a/n - this was supposed to be posted over a week ago, but I kept procrastinating on finishing it. This is also my longest imagine so far lol. Disclaimer: I haven't read the books yet I've only seen the movies, but I just ordered the first one. I hope you enjoy :)

Youâre currently pacing back and forth in one of the vip suites, waiting for the fight to start. Itâs the fight that will determine whether or not youâll have to marry the most deranged person youâve ever laid eyes on.
Feyd Rautha is known for being unhinged in and out of the arena. It could be because of his past that he lacks compassion, or he just has no regard for anyone other than himself. Heâll kill anyone in an instant without blinking an eye, but sometimes heâll take his time to enjoy the moment.
Youâve never talked to Feyd and have only looked at him from a distance each time you visited the planet for your father to discuss business matters. When he would join the meetings you would avoid eye contact, but he would always watch you. When you guys would pass each other in the corridors you would keep your head down and walk faster, but you knew he was looking at you. You never knew if he was looking at you like a piece of meat or an actual human being. What really made you sick is that, despite his horrific personality, you still found him attractive.
Recently your father and Baron Harkonnen had a huge argument and couldnât come to an agreement, and of course the only way to resolve the issue is with a battle with you as collateral. It wasn't completely out of the blue since your father was somewhat close to the Baron, but it was a terrible proposition. Baron Harkonnen wants to make sure his bloodline is secure before he dies and Feyd takes control, but of all the women in the universe he had to pick you.
So now here you are a week later, along with the other citizens inside the arena, waiting to see the outcome of the fight. You already know what it will be though, everyone knows it, but youâre hoping that just this once the outcome will be different.
Eventually, you hear Feydâs name being announced to the crowd followed by him strutting into the arena with no emotion on his face. You canât bring yourself to watch the fight so you turn your back as soon as it starts, not even bothering to take a seat. The arena is dead silent once the fight starts, allowing you to hear the clashing of swords and the shouts coming from each man.Â
Itâs not long before Feydâs announced as the winner, as usual, and the crowd erupts in cheers. You turn back around and catch sight of the dead bodies splayed around Feyd who's basking in the praise from the sea of people in the stands. Turning your head to your left you lock eyes with your father who gives you an apologetic smile, but you just shake your head not knowing what to say to him. You take one last look into the arena and at Feydâs face, before leaving.
The guards already knew of the arrangement and wouldnât let you stray too far from the grounds of the house. It didnât take long for you to find out about the several ladyâs maids you now had â more than back home â because they basically circled around you until you finally told them that you didnât need them at the moment. One remained close behind you though.
When you were shown to your room, you were met with one that was far from small. You had a king size bed, a spacious bathroom with a walk-in shower, and a balcony that allowed you to look out into the distance at the skyline. You notice your knick knacks and personal items were scattered around the room on tables and shelves, and your clothes had already been unpacked and inside the closet.
They really donât waste time here.
As beautiful as the room was, it couldnât replace the one you had back home â the life you had back home.
Later that night after you bathed, you were about to call it a day and just crawl under the covers, but you decided against it. Luckily there was no one standing outside of your room or lurking in the hallway, but there was still a chance of you getting caught by one of the guards or by one of the Baronâs henchmen.
Even though youâve been here many times, you have only gone to the places that were necessary: the throne room, restrooms, dining hall, and the room for meetings. As you walked you noticed that many of the rooms were either locked or empty. You did manage to find a room full of paintings and another resembling an armory that seemed to be for display only.Â
Some of the items were tarnished, some looked extremely fragile, and some still had the blood on it from the time it was used. When you heard a pair of paced footsteps, you decided to make your way to the other side of the house to continue your exploration and to avoid being seen.
The other side gave you a completely different vibe, mainly because the corridors were barely lit. The main source of light came from the fireworks exploding outside, an applaud for Feyd. You started to wish you had brought a candle or anything that could grant you more light since the ceiling lights werenât helping much. The farther you walked, you started to feel more and more uneasy. You felt like someone was watching you, which is ironic because this wasnât the best lighting for seeing.
