloody throne
And guide their souls back to their home

Gray Musings
Gazing heedless to the sky
Oh, how time does flit and fly
Dreams on once my heart did soar
Now come again, no more
Traded now for memories
Gray hair and false pleasantries
Withered skin and brittle bones
Inherent the body now youth has flown
The wisdom gained small recompense
For a life wasted in the decadence
Of a passion enflamed bygone past
But now the final die is cast
To lay me down in this spot
And let my withered body rot
Sinking into blackest ground
Where ne're my bones are found
C. W. Armstead, scruffysatyr
Kiss
It must have been that fateful kiss
On such a mournful night as this
That returned me, from the melancholy
An escape from a life of mortal folly
Eyes so deep and dark as coal
To steal from me, my heart and soul
My desperate longing to forever drown
Inside your arms, inside you on the ground
Passioned sighs and sweet caress
This all enduring tenderness
Can you remember, do you dare
Our lustful, loving moment there

To Whom It May Concern
To whom it may concern
l once lived long ago
A distant fading memory
That you would never know
My life was dreams and passion
With nothing real to show
And now I lay forgotten
Unable to let go
C. W. Armstead, scruffysatyr
I was never afraid to dream. I dreamed so hard, so much that I forgot to live.
