I Am Currently In A Harry Potter Mood And All I Can Say Is: There Is So Much More Potential Explored

I am currently in a Harry Potter mood and all I can say is: there is so much more potential explored by the fans than JKR ever could write and I am here for it.

There is so much potential in the series but looking back at it there are so many points where improvement could be easily made. Especially in charcter greyness of house Slytherin.

Also don’t give that woman any more money. Want to read the books? Go to a library or buy them used. Same with DVDs. Want merch? -only buy fan merch.

I think we all agreed that Harry Potter canon is only used as a base to make better fanon out of and anything she says nowadays is filed under: I heard you and I chose to ignore you.

A long time ago I saw this “Mary Sue” test and because I did not know about writing that I know today I wanted to see if my charcters got a high score.

Long story short the test was nonsense, But what sticks with me until this day is that there was a specific point.

“If your character speaks more than one languge add one point for each language.”

And I knew exactly at that moment a white american girl made this test.

Dude Tomura Shigaraki is literally the most transparent character in BNHA, like there is not a single moment where what he’s saying is NOT exactly what he means. His situation is also very obvious and clear to the people around him but they literally just do not care. The amount of times that he’s said exactly what his issue with the world is and it being dismissed as mindless violence two seconds later by the other characters is ridiculous (also by people who are reading BNHA but that’s a different story 🙄). He’s not like Dabi who has created an entirely new identity for himself, and wore that for a decade— dissociating and hiding who he is and how he’s really feeling. He isn’t written to be cryptic and hard to figure out. He is one of the most straight forward characters I think I personally have ever read.

His first introduction into the story was him spelling out his convictions to everyone in the room at UA and to his target (All Might). He can’t articulate it well and ends up not getting his point across to Stain, despite having the same type of issues Stain has with the world. He’s told by Stain that he has no conviction and is just killing pointlessly. THEN he’s told by the main character at their next encounter that his violence is pointless and “just for fun”, despite hearing everything he said at USJ.

All Might finds out he’s Nana’s grandson-starts to piece everything together, then quickly decides it’s not worth his time after Gran Tostito just reiterates the fact that Shigaraki is a criminal.

He spills his guts out in front of the LOV and the doctor, explaining why he’s so sick of everything and just wants to erase it all and start over, and the doctor continues referring to him as the “embodiment of destruction” and saying he “takes after AFO”. Completely disregarding the fact that there is a very deep desire in Shigaraki to see a better world.

Shigaraki is once again spilling his heart out in the middle of a war in front of the heroes who are actively trying to kill him, begging for SOMEONE to listen–and just gets dismissed again when Endeavor–once again–tries to fucking kill him.

Green Tomato KNOWS what happened with Nana, and put the pieces together probably figuring out why he ended up the way he did–and then accuses Shigaraki of trampling over Nana’s memory and hurting All Might just by existing.

He spills his heart out to anyone in the vicinity, anyone who will listen, and it’s still never mattered.

Like how many times does he have to scream out WHAT he’s angry about straight to their faces? He has never tried to hide how he feels about anything.

Not only is it the heroes’ jobs to royally fuck up, but it’s also their job to just not listen at all and fail at critical thinking altogether. And because of all of this, from a reader’s perspective he’s one of the easiest characters to read and understand.

I present to you the amazing fanfiction that is phantom pains by ellipsesificate also known as @robotlesbianjavert here on tumblr. It’s ony of the best stories I ever read and I will headcanon this as Spinner’s background story until we get an actual background story.

I adore seeing fanart or headcanons of Spinner having a tail, cuz it’s cool and handsome 🦎👌🏼

But I wonder if anyone else has thought of a maybe possibility that Spinner did have a tail once, but it was amputated for whatever reason, possibly related to the heteromorphic discrimination he faced in his hometown?

It’s not even a theory that I have, because there’s absolutely no evidence in the manga, but I wonder! Cuz like.

(warning for discussion of bullying and harm)

Spinner has the appearance and quirk of a gecko - all except the tail? When the pop knowledge of geckos regrowing their tail is like common knowledge, the cute 'did ya kno' fact everyone has brought up or hear at least once in their life?

Then consider, what bullying would be so bad that he shuts himself in his room for years? That the only thing to motivate him from that dark ditch is the chance to uproot of all of society? That he had enough of something raw and intense in his heart that he was willing to join a group of murderous and terrifying Villains?

That Spinner had believed in Stain's message of true Heroes maybe because the Heroes in his village did shit nothing, if it turns out that once upon a time, Iguchi Shuuichi had a tail, but it was cut off through some circumstances either directly (most obvious scenario would be bullies cutting his tail off to see if he’ll grow it back) or indirectly by the people in his village?

It might be too dark and extreme for the manga - child being mutilated by bullies - and like, if this is true than honestly I think Spinner would be justified in helping to destroy the world, 100% society deserves it and he should have fun. Still, this is an idea I’ve tossed around with friends and fellow Spinner fans cuz it’s a very plausible and easy conclusion to draw from the facts of his quirk, his past, CRC-level heteromorph discrimination that we know exist, and his desire for Shigaraki’s empty horizon.