Feeling it was time to end the exploration, you turn around and start to head back but stop when you hear something. Or, at least you thought you heard something. It was dead silent except for the faint sounds of explosions. You were about to keep walking when you felt someone wrap their arm around and press a blade to your neck. The personâs scent is familiar though, reminding you of what you would smell every time you walked past Feyd.
Was he just casually hiding in the shadows?
âWhat are you doing here? How did you get past the guards?â you hear Feyd ask from behind you in his usual raspy voice, the rasp that you love but will never admit outloud.
You're relieved that itâs not a random person, but still a little fearful given the fact he could end your life at any second. The thought practically paralyzes you.
âI was just about to head back to my room,â your response is short.
âThat doesnât answer what I asked. No oneâs allowed this way,â Feyd says as he circles around to stand in front of you with the edge of his blade still pressed to your neck. âWait a minute, Iâve seen you around. Arenât you that lordâs daughter, the one Iâm so supposed to be marrying?â
You were about to just give him a simple nod, but then remember the blade pressed against your throat. âYes.â
He waits a moment as he looks at you before moving his hand away and leaving it to hang by his side along with the blade. Despite being surrounded by darkness, his blade still manages to shine. You automatically take a step back.
âI couldâve killed you, why didnât you say anything?â he asks, though his tone makes it clear he doesnât care too much.
âTo be fair you had a blade pressed to my neck,â you answer as Feydâs dark eyes stare into yours. He doesnât reply right away as he looks you up and down. His stare makes you feel exposed considering youâre only wearing a thin nightgown covered by a robe. Unconsciously, you begin to play with your fingers behind your back. Feyd notices your fidgeting though.
âAre you scared of me?â he suddenly asks, and youâre not sure how to reply. Everyone is scared of him, but is he genuinely asking or is he trying to get a kick out of this?
âNo,â you choose to say, and he smirks.
He starts to slowly walk around you as he continues speaking. âNo? Do I just make you nervous then? It has to be something because youâve always avoided eye contact with me, and I know how you would distance yourself from me on purpose. In fact, this is the first conversation weâve had. Come on now, weâre going to be married soon, we should be able to talk to each other,â he smirks.
Well, what the hell am I supposed to say to that?
âIsnât that how you want people around you to feel? Everyone has their weakness, whatâs yours?â you question as he continues to circle you.
He doesnât hesitate to say, âI donât have one.â
âEveryone has one,â you pause as you think then say, âwhat about the women you always have around? Everyone knows youâre a playboy, that sounds like a weakness to me.â
He stops in front of you to look down at you and into your eyes with the smirk still on his face. âThat sounds like jealousy to me.âÂ
âItâs simply an observation,â you shrug.Â
âYou know, I usually donât let the women I sleep with talk to me like this,â he says with a tilt of the head.
âWhatâs that supposed to mean?â
âIt means that for you I guess I will make an exception, given the fact youâre my bride and all,â he says before he circles behind you again to press his body up against yours. He leans into your ear to whisper, âbut just this time.â
You wish you could stop the goosebumps from appearing on your skin or the shiver that works its way through your body. You thought Feyd wouldnât notice, but he mustâve because he leans back with a light chuckle. Right now all you want to do is slap him across the face for his arrogance and yourself for the way your body reacted to his words.Â
âI wonât sleep with you just yet, my darling, but it will happen soon because itâs obvious you canât wait,â Feyd says as he slowly backs away from you. You turn around wanting to say something else, but before you get the chance he says, ârun along now, itâs getting late.â
He keeps that smug look on his face as you give him one last look before leaving. Your mind tells you to hate him, but your body says otherwise as a warm feeling travels through your core as you walk back to your room.
You also hate how every night after part of you expects Feyd to walk through your bedroom door. He didnât come the night after your encounter in his corridor. He didnât come the next night either or the night after that. You knew it was foolish waiting for a man that has his own sex slaves â a man that youâre supposed to detest.
It isnât until the fourth day that Feyd arrives at your door; little did you know Feyd was having his own internal conflict. He hadnât used any of his slaves since that night he caught you in his corridor, not feeling the need for them. He also was not a fan of his feelings toward you.
You were standing out on your balcony enjoying the night breeze when you heard a knock on your door. You knew it could only be one of your ladyâs maids at this time, so you didnât hesitate to tell the person outside the door to come in as you took a couple steps back into your room. In walked a ladyâs maid that you have grown quite fond of over the past couple of days.
âThereâs a visitor here for you, would you like me to send them in,â she asks.
You wanted to say no given the current time, but you nodded anyway and watched as she walked back out. Not even a few seconds later, Feyd replaces her spot covered in a black robe, a stark contrast to his pale skin, and closes the bedroom door behind him.
Your body stiffens, nearly stuck to the ground, as you quickly try to figure out your emotions in your head. Feyd takes his time walking towards you as he looks around your room, and this gives you enough time to pull yourself together. You step back out onto the balcony as he gets closer and closer, and he follows you out there.
âNice view donât you think?â he asks as he stands next to you, looking out into the distance.
âDid you really come here to ask me about the view?â you look up at him.
âStraight to the point, I like it,â he smirks.
âStraight to what point?â you act dumb and put some space in between the two of you.
âWhy do you think Iâm here?â he tilts his head down at you.
âApparently to talk about the view,â you reply in a joking manner and look out into the distance to avoid his gaze. Out of the corner of your eye you can see his jaw tighten.
âYouâre making this hard.â
âWhat?â you ask, still not looking at him. You want him to hear him say outloud what he wants.
Except he doesnât say anything. Instead, he quickly closes the distance between the two of you as he places his lips on yours and his hands on your cheeks. The force he uses startles you and pushes you back a couple steps, but you recover and grab onto his wrists as you begin kissing him back.
You wonder for a second if youâre giving in too easily, but the feeling of Feydâs grip on you tosses the idea out of your mind.
Feyd hated how needy and desperate he felt as his lips attacked yours. The kiss was rough, but Feyd was trying to hold himself back from going too far. Normally he wouldnât care about how rough or gentle he was with a woman because his slaves never complained â not like they had a choice â and some of them even came to him first to satisfy their own needs. This time though, it was him coming to you.
Feyd deepens the kiss, keeping his hold on your face firm, as he starts to push you back into your bedroom. Once your legs hit the bed, he unties the knot on your robe before slowly peeling it off your shoulders leaving you nothing but your nightgown and undergarments. He breaks the kiss to push you back, and you scoot your body into the center of the bed.
The way he focuses on you as he stands at the bottom of the bed makes you feel like one of Feydâs opponents in the arena. The thought sends warmth between your legs.
He takes off his own robe leaving him in only his underwear before he starts to crawl on the bed, trailing a hand up one of your ankles up to your thigh, until heâs hovering above you. Your breathing is shallow and your heart races in anticipation for whatâs to come. The only other person you've had sex with was one of your close friends back on your home planet, and you enjoyed it, but that friend wasnât Feyd. He wasnât a murderous maniac known for his sexual relations like Feyd was. Another wave of electricity passes through your body.
Feyd dips his head down and starts placing kisses on your neck from your ear to your collarbone, making a low whine escape your lips. All the while, the hand gripping your thigh inches farther north until it reaches your panties and begins to touch you through them. It doesnât take too long for a wet spot to appear on the fabric, and itâs obvious that Feyd notices too, seeing as how you can feel a smirk form on his lips. You squeeze your legs together wanting more from him, but Feyd pushes your legs back open and bites the skin on your neck.
You draw in a breath as he whispers into your ear, âbe patient.â His voice may be light, but you can hear the firmness behind it.
He moves his face away from your neck and takes his time as he moves his body lower and lower until his face is between your thighs. He pulls your underwear down your legs before tossing them to the side, and helps you dispose of your nightgown revealing your bare body to him. You start to wish that your bedroom lights were off as you look down to see Feydâs dark eyes taking all of you in.
A smile spreads across his face once he notices you shying up. âThereâs no hiding from me now.â
He says nothing else and dives right into you. His movements are rough yet gentle as he eats you out, resembling hunger. The way he flicks his tongue over you like a snake has your back arching while you let out a consistent string of moans. You tightly grab hold of the blanket beneath you with both hands as you move your hips into his mouth. You canât help but roll your eyes from the speed of his tongue.
Feyd places one hand onto your stomach before moving it up to one of your breasts to grab hold of, while his other hand joins his lips between your thighs. He wastes no time slipping a finger into you as he moves his mouth up to suck harshly on your clit.
âOh my god,â you say breathlessly. One of your hands lets go of the blanket to join Feydâs on your breast.
The finger inside of you pumps into you at a measured pace before gradually getting faster. He decides to add another finger without letting up on his speed. You can tell that him pleasuring you gives him satisfaction, noticing the fact that heâs in his own world. Naturally, your body starts to move away from his mouth and your legs start to close as the pleasure becomes more intense.
Feyd releases his hold on your clit and lifts up his head to make eye contact with you. âI need you to stay still,â he tells you in more of a warning tone and pulls you back to his mouth before continuing, not waiting for you to answer.
Once you feel your orgasm nearing your moans get louder as they turn into whines. Feyd notices the way you become shaky and how you start writing around more so he moves his mouth away and pulls his fingers out of you. Your mouth falls open as you look down at him, the warmth previously building up in your stomach slowly starting to fade away. Youâre about to say something when he looks into your eyes and shushes you.
He then moves his hand on your breast and places it on your stomach, gently adding pressure. Youâre confused and you expect him to say something, but he doesnât.Â
Then suddenly you feel his fingers start to move inside you again, except this time at a different pace. He begins to quickly pump his fingers in and out of you, causing you to throw your head back as your back lifts off the bed. You feel yourself getting close to tumbling over the edge again, although this time it feels different. Itâs unlike all the other times you have brought yourself to an orgasm.
Right as your orgasm hits you, you feel a gush of liquid squirt out of you. You cum with a loud cry, forgetting the fact that the doors to your balcony are still wide open. When the thought pops into your mind you donât even care about anyone being able to hear you.
Feyd stops when you move your hands down to try and push him away. He looks down at his chest to see the mess you created and lets out a low laugh. As your body starts to relax, you look down to see Feyd standing at the bottom of the bed pulling down his underwear to reveal his hard length to you.
âDonât worry, Iâm not done with you yet,â he tells you as he positions himself between your legs.
He rubs the tip of his length up and down your slit spreading your arousal around. You let out a whine at his teasing and he says, âready for another one, are we?â
He doesnât stop right away, but when he finally glides into your soaked opening it pulls a moan out of both of you. He places his arms on either side of your head and leans down to connect his lips to yours. The kiss is rough and sloppy, and you tightly wrap your arms around his waist pulling him closer to you. You donât even care if you seem desperate anymore.
Youâre still sensitive from your previous orgasm, but Feyd doesnât care as he ruthlessly pounds into you. Once he finds the spot inside of you that makes you gasp, he makes a mental note of it as he repeatedly thrusts into it.
It doesnât take long for your next orgasm to build up, releasing it with a silent cry as you unintentionally dig your fingers into Feydâs back causing him to groan in your ear in pleasure. He keeps his thrusts consistent as you begin to leak around his cock and onto the blanket beneath you. Thereâs no doubt youâll have to change the bedding later.Â
With another smirk he firmly grips your jaw and says, âI hope you can take a few more, my darling.â

a/n - this was literally supposed to be posted over a month ago for the ending of MOTA, but I kept writing for Austin lol. Might as well get it out the drafts now. I also basically had to rewrite the whole thing bc wtf was I thinking a month ago. I hope you enjoy :)

The war is finally over, allowing all the soldiers to go home, including the two best friends Buck and Bucky. The only thing holding Bucky back from being completely content about leaving is the fact that he doesnât have that special someone to go back to.
Buck has Marge, and of course heâs happy for him, but Bucky just wishes had found a girl before he got sent off, someone who would know how he was before the war. Buck would always tell him not to worry and that he would find someone soon, but each time it doesnât give him any reassurance.
You have been best friends with Marge since college, so when she told you her fiance was coming home you had nothing but joy for her. You had been a huge supporter of their relationship since the beginning, and while Buck was away you were always at her house comforting her for when she cried or just needed a friend. During his absence, Buck would write to you to check in on Marge because you and him both knew Marge would never tell him how she was really doing.
Currently, you are walking out of her front door to go back home when you see a taxi pull up in the driveway. You didnât think anything of it until you saw Buck exiting the vehicle with his bags in hand. You shout for Marge to come outside, and it doesnât take long for her to sprint into Buckâs arms after seeing him in the driveway. With a smile, you watched as he held onto her tightly and so lovingly, knowing this is exactly what Marge needed after a bad week.Â
Deep down, though, you were wishing you had someone coming home to you, someone whose arms you could run into and kiss you like his life depended on it. When it came to the dating scene you never had much luck, so after a while you just accepted the defeat and gave up, deciding it was better to put your energy towards your career.Â
During your girl talks, Marge would always tell you that you would find someone soon, and how perfect of a person you were, but year after year of not finding a relationship was making it hard to believe her.Â
A couple days after Buckâs return, Marge invited you over because she was hosting a barbeque for Buck and some of his friends. You tried your best to get out of it, but she wouldnât take no for an answer. She also mentioned that Bucky â Buckâs friend from the military who youâve only heard while reading letters â would be there and that it would be an opportunity for you.
You didnât find it unusual that she was trying to set you up with someone because this is what she always does, but you just werenât in the mood to have small talk with a guy who probably wouldnât find you attractive.
When Buck had invited Bucky â because when are they not together â he turned down the offer, and just like Marge, Buck wasnât going to take no for an answer.
So, now here you were in Margeâs backyard surrounded by men and their partners. The only people you knew were the hosts, so you sat on the steps of the back porch with Marge beside you. Marge also didnât know many of the guests given the fact everyone was Buckâs friend from the military, so she kept you company as she watched Buck man the grill with a few other guys beside him.
Bucky was among them, standing right next to his best friend and sipping on a beer as he talked. Every now and again, he would run a hand through his hair to push some of his loose curls, and you couldnât deny the fact that he was attractive as you found yourself admiring him from a distance.
âAre you going to say something to him?â Marge asked you as she swished around the lemonade in her glass. She had been watching you this whole time as you practically drooled in the direction of the grill.
âOf course not,â you say as you turn your attention back to her, not before glancing around to see if anyone else had caught you staring.Â
Thankfully some of the women had formed a little group and were laughing and gossiping amongst themselves, so there was little chance anyone had noticed you.
âAnd why not?â asked Marge with furrowed brows. âHeâs a nice guy, I promise.â
âIâm sure he is, but itâs not like I know what to say. Plus look at him, heâs way out of my league,â you reply as you take a sip of lemonade from your own glass.Â
âNo heâs not, heâs just like any other guy,â she scoffs followed by a laugh.
âAnd just like with any other guy, I have nothing to talk about. What do we even have in common? He also just got back from a war camp in Europe, what if I say something that triggers him?Â
âYouâre overthinking. Just start off with a simple hello, and then go from there. Heâs a huge flirt so knowing him heâll do most of the talking,â she smiles.Â
She was always so optimistic about these kinds of things, but you would be too if you were getting married to a guy who basically worships you.
You quickly finish the last of your lemonade before standing up. âIâm going to get a refill,â you mumble as you walk up the steps and into the house. You needed an excuse to get away from the conversation, and to get out of the heat. The sundress you were wearing was cute and gave you airflow, but it also exposed your arms and legs to harsh sun.
You head into the kitchen and open the fridge to take out the pitcher of lemonade Marge had made earlier in the day. After refilling your glass, you thought it was best to linger in the kitchen for a bit longer and decided to grab a plate of fruit out of the fridge to keep you busy.
Just as you jump up on the kitchen counter to get comfortable, you hear the back door opening. Next thing you know, you see Bucky walking into the kitchen, letting out a sigh that seems to be of exhaustion. He flashes you a smile when he notices you, before proceeding to grab another beer out of the fridge.
âYouâre Margeâs friend right?â he asks as he shuts the door and turns to face you.Â
âYep,â is all you say before sticking a grape in your mouth.
âIâm John, but everyone calls me Bucky,â he says. He makes direct eye contact as sticks a hand out for you to shake, which you do, before popping the cap off his beer.
âSo Iâve heard. Iâve seen your picture in Margeâs letters,â you respond as you focus your attention on the plate in your hands and begin moving some fruit around.
âOh, yeah? Did I atleast look good in those pictures? Buck never lets me read his letters,â He smirks as he leans against the counter opposite from you.
You almost choke on the piece of fruit you had just placed in your mouth from his statement. You feel your face and ears turning warm so you turn your head and look out the kitchen window to avoid his gaze.
You stop yourself from smiling and cover it by clearing your throat. âWell you were in a uniform and in black and white, so I couldnât really tell.âÂ
âUnderstandable, black and white photos can be misleading,â he jokes, taking a swig from his bear. Thereâs a short silence that follows that isnât completely awkward, but not exactly comfortable to you either. You hope he doesnât notice.
The silence is interrupted by the back door opening and Marge sticking her head inside. She grins as her eyes flicker between you and Bucky before stopping on you to say, âAre you coming back out or what?â
âIn a second, Iâm just going to cool off in here for a bit,â you tell her. She gives you a nod before closing the door.
âNot a fan of big gatherings, I take it,â Bucky says once Marge is gone.
âWhat makes you say that?â you steal a glance at him before looking back out the window.
You smile as you watch Marge join Buck at the grill, making him turn his head to give her a quick kiss.
âI can tell youâre avoiding going back outside, and I donât blame you. Iâm doing the same thing myself,â he answers.
âWhat are you avoiding?â you finally turn your head to face him.
âNothing specific really, Iâm just not in the mood for conversating and answering peopleâs questions right now. That doesnât include you though,â he looks over at you with a small smile. â I used to love being around people and having fun, but now all I want to do is leave.âÂ
You watch as Bucky stares at the wall, going distant. His mood seems to have shifted from the one he had when he first stepped foot in the kitchen. âEverything okay?â
Your voice interrupts his thoughts and brings him back to the present. âYeah, Iâm fineâŚIâm justâŚI can tell Iâm a different person ever since I got back, and Iâm not sure I like this version of me.â He sets his beer on the counter and folds his arms, no longer in the mood to drink it.Â
âI donât think anyone expects you to be the same.â
âWell yeah, itâs just the fact that everyone I meet from now on will only know this version of me. They wonât know how different I was before the war, and they wonât understand what Iâve been through. Like Buck has Marge to talk to, and she understands because of the letters he would send her. I donât have that,â Bucky says before adding, âIâm sorry, I donât mean to dump this all on you.â
You just give him a smile. Even though you will never understand completely what Bucky went through, you do have some grasp on what heâs feeling. To you itâs obvious that he puts on a mask when heâs around people, and wonât let his feelings show unless heâs alone â harboring his emotions.
âI know how close you are with Buck, have you ever told him about how you felt? It always helps to talk to someone.â you tell him.
He shakes his head, âNo, I donât want to bother him. He has his own problems.â
âIâm sure he wouldnât mind,â you tell him, but he just shakes his head again. âWell...I know weâve just met, but you could talk to me. I mean, you just opened up to me in a kitchen within ten minutes of meeting me. Iâm obviously a great listener Only if you want to, though,â you end with a hopeful smile.
Bucky finally looks away from the wall to look you in the eye with his eyebrows raised. âReally?â he asks and you nod. âThat would be nice.â
And thatâs where the bond between the two of you started, and it only continued to grow stronger. You would meet up with him for drinks, lunch, or just for a walk through the park. Bucky would tell you everything, from him joining the military and meeting Buck to what he has experienced throughout the past few years. You could tell that he would get emotional when he brought up certain topics, but he never cried around you, even though you always encouraged him to let his feelings out.
One day when he invited you to dinner, you brought it up to Marge. She quickly got excited and said it was a date, but you just brushed it off and told her it was just another casual meeting. Nonetheless, you still decided to put effort into your appearance â more than you normally do â and once the dinner was over, you realized she was right.
Bucky ended up confessing to you how his feelings for you have grown over the past few weeks. At first you were shocked, but when you realized he was being serious, you admitted that you felt the same way.Â
You didnât care that Bucky thought he was a ruined person with a lot of baggage, everyone has their hardships, after all. Bucky loved how you enjoyed being with him after everything he had told you, and how you accepted him for who he is now.
When you eventually told Marge that you and Bucky were official, she wasnât surprised at all and brought up how she always said you would find someone. When Bucky had told his best friend, Buck was happy for him and gave Bucky his fair share of I told you soâs.

a/n - it's been sooo long, mainly because I've been focused on doing applications to transfer colleges. I also didn't know who to write about for a while after farleigh, lol. I hope you enjoy :)

âHow much longer are you going to be back there?â your friend groans from the other side of the bar. The bar staff requested extra hands since a large number of pilots and crew had arrived, and for some reason you volunteered to help out.Â
âI have another hour left, and then Iâm finished,â you say as you hand the guy next to her his drink. She just groans in response. âPlus, you said you were planning on ditching me and finding someone to entertain you for the night.â
âYeah, but itâs not the same when Iâm doing it alone.â
âYou do realize Iâm not the only person you know here, right?â You tell her as another uniformed man walks up to the bar.
âCan I get a round of whiskeys and a ginger beer, please?â the man asks before your friend could answer. You nod and get started on his order.
âGinger beer?â you hear your friend ask in a judgemental yet light tone.
âDonât worry itâs not for me,â the man lets out a small laugh. You hand him his drinks on a tray, and he thanks you before walking away.
âYou may not be the only person I know, but you're the only one I really like. But Iâll leave you alone to do your job and make my way to where that man just went,â your friend nudges her head in his direction. After following him with your eyes you give her a âreallyâ look once you spot the table and she gives you an innocent shrug in return.
The table is surrounded by nothing but higher ups. It also happens to include the inseparable best friends Major John âBuckyâ Egan and Major Gale âBuckâ Cleven.
âMaybe once you get Major Egan youâll be able to put in a good word for me with Major Cleven, or if I get to Cleven first, I could put in a good word for you. We could do the whole double date thing. Their names have a nice ring to it donât you think?âÂ
âLower your voice,â you shush her as you glance around for any listening ears. All of the men in the bar know one another in some way, and word travels fast.
âWhat? Youâve had a crush on the guy for the longest time, and you do nothing about it every time he flies in,â she tells you. âIf you ask him out and he turns you down, it's not like you have to see him for long.â
âIâm sorry, have you met me? What makes you think I would ever go up to a guy and ask him out?â
âYeah, yeah, yeah. I guess Iâll just have to be bold for the both of us. Can I get a shot before I go, Iâm going to need some liquid courage to take these men on.â
âTake your shot and go,â you say as you wave her off with your hand after placing her shot down in front of her. She takes her shot and wanders off, but not before giving you a smirk. You just playfully roll your eyes in return.
You donât realize how much time goes by with the constant swarm of men coming up to the bar, but when you decide to look up at the clock on the wall you notice you only have ten minutes left until you're free. It has pretty much slowed down given the fact that most of the men were already drunk out of their minds, but the room was far from quiet.
âNext time itâll be me who knocks his ass out,â you hear a voice say as they come up to the bar you currently had your back to.
You turn around confused, planning to question the person, but you freeze a little once you notice Major Eagan infront of you. You feel yourself panic a little given the fact that this is the closest youâve ever been to him. He must see your confused expression though because he begins to explain himself.
âSorry not you, I was talking to one of my buddies. He knocked some brit out on the first punch,â he says, but not before quickly adding, âIt was well deserved though, the man was a prick.â
You just nod in response, not knowing what to say to that other than, âCan I get you anything, Major?â
âYes, whiskey please,â he smiles as he leans his uniform covered arms on the bar top.
âYou wouldnât happen to belong to the table that requested all those whiskeys tonight would you?â you ask as you turn around to grab a bottle and glass. You also try to keep your hands steady and your face as neutral as possible.
âGuilty,â he lets out a small laugh as you set his drink in front of him. He doesnât reach out to touch it, but keeps those blue eyes of his on you. âGot a problem with whiskey?â
âNo, why do you ask?â
âBecause I couldâve sworn you made a face when I said it,â he tells you, but thereâs no attitude behind it. Good observation skills on his part, bad concealing skills on your part. He is a soldier after all.
âOh, you caught that,â you let out a little laugh as you try to busy yourself with something behind the bar. As much as you would like to keep talking to him â because you would most likely never get the chance again â you kind of wish he would walk away so you could control your sweating. Your friend would probably slap you if you turned this interaction down though.
âYeah, is there a story behind it or you just donât like whiskey?âÂ
âI just donât like it,â you say, and itâs true. You feel itâs way too strong, especially to be drinking so casually.
âYou have one of the best whiskeys sitting on that shelf behind you, and you're telling me you donât like it?â youâre not looking at him, but you can hear a playful tone in his voice. If only your friend could see you now, wherever she is.
âThatâs exactly what Iâm saying.â
âUh huh,â he replies in a tone that tells you he doesnât believe you. âWhen are you able to leave from behind there?â he motions to you behind the bar.Â
You take a glance up at the clock at the wall and notice youâre not supposed to leave for another three minutes. But, then again, a cute guy is standing across from you so who cares?
âNow actually,â you respond.
âWell then pour yourself a glass, and Iâll drink it with you,â he tells you, and you feel your stomach flutter. It also could be that youâre nauseous from being so nervous.
âThis sounds an awful lot like peer pressure,â you joke and he lets out a laugh.Â
You do as he says and pour yourself a glass because what the hell. He raises his up as a form of cheers, and you do the same before you both tilt your heads back and drink. You pull a face as the liquid burns going down your throat; he just laughs.Â
âYou really donât like it,â he says as you set your glass down.
âI prefer sweeter things like wine. You know, the stuff that doesnât taste like acid,â you say, and he just lets out another laugh at your response.
âWell Iâll remember that for next time,â he says, and you almost drop your guysâ cups, which you just picked up to put away.
âNext time?â you pause before looking up at him.
âYes. Iâm going to be here for a while, and I figured the two of us could do something,â he tells you like it was obvious,â Without any whiskey involved of course.â
âAnd what makes you think I want to?â
âBecause you just spent the past ten minutes having a conversation with me. Oh, and your friend told me to come over here since I helped her get with my buddy Buck,â he gives you a smirk.
Your heart practically slaps the ground, and you feel like you actually might throw up. Part of you isnât surprised because you were never going to do anything about your crush and your friend knew, and the other part of you is shocked because what happened to girl code?
âWell now I definitely donât want to,â you tell him, half joking, as you resume cleaning up.
